Frame: X-metal, TiO2, Plasma.
Lens: VR28 Black Irid Polarized, Amber Black Irid Polarized, (+) Red, Ice, & Black Iridium.

Of the x-metal line, the x-metal XX and the Romeo 2.0 fit me the best (med size head). The x-metal XX's are hands down my favorite frame! Lens coverage on these are awesome!

N.B. - I'm going to call these 20's for the rest of the review because that's what I call them and it's shorter than typing x-metal XX. ;-)

A lot of people think of the 20's as a larger Juliet, but I think they are different enough to not think of them as such. While the Juliet is beautiful in it's own way, these are more subtle in the design area. Around the lens orbitals, the Juliets are more linear and have much more pronounced lines, while the 20's have a larger and smoother shape to them. Also, the hammered earstems are a nice touch of design style on the 20's (and only available on the polished Juliets).

The only downside to the 20's is the lack of factory lens colors offered -- you're pretty much stuck with Black Iridium, except for Ice Iridium on the Plasma frames. Cutting my own lenses gives me a wide variety of lens color options to suite my mood. =)

As far as frame finishes go... This is very tough, but it all comes down to the lens color combo you go with. IMHO, I think the following...

The X-metal frame is nicely offset with vibrant color lenses (e.g. (+)Red Iridium).

The TiO2 frame would look best with softer colors (e.g. VR28 Black Iridium).

The Plasma frame can compliment just about anything.

The 24k frame I won't comment on as I don't own a pair.

Any color frame you go with, you can't go wrong. ;-) I would recommend this frame to just about anyone. The 20's are less linear and a little less aggressive than the other models within the x-metal line. I think this makes the 20's more versatile in being able to fit a larger variety of face/head shapes. Try on a pair, you won't be disappointed.

I got these at a discounted price off the internet, and I love them. The Titanium frames hold up very well and the gold finish looks very nice. The 24K lenses are my favorite lens to look through. Unlike the similar Fire lens, your view doesn't turn green, but more of an orange, but mostly, it just darkens. This pair is similar to the Juliet's in style, but has been stretched upward to make the lenses higher and cover more area around your eyes. If you have the money, I highly recommend these to anyone.

I was always a fan of the Juliet and the XMXX is very similar in shape to the Juliet. The biggest difference is that the XX lenses are little larger (taller) than the Juliet, and the ear stems on the XX are hammerstems, the slighly tweaked earstems. The only Juliets to come with hammerstems, are the polished and Ischiro versions, while all variations of the XX had hammerstems.

The larger orbitals allow for more coverage for those with a little larger face. I really like these compared to the Juliet due to the slightly larger size. I did not realize how much of a difference wearing the XX would be compared to the Juliet until I actually got them on my face. I was surprised at how much more I liked them. I started out with more Juliets than any other X-Metal, now they have taken a back seat in my collection.

The only downfall that I can see is that there were far less colorways on the XX than the Juliet, and they were discontinued a longer time ago, so they are slightly more difficult to get a hold of, and thus cost a bit more, but they are well worth the trouble if you prefer a larger frame or have a medium to large noggin.

These glasses were perfect for me, I'm 6'10" and the glasses had perfect coverage. I was going to buy Juliet's or Penny's and they were both too small for my face. Had these for over 6 years and they are great. Too bad Oakley doesn't make rubber for these anymore.

Finally got to wear these after they've been sitting on display for over 6 months. The fit is great and the 24 k of the frame makes excellent contrast points.

A bit bigger than the juliets, these still offer great coverage and a more "in" look if the juliets fit you.

Frame:X METAL/TIO2/24K
Lens:BLACK IRIDIUM/24K IRIDIUM

The first thing that hits the eye when it comes to x metal xx is of course the impressive 24k/24k iridium model.I guess that all of us oakley fans and collectors, were impressed by that. The presence of a true 24k gold finish on a pair of sunlasses, was way too much even for the standards of oakley!Yet,they went further beyond...
The true essence of the x metals is just that:the x metal finish/black iridium lens combo. It is simply astonishing!!!Just like with the romeo model, this combination is in my opinion, the greatest, and most inviting ever.It truly gives life to the excellent, yet very common(it's true) black iridium lens. The whole x metal concept is about scientific breakthroughs, and introducing something far beyond the usual,so I think, that nothing could compliment this pursue, more than this two great elements together.Furthermore, the enlarged orbitals give the whole notion,a deeper dimension, resulting to a very saturating result, both for the eye,and the imagination as well.In comparison, the juliet seems really small and insufficient in front of them. The orbitals of the x metal xx,seem to be more rationalized, closer to the actual dimensions that any given pair of sunglasses should have. They just seem more complete!!!After all, only the top sunglasses of oakley are entitled of this color combination, even though, all the x metal line should have a model with these colors.
Another characteristic that contributes in making them an one of a kind,is the earstems. They follow the pattern of romeo's earstems, thus giving the x metal xx,a unique, both elegant and serious look, something, that if you think a while, the juliets, just lack of.And just like the rest of the x metal line, the intake ports on the earstems is setting them apart from the rest of the whole line of oakley, whether they're o-matters,o-luminums,or magnesium. They're simply one of a kind.
The fit of them is just great. They hug the face well(consider that the earstems are so succesfully bent, that hug the head with all their length!!!),they stay tight, but they are comfortable and flexible at the some time, and it seems that the flex couplers do a really great job.Add to that the unobtainium nosebombs and earsocks, and you simply have the best grip ever on an oakley pair.Because of their enlarged orbitals, the change of lenses is very easy.
The TiO2 finish is remarkable. It's an even more succesful edition of the two finishes pattern that the 24k finish models adopt too.The TiO2 plates combined with the x metal bridge and earstems have a solid appearance, while not being as playful, loud and bright as the 24k combination. But nothing tops the x metal model...
Are these the best oakley models?Since I haven't owned the c-six,and the pit boss yet,I definitely think that yes, they are. They have outstanding look, beyond everything we could ever imagine,a titanium structure that will last for ever, and superior eye protection, courtesy of the ultimate black iridium lenses, and their also high end 24k iridium peers. Two of the best oakley lenses were hired to do the demanding job of rising up to the occasion for this top notch oakley pair of sunglasses, and both of them did their best.11 years ago oakley produced their absolute, most demanding, maximum pair of sunlasses, the oakley x metal xx,and I believe that they should have been in production for many years more, since they arrived straight from the future, and will be modern and attractive for many decades to come.Simply put, they are the absolute pair of sunglasses. What oakley is,and should really be about in the future as well!!!

Frame: X-Metal

Although a bit older in terms of frame style, the larger lens lends itself to be more "in" at the moment. That X-metal, Raw-Titanium finish gives these glasses a very cool industrial vibe.

The highly reflective Black Iridium Lenses are great out in sunny weather.

They feel super sturdy and with the flexing fit, they conform to your head and stay securely stuck to your face.

These are destined to be a timeless classic.

These have been a major want for some time, and on a whim, I stopped by the local Vault. The guy working recognized me, commented on the X-Squared I was wearing at the time, and we started talking about the XX. He then told me, without any prompting, inquiring, or urging by me, that he would use his employee discount to get them for me at his cost. I've been seriously considering dropping the $360 or so for them, but I ended up walking out with them for $111, after tax. Everything that can be said about these already has been said. They're wonderful. They're stunning. I've drooled over them for the past 11 years that they've been in production. The sheer length of production is a testament to their quality. In that respect, they're second only to the Juliet in regards to popularity. Regarding the fit, they're much looser than a Juliet. They're the happy medium between a Juliet and an X-Squared.

These are nice. They are very nice looking. You will get attention if you where these. Because of this I where them once in a while all the looks get annoying. If you like people looking at you all the time then get these! They are bling bling. Designer in look x2. It's jewelry on your face. The quality is great. The $400 is worth it. you feel the strength of the frame. The lens quality is awesome. Get these if you want some quality glasses that stand out....

Wow!...Frame and lens combination is Leonardo Da Vinci style. The gold tone is classy, not shiny/bling. The lens is superb when the sun is low, while others would make almost impossible to see. I can wear it all day without discomfort! It is worth the US$ 375

This combo doesn't exist. If and when the new X-Men First Class movie gets up and running, I think its about time the X-Metal XX got some respect from the X-Men franchise that made Juliet and Penny popular. If those 2 got this combo, its long overdue on the X-Metal XX. If not, re-release the penny of this combo for that new movie, with new thick and heavy coin and box.

Well, at the moment, I got the X-Men combo from this with a custom-cut M Frame Positive Red lens. It mega rocks but I'm waiting for an official one from Oakley. Come on, bring it on!

I really like the design of the Juliet's, but they are a bit small for my face (that won't stop me from getting one), so the XX are the best alternative for me and my big head.
The TiO2 color gives to the frame something even more interesting than the standard X-metal. Black Iridium lens is a classic and perfectly matches this frame color.

They are a bit heavy, but that's what you get when you choose a big metal frame.

Love these glasses. Bought them in 2001 This was my first pair of Oakley's. I tried the Juliets on and they were too tight. So i went to the xx's and fell in love. I chose the Ti02/Black Iridium for the subtle beauty.

Here it is 8 years later, and i still love and wear these glasses on a daily basis. I'm considering selling these glasses, let me know if you're intersted! Glowplug26@Gmail.com

These are by far the most incredible glasses I have ever seen. As soon as I saw them in my local O-Store, I knew I had to have them. Thankfully, upon trying them on, they fit me like a glove and looked great on me. After purchasing them, I had them sent out to Oakley to put my prescription in them and I upgraded them to polarized lenses as well. Now, in my opinion, I have a pair of the most absolutely stunning sunglasses ever created. At first, I was going to go with the Juliets, but the far-superior eye coverage of the X-Metal XX as well as the hammerstems made the decision to go with these an easy one. Now that they are finally complete, I couldn't be happier with my decision!

Frame: Titanium
Lens: Black Iridium plus other non-Oakley lenses

Of my collection, love the look of these the most. I have a large face and the Juliets don't look right on me, the extra size of these lenses is so much better for larger faces, though I also wish they were wider as well as taller. Saying that they're coverage is unsurpassed, nothing gets past these.

Compared to my others, I have to admit they're not the most comfortable to wear because of weight and fit on nose/ear stems, can't get the combination of relacement rubbers right - swop them every now and again thinking they're better, then swop back again later...

However saying that, still adore the look of these glasses which I believe stand heads above the plain X-Metal (probably better for a variety of lens colours though) or 24k finishes (sorry, don't do 'bling', don't get me wrong I love the stares you get with TiO2's, it just they're curious stares as opposed to 'you flash *expletive*' looks).

Have a variety of replacement lenses (blue mirror/silver mirror/black mirroor)from alternative sources, but what these really need is a set of polarised lenses.

All said and done of all the Oakleys I owned, these are by far the most collectable and I want to keep them forever!

My first and favorite pair of sunglasses. They're extremely light and durable and the 24K Iridium is just pretty as hell. It's extremely reflective to anyone looking at you and the lens color stands up to bright sunlight extremely well. All in all, its an absolute pleasure to wear.

I really like these glasses. I was initially drawn to them by the flashy color combo of the 24k/24k. The two tone frame looks awesome and the 24k lens to match makes this a really cool pair to look at.

Overall the glasses are just larger than a juliet. Not only in the orbitals, but i feel that the frame is wider as well. They do not fit as tightly on my face as juliets which is nice becuase some juliets are rather tight on me. The larger orbital does have its drawbacks for me though simply becuase they do not fit me as nicely as the juliet. They look a little bit goofy on my face. Nothing against the glasses though, they just arent made for my face type. Overall excellent glasses. Cant go wrong with a xx

Love the size of this pair, every time I seem them it reminds me of the original Romeo in size but they look like an up scale model of the Juliets they are a bit heavy no my head I wish they were a bit lighter and they had more color options available a ruby or +red would make thsi pair a lot better and i would recomend getting them.

Aesthetics derived from one of Oakley's most revered pairs of shades (the Juliet) allow most to instantly recognize the X-Metal XX as premiere eyewear. As with its predecessor, the XX offers flex couplers and interchangeable, unobtainium temple shocks and nosebombs for a customized fit. The orbitals, however, are enlarged to provide greater coverage, so those with smaller or medium profiles will likely prefer the Juliet. Hammerfang earstems are a nice touch to complete this eyewear, and the TiO2 frame probably represents the best choice for collectors since the 24/24K version was overproduced.

The best Oakley's I have ever owned. Without a doubt. Seconding the remarks "karMeister" said, I'm on my 2nd pair after losing a pair. It hurt so bad I bought the replacements the same week. Too bad the bastards that have them now don't appreciate them like I do - the TiO2 is a great color frame and I get compliments on them everywhere. I'm certain that they are futuristic enough that I could wear them for the next 100 years and still blend in to society nicely! Sure, they're heavy, they don't bend or compromise, but damnit these are the best sunglasses I have ever owned!

Frame: XX 24k

I got a craving for a good pair of sunglasses a while back. I was tired of the 10 dollar cheapo's at the gas station. I had a pair of frogskins back in the days, and I wanted to give oakley a shot of my funds. Im a straight gold person, not platinum, or white gold, these were the ones for me.

I have a "medium" sized head, and these aren't too big at all. I was seeing the rubys and the blacks on ebeg, but these were the ones for me, I liked the color, so I scooped em. Not long after I found CustomXmetal.com, then seen they sell on Ebay, I had to pop for a ruby quartz lens pack. Just bought the lens today, can't wait to see the combo.

Overall, I love the glasses, the brown tint is nice, and reduces glare and brightness quite nicely.... I'm in Minnesota and the snow glare can give you a headache. So I'm gonna add a set of the greys later on. A lil tight around the temples with the size 25 in the side, but not too much. Very springy bridge to absorb the squeeze.

Frogskins are next on my list! Clear/violet is my style.

Frame: X-Metal
Lens: + Red Iridium

The Juliets are a little small for my face so the XX is the best fitting style for me. The only problem is the XX doesn't come in any colors really. This pair is custom work of Keystone Corporation. I've always wanted the X-Men pair(ruby), but when I tried them on they were too small so I was dissappointed bc I really liked that frame/lens combo. The current generation ruby is too orange/yellow for me so I really wanted the +red. These are probably the rarest pair out there since they were custom cut lenses. I have plasma/ice, ti02/black, but I would trade in both of those pairs to have the +red X-Metal. Definitely have to get these if you can find someone to custom cut the lenses for you.

The 24K/24K XX X-Metals are truly a sight to behold! From a liquid-gold mirrored finish on the lenses to the two-toned "silver & gold" frames, this pair receives attention and respect that many other pairs could only dream of. To add to the ameneties, the X-Metal frame is extremely durable and features flex-couplers, temple shocks, and nosebombs that provide a customized fit. For those who find the Juliet a bit small, the lenses on the XX provide the extra coverage necessary.

These are great, but a little heavy. They have all the edgy styling of the Juliet, but the increased coverage fits my face better. They have almost identical coverage to the Half Jacket XLJ, which is my favorite pair of all. I replaced the ear socks with the red color for a Ducati-esque feel. They're great, but a little heavy for my tastes. I might part with these at some point now that my lighter Romeo 2's have satisfied my X-Metal lust.

One of the best oakley frames out there!.Theyre too good I had to get anther pair when I lost the 1st. And it wasnt an easy pair to find! Something to stay apart from the "normal" juliet which is very common. Tio2 being a rare combo looks very good. Its just perfect! I dont like the 24k its just too flashy and it doesnt match well with stuff you wear. And it keeps people looking at your glases when the purpose why you got those glases was to compliment your face ehehe its attention that you wouldnt want, unless ofcourse if you have your self esteem resting on your glasses ehehe. Well its really a personal opinion. The Tio2 on the other hand is just apart from the norm! The hammer earstems r0x0rs!!! The downsides are the lenses that scratch easily, the lack of lens options and the nosebridge being locked by a rivet. (they should have used a screw or something that you could take off easily but stay there) To sum it all up... Im sticking with this! these are killer glases to have! ...If you can find them =P

These are my first XX X-Metal but wow - I am liking them even more than I thought. The fit is great and the coverage is even better. Even better, I think, than the Juliet. Do yourself a favor and pick these up - in any combo - if you haven't already.

I don't know what aspect of this particular colorway would actually capture and keep someone's attention, but it's your classic X-Metal/Black that exists in all current X-Metals except the Penny. It's not flashy, it isn't going to turn heads, but if that's what you want this may be a good option for you. The XX works well for medium to large-sized heads.

Frame: TiO2
Lens: Black Iridium
The XX is a great frame and I am growing to appreciate it much more these days. Only available in 4 colorways, there was never a huge amount of buzz with these ones, but they are a fantastic X-Metal in every sense of the term. They are durable, comfortable, and they are precisionly-crafted. Some people like swapping the lenses around, but those people are loco. The TiO2 gets customized with Ice lenses quite a bit by people, but I firmly believe they look best with the original Black Iridium. The Black Iridium is a bit on the boring side, but a great lens nonetheless.

Easily the most difficult to track down nowadays. I had put this one off for too long because I just didn't think I would like it. Afterall, it is the identical colorway as the Plasma/Ice Juliet. Strangely enough, I enjoy this pair much more than its Juliet compatriot. The XX is a bit more comfortable than the Juliet. Can't quite find the words to describe it but it isn't as constrictive. Might have something to do with the larger orbitals or the hammer earstems - I don't really know. I'll end by saying this, I have never been a fan of the Plasma/Ice setup but the XX is changing that. Good luck finding one though.

I got this pair with the intention of changing the earstems on the Juliet, which I did... for about 2 weeks. I have a pretty huge head so this has a better coverage than the Juliet. The hammer earstems make them ultra sweet looking. I swapped the Juliet earstems into them and noticed that the entire frame becomes somewhat asymmetrical without the hammer stems.

Nice to have for those with a large skull but Juliets will fit most people fine. I just wish there were more color schemes to make them more appealing. Personally, the TiO2/Black Iridium combo turns me off.

bought these on Ebay a long time ago (before O-Review actually). sadly, they didn't fit so i had to sell them off on Ebay. that said, they are abosultely a beautiful pair of sunglasses. i love the contrasting colours on the TiO2 finish and the large lens orbitals. my kingdom for a pair of X-Metals that'll fit me!

In my opinion, the most beautiful of all Oakley sunglasses. They're like facial jewelry & get noticed as such! I love them!

Frame: 24k
Lens: 24k
I first became aware of this model when I saw Aussie cricket legend Shane Warne at a one-day test in Christ Church. I kept annoying everyone with constant comments about his glasses. They, like Warnsey, are 'totally flash'. They are a bit pricey but that just adds to the prestige I guess. The XX is a highly-successful design and it fits and feels just like the Juliet to me. The wider lens provides better coverage, but this particular pair is more a statement than a practical pair of eye protection. Completely stunning X-Metal specimen. I look forward to completing the XX set some day.

one of the oakley must ownes, dunno why its taken me so long to grab a pair.
ive got the TI02 but these are just different, the gold looks so nice with the 24k lens and just commands respect when you wear them in public.
very worthy of their hefty price tag.
id love to see a polished pair, DAMN!!

For guys with larger heads, these are probably the best X-Metals you can get. They're not that heavy, the design is sharp, the lens coverage is excellent, and the TiO2 finish, while subtle, is beautiful. I like these a little bit more than that Juliets since the bigger lenses cover more and the hammer earstems fit just a little bit more comfortably. These get 5 stars, not because that's what they deserve but because that only as high as the rating system allows.

I love the frame. That's what sold me on getting a pair of the X-Metal XX's. I think the fit is better/more comfortable for someone with a slightly larger face. I wasn't sure on getting another pair of X-metals with Black Iridium, to me the Black Iridum is just a bit too dark, but I'm very glad I did. I highly recommend these!!

These are the most stunning sunglasses that Oakley makes in my opinion! Just beautiful!
I always wanted a pair, but was afraid that the lens would not be dark enough for me. I usually favor black irridium and ice lenses.
I saw a used pair on ebay that was in mint condition, so I put a bid in and surprize I was the winner.
I LOVE these sunglasses! I never have to squint and I can wear them even in the brightest light conditions.
I should have bought these years ago :)

I love the look of these. These are on my wishlist. I will get these on day. I love Juliets and I love the gold, so this a natural choice.

Lens: Black Iridium

I bought a pair of these off eBay because I wanted to customise my Juliets with hammer earstems. Once I got them, I didn't want to let them go! They are really awesome, and they give the style of the Juliet with extended lens coverage.

The Tio2 frame is a surprisingly very cool frame. It brings an extra touch of coolness. Like now, you can really SEE that the frame is composed of different parts.

(In fact, I like the Tio2 frame so much, I bought a pair of titanium dioxide Juliets off ebay, and am going to put ice polarized lens in them.)

I put the traditional straight Juliet earstem on these and begrudingly sold them to my friend. Maybe one day I will buy the 24k combo.

Way too big for me. I will actually use this as part for my long term project of the 24k juliet

One of the most expensive looking sunglasses made.
They just look worth the money when you see them up close.
Unlike designer sunglasses that you just pay to have the name stamped on the side.
Could'nt actually see anybody wearing these unless you are seriously rich....I treat mine like a piece of jewellery.

A sweet addition to those that love the Juliets. Very few folks probably really have "too big" a face for the Juliets since they seem to fit almost everyone just lovely. But for those that want a bigger look, the XX fit the bill perfectly. The contrasting colors of the 24k is a major bonus.

Love the glasses, I wear them all the time. I would love Oakley to make availible the ice Iridium lenses or a polorized version. Its nice to know that the frames on the glasses aren't going to crack and render my expensive glasses useless.

Frame: TiO2 (Titanium Oxide)

I traded in my Romeo's which had stress fractures in the lenses, and due to that defect, I got a pair of X Metal XX's of same value for free. I love my 24k's, but these are more subtle and have the same feel. I'm not a huge fan of Black Iridium, but it's not bad. These are great alternatives to Juliet's if those don't fit you as well.

Think of these as the Juliet for bigger heads. They have the same basic frame as the Juliet except enlarged for larger heads and faces and have the Romeo ear stems. The black iridium lens is terrific for bright sunny days. They are amazingly lightweight for a metal frame and extremely comfortable. When I take them off I don't have those wear marks most people typically get around the bridge of their nose. Really badass shades. I would like to see these in the shiny frame though with a choice of fire or emerald lenses.

Frame:TI02

These were one of my favourite pairs of Oakley's before I changed the lens and now that I changed it from Black Iridium to the 24K its even better. Like the Gold iridium lens the increased contrast makes everything look so much nicer when you have them on. I have too many Oakley's with the Black Iridium lens and only one other with the 24K lens. so if you have a pair of XX X-metal I highly recommend changing the lens to a 24k unless like my brother you already have the 24K/24K versions.

Frame: 24K
Lens: 24K Gold Iridium
These were my second ever pair of oakley sunglasses, and what a pair to jump from owning a humble Eye Jacket. I first saw these in an ad in a magazine, and fantasized about them. When i actually saw them in real life, i instantly fell in love with them! They were damned expensive for a pair of shades. It took me a while to justify the price. After a few visits to the store i realised i had to have them, so i put them on lay-by. This is very much a top shelf product. Having an everyday pair of shades is one thing. Having one of these takes things to a whole new level. This is not just a sunglass, it is a work of art! I had a store assistant once making a point that his first car cost the same as these glasses. But my point is, these glasses are the equivalent of owning an exotic sports car. Thats how i see things. I have taken very good care of them. I used them quite often in the early days, wearing them on special occassions and so on. I went to a wedding once and this dude had the same pair on. That was cool. I dont wear these much, partly because they have been discontinued and want to keep them in good condition, and partly because i have a choice of other oakley shades to wear. They proudly sit inside a large x-metal vault.
