This case is very nice. The rugged design with the bolts on the outside is cool. I have not traveled with it but it does take up some space so I don't think I will. Another drawback is the foam deteriorating. The X Metal logo on the front makes it even better.

As all previous reviews say, this is THE case. Nothing else is even remotely similar. It is of course big and bulky, but offers 100% protection and 750% wow factor...
Regarding the foam, I used a computer mouse pad for replacement of the bad 'bottom' foam. It looks almost exactly like the original but is much more durable and easy to replace.

Bottom line: If you have the X-metal, you should give them the case they deserve!

Beautiful piece of design. There is no better display / case for my Romeo 1.0 sunglasses. They can take a lot of abuse while keeping my beloved Romeos free of damage. It looks 100% OAKLEY as well.

It's an Awesome and special sunglasses case in the world. I never know another similar design with oakley xmetal. Unfortunately irt doesn't produced anymore...

Great industrial design, rugged, angular. Shame about the foam. Would have been nice if they gave us something equally as long-lasting for wear. Seems a bit of a con: once the foams worn, you're looking at either finding another pair in mint condition or trying to knock up some foam that fits instead, inside.....you're looking at a max of fifteen years maybe eighteen, tops.

its just too bulky and not practical if you wanna travel and use it . it doesn't have a latch and the foam breaks down pretty fast .

Love the case, but the foam has broken down, and I cannot get a replacement from Oakley. Love the outside design, though...

An awesome design for awesome sunglasses.
To be honest, it won't find a place in all your bags. That case is big, very big, and the squared design is not very practical.
I'm now using it as a display piece but before I get a tower, I used to put my Romeo 1 inside each time I got back home.
You'll prefer to use a X-Metal Soft vault to hold your X-metal all day long in your bag ... at least if they are not on your face.

4 skulls for design, protection and all, but 1 skull less for practicality (is that a word ?)

I love the Vaults and the X Metal one is definitely my favorite. It is a great-looking case, a very functional case and it makes a great conversation piece as well...oh and it looks great on display in ones tower, too.

The best protection you could ever hope to get for your X-Metal shades, perfect for travel since you could put your spare X-metals in your luggage without getting them crushed. Truly a definite must-have for your X-metals.

Very nice for your display collection. Very durable and strong. But, cannnot carry with you because it is too bulky.

Simply the best case if you ask me.
Strong, ample padding, closes firmly yet without taking any fingers off (unlike the torpedo case) and has enough room (unlike the soft cases)
If you have a X metal you should have this case.

Spacious...can even handle my Eyepatches. Never had a problem EVER with them.

Another great conversation started piece...people will always ask you "why such an intense case for sunglasses" and then you can say "well, because I'd rather protect my $300+ sunglasses with the best."

It's huge, but it's sweet looking, durability is no question, built like a tank. It does it's job really well so no complaints here(except if I ask my wife to put it in her purse..hehehe).

Quite a big vault, a must for owners of X-Metals, also good for sunglasses too big to fit the regular metal vault, like the Eye Jacket 2.0.

I bring them where I go, part of the fun its is size and bulkyness.

Protection at is best.

None of the smaller cases will fit folded Romeo2's, so I bought it.

I sent my glasses to Oakley in these and when they returned (in a shipping box that showed some buckling) UPS had caused the case to bite into itself (like 1/4") I had to pull hard to get it back open. I am still baffled how this happened because the edges are alligned, and you can practically stand on this case and that won't happen. Weird but hey, if I had shipped the glasses in the stock cardboard Oakley box, they would probably have been crushed.

It looks cool but could be alot better designed (for $45). The case should be sealed, and have a latch (like a small tackle box). Then it would be far more "rugged" and keep dirt out. I want to put this case in the glovebox of a golf cart and not have to worry about sand blowing in through the cracks.

I made this case seal better by covering the inner edges with 2 layers of electrical tape.

Looks stunning, really suits the glasses - however - these are nowhere near indestructable - my case has buckled beyond repair whilst being kept in a bag, which for the price is not acceptable.

At first I really didn't like the look of it but since I become more of a collector now. i love it.

An appropriate case for your X metal of choice. Could have better foam as mine is breaking down. You have to be careful closing the lid as it will snap close and scratch lens or frame if your X metal isn’t all the way in or it can pinch you.

awesome case, realy resistant and good looking, fits most of the large sunglass models which makes it that much more reliable in comparison with The Vault

i would not take it with me for small car trips as a case but i would definatly put my best glasses in there if i d go for a longer plane trip.

There is not a case that can ever match up to this one! This Vault is indestructible! You can easily place a X-metal in there acompanied by 1 or 2 simple wires.

Looks great in every collection.

Good: Quite simply the BEST case for a pair of 'excessively-priced' pair of Oakley shade, for example, Rare & Custom X-Metals!! IMO the BEST looking case as well! It is very durable & gives the best protection for the X-Metals.. It would be nice if this case is built with a small 'locking system' so that it won't open up in case u drop it...

Bad: It is heavy & pricey!

I have never seen a case as well built as this one.Looks rough on the outside but gentle on the inside for those expensive X metals.
The outside definitely screams Oakley.Its so nice that I got several of them and are a big part of my display.Like what everybody mentioned it is bulky but so what.The good far outweighs the bad IMHO.

Amazing piece of industrial design. They should include these with every X-Metal sold. These things mean business. I want my coffin to look like this.

Super strong, Oakley was taking no chances on damaging precious x metals. weighty and solid.

I love this case! Offers great protection and the quality is very good. Only downside is that it's a bit big and pinches your finger if it's in the wrong place.

I could not find anything more appropriate than this for storing my x metals. It should be one for each pair.

This is the only hard case for you to carry X-Metal. Heard that Oakley going to dis-continue them soon, it's must for O-Lover!

You absolutly cannot put your X-metals in any other case. This is a must have for your X-metals. They are so durable and no other case is like it.

Great storage, great looks, useful as a weapon in your car! These are my favorites, especially for carrying an extra pair while travelling.

Only qualm is that they cant fit into a jacket pocket!

I have 3 of these things and they have logged many travel miles. Perfect protection for any pair of X-Metals. I've never had an issue with carrying Romeos in them. If you are going to fork out the dough for X-Metals, this is a definite must.

The big freakin daddy of cases! Again, pinching fingers around the world ... but loving it.

Really, the thing that makes this so great is the notion that the purpose is to protect such incredible eyewear as the X-Metals.

If you want to transport your X-metals on a regular basis in a small backpack, this is not for you.

However, if you have a lot of room wherever, this case will definately protect your investment. I also put my Fat Cats in and it protects them sweet.

Very cool vault which I store my Juliets in! Can withstand any kind of abuse, what more can I say? When you see and feel this you'll immediately know it's a quality product.

A tad impractical but that's all part of what makes it so darned cool.

A larger version of the regular Hard Vault but with the much more specific---and in my opinion, cooler X-Metal logo---which will pretty much guard anything you manage to fit into it.

Not very portable, but I think the appeal to this accessory is mostly for display purposes. I'd recommend it for use as an anvil or something that will take a beating if you don't have a bat at hand.

Very spacious and protective. I find that Juliet's fit much better in these compared to the X-Metal Soft Vaults. Not very portable, but who wants to take a chance by storing X-Metals in anything else?

These cases, like they claim, can withstand tremendous abuse and still not let your glasses be harmed. The outside is just aluminum, but the angles and support structures provide maximum strength, while the foam inside softens any blows that may shock the contents. I have two, the original and X-Metal.

This will house Romeo's, Juliet's, X Metal XX's, Mars, and Scars. Others will fit, but may be too loose.
