Frame: Crystal Black
Lens: BIP

This was the first pair of Oakleys I ever purchased. I got them new in 2006 at a local SGH and was very happy with the them (as a 16 year old, any Oakley is a good Oakley).

A medium sized frame with a pretty good wrap, the Fives 3.0 were a solid modern looking update to the Fives family. Being constructed of the newer blend of O Matter made the frames very light and durable. I was always the envy of my friends who loved the sleek look and HDO optics built into the lenses. They were perfect for driving, snowboarding that one time I went, wearing to the beach and working outside.

Unfortunately my pair came to an untimely end when I left them on a table at a party. They weren’t stolen; even worse. Someone bent the frames inside out and held them in that position for long enough to basically flatten them. Kids can be dicks.

I was lucky to find the same pair about 12 years later! I helped a lady pick out a new pair of shades and she gifted me her old pair. I purchased a new Five Squared and popped the new BIP lens into the old frame and can happily say that they’re back in my collection.

A great frame for everyday use, the Five 3.0 is a great choice for your intro to the Obsession.

Frame: Brown Smoke
Lens: Dark Bronze

A good entry-level Oakley. This incarnation of the Five line incorporates the square-ish lens shape and finned earstems that are so prevalent in Oakley's styling these days. It is lightweight and stylish without being too radical.

Unfortunately, the nosebridge area is rather thin, so these sit very close to my face, and the bottoms of the orbitals tend to sit on my cheeks. Nothing unbearable, but I can't wear these for long periods of time. This is mainly due to my Asian nose, although other O-Matter frames do have thicker nosebridges that fit better. Also, the earstems have very little curvature, so grip is minimal, especially if you put your glasses on top of your head when you go indoors.

The Brown Smoke frame is yet another nice crystal O-Matter color. I like this variation of brown much more than some of the others such as Polished Rootbeer or Dark Amber. The Dark Bronze lens is a good basic tint for folks that enjoy increased contrast.

I got these as a pair for my girlfriend a while ago. They were we first pair and she fell in love with them (they were custom). They're still her favorite pair (even after her using the SI Flaks and Pockets). They're a great active pair for a casual day out with friends. Nice basic introductory pair!

Frame: Dark Grey
Lens: Emerald Iridium (Custom)

Wow these look just like X-Metals! Even though it's O-Matter the Dark Grey frame looks just like real X-Metal! I purchased these via Ebay from a Top Australian seller, who gave unbeatable service! The Dark grey Frame really works with the Emerald Iridium lenses! The view through the base is super clear and soothing!. The Emerald Iridium coating looks oh so cool with the metalic frames! They are very comfortable too! IMHO it's the best genuine Oakley custom I've ever owned! These are my specials!

Frame: Crystal Black
Lens: Black Iridium Polarized

I found these for $50 and couldn't pass up the deal. The glasses cost me less than Oakley's website was charging for the lenses alone.

First the pros: The lenses are great, very dark. On a sunny day it doesn't get any better. They are also a life saver on snowy days. You can never see my eyes. They look good and I've gotten several compliments, despite being relatively innocuous for Oakleys. They are comfortable and seem durable as well. Despite the lack of Unobtainium, they never fall off or slide.

Now for the cons: I can always see the frame and there is a small window of no coverage where they rest on my nose. My cheeks constantly hit the bottom of the frame. The lenses are so dark that I often have to take the glasses off to read on the bus.

Overall, this pair of glasses was well worth the money, but far from perfect.

Frame: Crystal Black
Lens: Black Iridium Polarized

My previous comments on this frame still apply, except I like this colorway better. The Crystal Black is a sweet frame color, and the Black Ir. Polar lenses are sweet. Overall a better looking version of these than my first pair (Brown Tortoise/Bronze Polar), so I'll bump them up 1 skull to a 4.
ShadyOak -
Frame: Brown Tortoise
Lens: Bronze Polarized

These are a good, very basic, very conservative pair of glasses. They are light and fit me well, but feel a little cheap. The "pixelated" finish of the tortoise finish looks ok from a distance, but very synthetic up close. The lens coverage is pretty good, but not great. The lenses themselves are a very functional tint, good for driving and overcast, but lacking in the looks department.

For me these will make a good pair to throw in the glove box (in a soft case) for driving and just in case purposes. The points docked are for blandness, and "cheap" feeling frame.

Frame: crystal black/olive
Lens: black iridium polarised/grey
got the clear back.black iridium polarized, my first and only polarized pair of oakleys. black iridium is my fav colour and these look and fit snug to my face. love this combo and would definately get some more of these.
only bummer is bottom of the lenses sometimes touch my cheeks
B3 -
Frame: Matte Black
Lens: Grey (Ducati)

These are by far one of my favorite pairs of Oakleys. I've tried on other Fives 3.0, and they are not near the quality of my Ducati pair. The earstems wrap on my smaller sized head perfectly, giving a light weight comfortable fit. If I plan on wearing shades for a long period of time, more often than not I grab these.

Frame: Grey smoke
Lens: grey

These are great glasses, i bought a pair of these that were dark grey and bronze lenses, and they were ok but the grey smoke feel great on my face and now im thinking about getting the Oakley Oil Rig. Those look good. Over all great glasses, 5 skulls.

Frame: Brown Smoke
Lens: Dark Bronze
Got these yesterday as an unannounced gift from my girlfriend. I've only had a handful of sunglasses I look good in and my last Os were about 20 years ago.

These make me look like a rockstar and I think they're awesome. I'm stunned that she picked ones that look so good on me. They fit closer to my face than most glasses and are super light. I wouldn't want the frame to be any smaller.. right on the edge of being a tiny bit too small but not quite. Color is great, clarity and image sharpness stellar.

They don't feel cheap at all to me. They're the lightest pair of sunglasses I have but the fit and finish are excellent. They're not for driving because the frame blocks some peripheral vision. I'm an average sized white male brown hair light complexion. Very happy with them.

Frame: Matte Black (ducati)
Lens: Black iridium

Have not bought any Oakleys for years as couldn't find any that suited me well. Then came along the 3.0 fives! Great fit, very light without feeling cheap. Well worth the money! Lenses are nice and dark and matte frames look very nice against them.

Frame: cinder red
Lens: black iridium polarized

This is the first pair of polarized Oakleys that i have bought, I must say the lenses are impressive and very sharp on a sunny day. The frames are awesome and overall a great pair of sunglasses, i plan on buying a few more pairs by summer.

I have the ducati edition. They are very nice looking. They are a fairly comfortable pair of glasses to wear. The red O logo really jumps out and makes them more stylish than other pairs of Fives

Frame: Fives 3.0
Lens: Grey
This is my first pair of Oakleys. They are really light on my face and i can barely feel them when they are on. Im really quite impressed with the bang for the buck. I have a longer face but I prefer a more squared frame and the 3.0 sutied me perfectly. They have become my everyday pair. My only knock is they feel moderatley cheap.
BullyVW -
Frame: Smoke
Lens: Dark bronze

Overall, I think these are a nice, dressier version of the Oakley line. However, I rarely wear mine for one reason. I have a huge head, and even with my huge head, the arms still don't sit well on my head. If I lean over, they fall off. They've dropped too many times for my tastes...and since then...I've stopped wearing them but once a month or so.

Frame: Matte Black
Lens: Ice Iridium

I have to say these are my favorite O Matter frames, I had someone help me lose a set of customs that had the blue O's so I got another because I liked them so much (minus the blue O's).

I love the amount of coverage that is offered by these, and it is accomplished without being overly large. I have a small head and I did not realize how nice these were until I had to wear my old Minutes agian! The custom ones are by far better because the arms have more of a curve for a better fit without sticking out behind my head. I accually got rid of the dark gray ones because of the straighter arms that came on them.

Frame:crystal blue

these are mental, red and blue just look too cool together, ive been desperate for this frame colour but knew i wouldnt wear them if it was BI lens, so i saw these ruby versions and jumped all over them!

Frame: Dark Grey

These are really, really light. You can hardly feel them on your face. They look is great, but i wasn't satisfied with the overall quality. They felt too light and flimsy. I thought i was always gonna break them. If you're on a budget and looking for your first Oakley, then these well do the trick. I ended up selling them to a friend cause i just didn't like the quailty compared to my other glasses.

simplest of all simple. If u dont wanna standout, this is what u should wear. still got a nice red O emblem on the side

very comfy and easy to clean. I normally wear this on occassions that require u to look abit more conservative. simple but still has the O on both sides

Frame: matte black(Ducati)
Lens: black iridium
Out of all the oakleys I come to own or tried on. These are one of the cheapest quality O's I've come acrossed so far. But you definitely have to look at the price tag. If you consider what you pay, they are pretty decent. Light weight, not really recommended for sport. They look good regardless, and have decent coverage.
For the money.~ It's pretty good!!

Frame: Crystal Black
Lens: Black Iridium Polarized

I loved these at first, but once I got more full-coverage frames like the Spike, I fell out of love.

The crystal black is definately more of a green-ish, and the coverage is fine, but I dont like seeing the frame as I wear them.

They could use some unobtanium as well. They slide down every so often on my nose, and it can be quite annoying.

Great price point though.

Frame: polished black

gary scelzi sig. one of my favorite pairs of sunglasses, fit nice, lightweight, you can wear them all day and not even notice them. anytime im going to an O store that i havnt been to before i wear these cause i always get the employees asking where did you get those? also with a price like 90 bucks how can you go wrong, these have to be the best bang for my money that i have found yet.

Frame: Crystal Blue

These glasses feel as if they are going to fall apart in my hands! The only reason I got a pair was because I LOVE the crystal blue frame and if they get thrown around I dont' feel as bad because they are on the inexpensive side.

Frame: Matte Black
Lens: Black Iridium

A new classic design from Oakley, these seem to be a big hit when first released.
There is a nice range of colour options, so you can either be conservative, or go for a more cool/funky combination that change the look of the sunglass.
Quite a small design, so they are ideal for small faces.

This Ducati Fives 3.0 is really nice. Why?

The matte black / black iridium combo is great but the main difference to the other Fives 3.0 are the stems. They aren't straight! This Ducati Edition has own, curved stems - that's why it fits great! check this pic: http://www.o-review.com/images/Forum/Ijon__Tichy_VergleichFives3.0.jpg

Ijon__Tichy -
Frame: Brown Smoke, Polished Black
Lens: Bronze, Ruby
Almost everythin has been said - it looks like a small gascan and feels like a small gascan. The design is nothing special and stems are very straight so they fit/sit very loose. That's why I don't think that the fives has the bottlecap stems... the bottlecap fits great (and that without unob!)!
BUT they are cheap and durable. So... 3/5 is a positive rating.

Frame: Jet Black
Lens: Ruby Iridium
Talk about "Bang for the Buck". This Scelzi edition sports a beautiful ruby lens and a colorful red icon. They don't break the bank and the fact that they are a limited edition adds a bit to the overall appeal of these. Light and comfortable. Suits men and women, can't really go wrong with these. Call Hollie at the Rolling-O because they won't be around forever. Better yet, pick them up at the races from the actual Rolling-O showroom.

Frame: Black

Reall cool design and lightweight. The only problem I had with them was they didn't fit my head very well. I have a big head and that part of the shades actually fit well. The part that didn't fit was the nose area. I'm Filipino and have a flat face so these didn't sit very well on my nose.
RangerK -
Frame: Black Polished
Lens: Gary Scelzi Signature Ruby

I won't get involved in what is ruby or what isn't ruby. These are lightweight, great fitting sunglasses and I like the Ruby lens.
Rick -
Frame: Brown Tortoise
Lens: Bronze Polarized
Absolutley beautiful color combination. Picked these up for another girl I work with. They appeal to people who are a little more on the conservative side since the tortoise pattern is not a huge departure from traditional frame patterns. Combine this with a high-quality polarized lens and you have yourself a great pair of shades for a pretty decent price. The Fives 3.0 is a great way for someone to step out of the ordinary but not so much that they feel too "over the top".
Rick -
Frame: Cinder Red
Lens: Grey
Picked these up for a girl I work with. She has a tiny head and these were just perfect. Not that you need a small head in order for these to fit, but they do seem to fit a wide variety of head sizes. This will ensure they sell well. The Cinder Red frame is a great color and is very popular with people who see it. Very nice pricepoint on these. Might have to pick one up for myself one day.

Its a good thing I tried these glasses on when I was in a OPD.I always thought that these were made for small to medium face but to my surprise its fits me just fine.Ducati and Scelzi colors are awesome and Cinder Red are nice too.For a cheap prized O's I'm really impressed with it.

Ok i realize, im prolly being way picky but i thought the daekest lens color would be darker... could just be me. other than that i like them

A very cool new item. Not many Ruby choices left in Oakley's lineup. I wish the Icons were FMJ Red, rather than gloss red though.

Frame: Cinder Red
Lens: Grey
I bought these as a daily pair, since i'm out on the road everyday, If i was to loose them no big loss, buut since owning them it would be a huge loss. The Cinder Red color is totally amazing dark enough to look black but throw it into the light and it jsut sparkles red. The grey lens is simple but it suits me for driving and the varying weather conditions I can face o a day to day basis. They are light and never cumbersome to waer. Overall - looks brilliant, feels brilliant and doesn't hurt the budget. Possibly the most practical frame Oakley does. A+
LEX7 -
Frame:Brown Smoke

Love these, the first Five i can actually wear. these have a much much larger fit than the other to and have a decent lens coverage aswell. no unobtanium so not the best glasses to be worn in the water or while your sweating. i can see myself getting another pair of these cos they come in some very cool combos.

Lovely glasses - mega cool frame colour, very light but built to last and, as always with Fives, fit like a glove. Highly recommended.

Frame: Dark Grey

Got another one of these by surprise for Christmas. I'm actually loving these little guys a lot. They've become almost my daily pair. They're very light and fit very nicely, except for the slippage due to lack of wrap. But all the Gascan inspired pairs have that problem it seems.

Frame: Crystal Blue

I think O has really improved the Five design and fit for the 3.0. It has a much more universal fit for those with med-large heads, but still retains the reduced look to fit possibly the widest range of head sizes/shapes of most any O. Great styling and decent colors to choose from. I love this blue/black colorway ... even if the crystal blue frame is a bit of a visual annoyance when wearing them.
dan-E -
Frame: Crystal Blue
Lens: Black Iridium

Finally got to try these on and found out they're definitely made for smaller heads. That said, they base curve isn't that sharp has other models and the fit itself was snug but comfortable. The only reason I say that it's made for smaller heads is that the squarish design looks very narrow on my face. Still, the look, which resembles a Monster Doggle left in the dryer too long is attractive and the Crystal Blue frame is beautifully done. A good frame and a great value.
kingphilbert -
Frame: Crystal Blue
Lens: Black Iridium

The lowest price point is still massively impressive for style and fit. This round we are treated to a pair just a small percentage larger than it's predecessor and just a slightly looser fit due to a lessening of curve in the stems. Oakleys new edgier/angular style for frames has lent itself well to this style and the sqaure lenses are a treat. A great starter pair or a great accompanying pair to go with your entire collection that's sure to find use.
Dann -
Frame: Crystal Blue
Lens: Black Iridium

Great pair at a great price. It's ncie to have a pair come out and not break you at retail price. The crystal blue is a vibrant color which shines nicely and is not like the crystal blue on the Five 2.0, which is very dark, almost black when wearing. Th color is actually lifted of a Dragon frame color called Liquid Jewel. This has become one of my daily pairs, so I forsee a lot of use.
BrianJ1888 -
Frame: Crystal Blue
Lens: Black Iridium

Okay, so I went out and got the Blue ones, cuz they were so beautiful in person. A superb color. Anyway, they fit me great.

I've got a smallish head, but I wear anything up to the MD's. The orbitals fit just like my Hatchets do, tight up to my eyesockets. I push my glasses all the way back, up to the bridge of my nose though. When they're open, they feel great. Light, but not flimsy. Like the older generations of the Five, I believe the earstems to be the weakest link. They flex a lot. But that means they'll fit bigger heads. With the arms closed, I think they're a little on the loose side, but I think the Bottlecap-ish arms make me expect the locking cams.

Would get 5 stars if not for the perception of fragility.

I bought these along with the Dark Grey/Black Iridium combo and all I have to say "Man They Are BLUE!!" I personally like them just because my taste is kinda out there, but I can certainally undesrstand how they are not everyones cup of tea.
O_MattR -
Frame: Dark Grey
Lens: Black Iridium

Not having any of the previous Fives because of the small frame, I was surprised that I liked the fit of the 3.0. These are light and comfortable and almost remind me of what Bottlecaps with a full frame and Montefrio Stems would look like.

I got these on the 28th of october 2005 , and first impression is; very nice frame/fit/colorcombo's. my favo-color ; brown tortoise/bronze , least favo ; crystal blue. it is too bright IMO, when you lok through it , you can't help but look at the frame. very annoiyng

Brown Smoke would be my choice, only cuz it's an awesome looking color. I like how this is an extension of the Five line, but incorporatng new aspects of Oakley's current designs. The BottleCap earstems and the GasCan front make for a cool combo.
