Frame: Polished Black (Red Icons)
Lens: Fire Iridium Polarized
These are my favourite glasses now after trying so many pairs to get the right coverage and fit and lens colour. The frames are light and fit snug and if you have a small head you need to use the small nosepads as the big nosepads give too much of a gap at the bottom and you lose coverage. With the small nosepads you can get great coverage without the lenses touching your eyelashes or cheeks which is great as most smaller sunglasses need to sit too close to get coverage. The red icons compliment the fire iridium perfectly.
The fire iridium polarized is, in my opinion, the best lens oakley has produced. The green base allows you to see contrast but not too much to interfere with normal colour perception like in Titanium Iridium or Gold Iridium. The green base offers so much definition and colour seperation especially with trees. If you look at a cluster of trees with the naked eye all the shades of green blend together and look the same but when you look thru the fire iridium polarized any shades of light green stand out over the darker greens so each layer of green is seperated for better definition. Also, when in full sun with the sun in front of you at forehead height there is no glare. I have had VR28 Black Iridium Polarized while driving & walking with the full sun in front of me and the glare sheets across your vision and you can't see in front of you where fire iridium polarized has no sheet of glare at all and you can see right thru the glare.

If you want a pair of sunglasses that stay on your face..this is the pair! Great for sports. I bought the pair of the G30 lenes for these frames and they work great for golfing.
Frame: Midnight
Lens: Fire Iridium
Ive had these glasses for about 9 years now and they are still kicking. Ive put them through heck and back while camping, fishing, children playing with them and they keep going. They are truely amazing.
Frame: OCP Pearl
Lens: Fire Iridium
This frame was the best of it time, but now bigger and better things have come along like the Flack Jacket and Radar. This frame gets a 3 because it fits a little to small for my face.
Frame: Polished aluminum
Lens: Titanium iridium
Up to now I thought that the polished aluminum finish was suitable only for the new straight jackets, since the half frame seemed somewhat restrictive. But this one is far beyond what I could imagine.Unlike the smooth straight jacket design, this one is full of edges, and the finish makes all this shine.I would say that the other polished aluminum models such as the minutes, the fives 2.0 and the xx are rather boring.Put in the equation the titanium lenses with the distinguishing etching on their bottom, and you have a bright, shiny, blinding piece of eyewear. If it weren't for the polarized editions whose significance I can't doubt,I'd say that these are the best half jackets.
Frame: FMJ 5.56
Lens: Black iridium
Just got them and they have a killer appearance. The two color design although might seem dull,is full of contrast and brings up the aggressiveness of the frame, specially the fins. And after all this was the very first model of half jacket I ever saw, which means that I owed to myself to own this pair. And the fmj finish is fabulous as always.

Edit:I forgot to mention their icons. The half jackets have the best oakley icons ever. This type of icon looking more like a spaceship, with these buttons and notches,is something unlike any other available, and to my knowledge,it isn't apllied anywhere else. It's no coincidence that the 2003-2005 oakley generic box had this kind of icon.Even the elite icon looks cheap compared to that one.and this is what makes this amazing piece of eyewear even more special. Is it the best jacket? In technical terms, yes it is.Beyond this,it's up to the wearers,to decide what they like the most. But all the technical specifications converge to this one.Amazing, truly unbelievable.

I first saw them somewhere in 2004,and it was really love at first sight. However, being completely absorbed by splice, wiretap, and my all time love, the x metal xx,(they are still the ultimate oakleys, and no pit boss will be able to beat them),I actually never got the time for anything more serious. But it is finally the time I purchased them. What can I really say about them,or I should better say, what can I really say first about them? For starters, their design is totally oakley, with the half frame concept being already out of this world.and those fins on the earstems, very succesfully implemented I have to say, scream that this is no ordinary oakley. While the fins on the scars were rather exaggerated,(but this was what the scars should be all about),those ones are similar to the valves, just a little tilted outwards, but very succesful.Just like the wiretap fins I think. And the two pattern earstems with unobtainium being placed both on the front and rear edges of them, make the glasses look similar to rattle snakes. So,you'd better didn't mess with those oakleys! When I wore them for the first time,I was kind of surprised, since being a jacket(and not a frogskin),fan,I expected of course something very tight, but I thought they were closer to straight jackets. It seems that I overlooked that those were made with sports in mind. The fit is very tight, and I mean VERY tight, and right now,I really can't think of how are these ever going to come out of your head.Hands down, they've got the absolute fit! There is also absolutely not gap between their frame, and the head, making further impossible for them to slip, and let's not forget that because of the extra unobtainium closer to the temples, they got some additional grip. The finishes are what impress me the more:bronze, plasma, fmj, they are all classic old time, traditional oakley finishes, that I kinda miss nowadays, with all these simple o matter models coming out.Even for the standards of oakley, the half jackets are a special model.I love them.
Frame: Polished Black

A solid pair of glasses. These can be worn with just about everything. The orange icons compliment the lens. Fire iridium is dark enough for any bright light.

Frame: jet black
Lens:fire iridium
One of my first pairs in 2002. I was a freshman and played lots of sports, these glasses hugged my face perfect never even came close to falling off. and at the time the ability to interchange lenses was fantastic, id us them indoors with persimmon lenses and fire for the day
Frame: Jet Black
Lens: Fire Iridium
These are my first new pair of Oakleys, but I also have a pair of Mag Switchs I got used. They are really great even though the design is almost a decade old, they still look fresh and modern! I love the way the Fire Iridium looks on the black with the matching orange logo. They also look great as contrasting colors next to the Ice Iridium Mag Switch glasses I have.
Frame: Team Navy
Lens: Bronze/Fire Iridium
This is my second pair of half jackets and they are the custom ones. The frame is VERY durable. I had 250 pound fall on me, when playing football and the glasses didn't have a SCRATCH! VERY impressive. The ability to change the lenses comes in very handy, especially when golfing or fishing. I highly recommend these to anybody who is wanting their first pair of Oakleys. They will NOT be disappointed, in the least.
Frame: Black Chrome
Lens: Titanium Iridium
An all time classic IMO. Not as common as the m-frame which make them better for me. Lightweight, snug fit and a great peripheral vision. Also found these to fit very well on most faces.
Frame:Jet Black
Lens:Black Iridium Polarized
I bought these for my first pair and I have to admit, not that bad. Comfortable to wear and grip to your head really good. Exellent optical clarity and the polarized lenses are exellent on the slopes and on the lake. My parants thought I was nuts to spend $160 on a pair of shades, but even they admit they are really clear to look through. However, the Unobtanium ear socks start to cirl around the "o" logos and this will probably result in eventual replacement (4 out of 5). Still, a nice pair of shades.

I bought a pair of these a couple years back. I ended up selling them due to the weird "wings" on the earstems and because they were superceded by the Flak Jacket. They were good when I had them, but the became obsolete with newer technology, much like the Eyeshades to the M-Frame.
Frame: FMJ Copper/Carbon Fiber/Bronze/FMJ 5.56/Black
Lens: VR28 Black/Ice Polarized/Ti Polarized/Black Polarized/Ruby
Can you tell I like them? The Half Jacket is the most ingenious sunglasses design of all time, and the variety of frames and lenses make collecting them an addiction. But be careful when buying a frame color other than black. Oakley seems to have a problem with warped earstems on the non-black frames that will cause the frame to sit canted on your face. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars.
Frame: jet black
Lens: black iridium, ruby iridium, and positive red iridium
I was always a little wary of the open-design frame, but these are superb. After years with eye jackets that moved around a little on my face it is great to have a frame with nosebombs---these things don't move at all, all day long. I cannot pick just 1 lens, so having the option to switch things up everyday day is huge. Changing out lenses the first time was terrifying---I thought I'd break them or the frame, but now its easy, just push...HARD!
Frame: Black on black
Lens: Black Iridium
The first Oakley item that got me hooked on the brand - one look at the display cabinet was all it took, despite the £90 price tag! Absolute joy to wear. Stays on your face no matter how hard you try to shake it off, changeable lens is an absolute plus - I've yet tried these for airsoft just yet, contemplating using M Frames, but used while driving and cycling (H.I. yellow is a life saver in drab UK conditions), light at f@#k on your face and most of all - one looks damn good wearing them!
Frame:Matte Black (OCP) Chrome Icon
Lens: Ice Iridium with custom etching
Absolutely love them! I drooled over these for nearly 4 months, and finally got them as a graduation gift. The fit is fantastic, and stay on my face very well. The unobtanium makes it great when you're sweating, and want the glasses to stay on! The glasses are so comfy, I usually forget I have them on after about 10 minutes. The lenses are so clear, its amazing, because your view is not corrupted at all, its essentially like having someone turn down the brightness on your eyes! I'm very sensitive to light, so I need good glasses, and these fit the bill very well. The interchangeable lenses are great, and I plan on getting clear lenses to go with them, to play racquetball, and a HI yellow for adverse conditions. The matte black frame really sets off the Ice Iridium lenses, and gives them a beautiful contrast. I love the way they look, and people notice them a lot, and take second glances at these glasses!
Frame: Dark Grey & Jet Black
Lens: Titanium Polarized & Black Iridium
Classic Oakley - form, function and comfort. The design is timeless and with all the color options, one could find almost anything they are looking for. I'm not that big into changing around the lenses, but for athletes who need to, these glasses are a must-have. The Unobtainium does a great job both keeping these on your head as well as keeping you comfortable when wearing them for any length of time. Overall, definitely five skulls worthy.

As you can see, I am a fan of these frames and lenses. A little bigger and wider than the average person I appreciate the great
fit on my head/face. And it really stays there no matter how you
push on! (cycle myself). The price is moderate and the choice of finishes and lenses makes the business interesting.

This pair of glasses is one of my favorites when it come to sport performance the have and extremely grate grip that keeps them on my face no matter what, and all the lenses that are available just make it even better to use in different light conditions easy to swap in and out and look good w/ any thing I wear so I don’t have a problem wearing them any time I would recommend this pair to any one and if you have a big face no worries it’s available in an xlj as well and w/ all the new team colors make it even better
Frame: Jet Black
Lens: Black iRidium (Polarized)
This is my 2nd pair of half jackets... I got them 2nd hand at a good price, but the previous owner too wasn't forthcoming in the description, so there are a few scratches on the lenses. I actually like them tho, maybe enough to keep them. Time will tell. The jet black frame material is identical to my recently purchased flak jacket (which dispelled my fears of it peeling like my other pair of matt black half js)...
I'll give these a 4-4.5 stars because of the good fit, and the way they look. This is the non-Asian model and it fits my face relatively well, albeit the bottom of the lenses touch my face a little. Though the look isn't as aggressive or sporty as the XLJs, the normal lenses have a sort of quiet cool to it. The frame will come in very handy should I ever decide to change the lenses (FIRE iridium XLJ! :P) I'm leaning more to keeping them...
Frame: Black
Lens: Fire Iridium
I've owned many sets of Oakleys dating back about 20 years. I've bought most for cycling (but a few for the coolness factor) but these are absolutely the best. These glasses fit my face perfectly and don't let light in from the nose piece or from the sides. They also don't come off much from my face during the riding. I have a set of Twentys that fit almost equally well but the bottom of the frame can obscure my view when I turn around to look whose behind me. These will likely my favorite set for a long time.
Frame: jet black
Lens: VR50/Brown transition
they are perfect for any type of cycling. i use mine when i go off road on my mountain bike. My eyes are always protected from stuff flying into them, as well as all the harmful UV from the sun. With the lens changing from dark to light, when i crash and burn its not because the sun was blinding me, or because i couldn't see.
and with the unobtainium i don;t have to worry about these slipping.
on the downside i tend to have issues with them fogging up when i stop, and since the darkness is determined by the amount of UV, they don't get as dark in the car because the a lot of the UV is filtered out by your windshield
Frame: Plasma
Lens: Gold Iridium
One great pair of shades although paint was rubbing off and lens were scratched. Just got mine back from Oakley, they replaced them and only charged me $40. Great deal w/ the knowledge that they were more than a year old.
Frame: Matte Black
Lens: none (frame only purchase)
I've been searching high and low for the matte black Half Jacket and finally found a store that sold it - frame only too!!! I love the frame colour - its nice and clean. I'm not sure if my pair is the SI Frame since the icons are silver and the stenciling on the nosebridge is white. Also, the earsocks don't extend all the way to the "bud" at the end of the stems, but thats ok. I can always buy a replacement kit. The fit is perfect as usual with the larger nose bombs. I currently have HI persimmons on and they look great. If you don't want a flashy frame colour, get the matte black or grey!

I gave these an extra star for being all white. I love this pair. The look is awesome. Again, even though its a women's model, I will sport these. The only drawback is the white sleeves and temple pads can get dirty.
Frame: Powder Blue
Lens: Slate Iridium
This color scheme is awesome. Even though these are a women's model, I would without hesitation sport these. Eye coverage is excellent and the frame is very light weight.
Frame: Polished Aluminum
Lens: Titanium Iridium
I was truly pleased with the glasses until the coating started to peel. Still truly appreciate the color of the frame and lens color combination. Oakley is supposed to have a honorable warranty policy. I will fill you in later as to how honorable they really were.

These are great for running, they fit nice and snug and breath really well. I use them with the larger nose pads for more cheek clearance, but without them they are fine for everyday use. Got the first pair for free, got the second out of "necessity".
Frame: Pearl
Lens: Black Iridum
This works extremely well as a contrast, being a star wars fan I liken these to the kind of sunglasses you could imagine a stormtrooper wearing while enjoying a spot of R&R lol
Frame: Jet Black
Lens: Black Iridium
My first Oakleys. They're lightweight, look great, offer excellent eye coverage, and stay on my head. The Jet Black frame looks sleek and goes well with a variety of lens options.
The Half Jackets sit pretty close to your eyes; the top of the frame will brush up against your eyebrows. After heavy use the tops of the lenses will get pretty gunked up with oil because of how close they sit to your face. But of course, without the lenses so close to your eyes, you wouldn't get the excellent coverage that these sunglasses offer.
Removing the lenses is a pretty scary ordeal at first -- putting them back in made me think I was going to snap the frame in half -- but it's not that hard once you get used to it.
I love my Half Jacket. They're worth every penny.
Frame: Jet Black

My golfin' Oaks! Frames are lightweight and fit securely and the fire lens are superb.
Frame: Pearl
Lens: Ti Clear
Awesome shades. I can't get enough Pearl frames. They look so clean. These were done through the BTO program. Ti Clear lenses are awesome for overcast and to look stylish. The best of both worlds, Ti Clear and Pearl.
Frame: Jet Black
Lens: Black Iridium Polarized
Really clean looking frame. The Jet Black is a very glossy black. I'm not a big fan of the polarized lenses but I got it for cheap so I can't complain. I swapped the lenses out with fire Rx.
Frame: Pearl
Lens: Black Iridium and Titanium Iridium
These have been used as my beater pair for sports when I feel that the X metal is not valuable for the occasion. They held up really well and I changed the titanium lenses in for driving recently. The black gloss frame would have been very suitable for semi-formal occasions as well.
Very versatile with many choices for customisation. They are unisex and my wife wears them sometimes.
Frame: Black
Lens: Clear
Use the combination while playing squash, so it's been tested to the extreme - including getting hit with a racket.
It's comfortable, with a secure fit. It does not slip down my nose, so I don't need to push it back up, taking away my concentration.
The lens is perfect! No blurs or distortion whatsoever. Besides that, it is virtually unbreakable, hence the racket it stopped.
Frame: Pearl
Lens: Ice Polarized
Have to be the most versitile pair of glasses I own. I can go to work in these, do my bike races, do what ever and still look good. Awesome color too, not really matte but not a polished finish either.
Frame: Matte black, gunmetal logo (SI frame)
Lens: Grey Polarized, titanium polarized
I have the SI version of the Half Jackets. I wear these glasses the most becuase I need conservative glasses for work and it doesn't get much more conservative than the SI versions. I like the way Splice looks a lot also, but I don't wear them that much right now.
These glasses are very comfortable and stay put on my face. The gentle give and the Unobtanium keep the glasses on my face very well. I can go running and these glasses don't budge a bit - I do trail running too. The Unobtanium gets a bit sticky when I get sweaty which I find to be a great feature. It helps the glasses stya on my face better.
The grey lens not very dark and is great for the shorter days during the winter and most of the summer too. It's a great all-around lens and I find I like them a bit better than black iridium polarized. The titanium iridium polarized lenses are starting to become my favorites because it enhances contrast.
I often forget that I'm even wearing them because of good coverage, optical quality, and comfort. It does feel very strange when I take off the glasses after having worn them with the titanium leses though because of the color shift.
Frame: Polished Black
Lens: Black Iridium
This becomes my alternate for my M frame when I'm out riding my roadbike. Fits well, though not much coverage compared to mframe. However, this is more versatile since you can wear it on nonsports activities.
Frame: FMJ 5.56
Lens: Ti Clear
I had to get these BTO and it was well worth it. The frame is very cool while the Ti clear lens is awesome. Now I'm wanting Ti Clear on all my frames, or at least have that option to swap out.
Frame: Ducati
Lens: Black
I love the Red/Black combos that Oakley does. These are really cool and they stand out very well. I wish that Oakley decided to put the logo across the nose bridge. Still, very nice pair. All I need is a bike now.
Frame: Pearl
Lens: Black Iridium
Leave it to Oakley to come out with dual-exchangable lens sunglasses that are functional, fit well, and not cumbersome. I'm a longtime fan of the M-Frame and their easily switchable lenses and great functionality so I really don't have a need for Half Jackets but I love how they look and their comfortable fit. The new pearl frame is quite attractive and the riveted Icons are pretty cool. However, they're on the smaller side so those with big heads might feel a pinch.
Frame: FMJ 5.56
Lens: Black
One of my fav pairs of Oakley's. Very comfortable. I love that you can easily change lenses. I need to get some more since I just have the stock pair of black Iridium. Oakley should make a case just for lenses so rabid O fans like us can take one of every color with us!! The only possible negative about these is the earstems are a little bulky. That and I never really liked the rivited icon on these, but these are minor gripes on what is otherwise an awesome glass.
Frame: Jet Black
Lens: Fire Irridium
I kind of got these by default - but wow...man these things are comfortable....I can't believe how light they are....I definitely see more frame/lens combo's in the future. Highly recommend!

For style... for sports... golf... whatever... these are perfect. The best thing about them: custom make the colors you want. There's 2 lens types (other is XLJ) and if you can get your hands on some other colored earsocks, nose piece and lenses... even the dicontinued ones... you've got yourself a custom Oak. Wear them for fashion or active sports.
Frame: Black Chrome

Very cool sunglasses, and I particularly like this colourway as it looks the business. I really like the titanium iridium, both to look at and to look through! I only give it a 4 personally because XLJ lenses are better for my face.

These were the first Oakleys I bought for my husband, and they looked awesome on him. They are a little wide for smaller faces, but still beautiful, versatile sunglasses.
We ended up giving them to someone as a Christmas present because the guy wouldn't stop going on about how much he loved them, so I'll be picking up another pair soon...

When people say "I just got a new pair of Oakleys", usually what runs through your head is good instead of bad. That is because Oakley makes probably the best sunglasses on earth. The Oakley half jackets is another reason why your thoughts about oakley sunglasses will be good instead of bad. Although I never have owned a pair personally, my friend happened to leave me his ( for a few months ) and I have had extensive time to find out how good they were. First off they fit excellent. Not tight at all like some oakleys I have owned and own. The love the arms how they kind of swing up instead of straight across. Overall looks of these are great if you like the bottom half of the frame gone around the lenes. Me personally I prefer a full jacket is the only reason I rated them a 4. Most of these glasses are in the cheaper to medium range price for oakley prices. So if you are looking for some glasses with only half the frame around the lens, incredible looks and protection, Look no further than the Oakley half jackets!

Pro's in comparrison with other cycling (my main use) glasses:
* accessories and lenses are widely available.
* they also look good when used for other purposes than cycling.
* excellent range of lens options.
* excellent fit.

* the stem's don't combine well with hat's, beanies and helmets.
* bit more expensive than the competition.

A great pair of glasses for sport. A definite alternative to those that aren't flattered by the M-Frame. Very light, comfortable, and it's great to not have to worry about the frame getting into your line of sight with the half frames. I really like the overall lines/styling of the frames, especially the color contrasts.
Frame: White Camo
Lens: Titanium Iridium
If I could, I'd give these more, simply because their only sold in Japan. The White Camo on this one is different from the Monster Dog; it's glossy compared to the Dog's matte finish. The manager at a store in the mall looked baffled when he saw these.
Frame: Black Chrome
Lens: Titanium Iridium
I tried these on with the intent of buying, but quickly found that they were not made for a very wide range of head sizes. They are very nice, but only accomodate a small range of head sizes. Still, very nice color scheme.
Frame: Jet Black
Lens: Black Iridium
Extremely comfortable. They’re so light you simply forget they’re there. I play basketball with them outdoors and, being very sensitive too bright light, I have to wear sunglasses. I tried different kinds, and the half-jackets are amazing. I simply forget they’re on, and when I run my towel over my face I bump into them. I also snowboard with them when conditions don’t require goggles, they’re perfect.
I recommend them highly.
Frame: Jet Black

I've borrowed these a few times and they feel very comfortable. The lenses aren't the easiest thing to perform a 'quick swap', but are fine for daytime/evening lighting changes. The Thumbprint icon seems to rub its coating off though.
Frame: Midnight
Lens: 24k Iridium
I've had these glasses forever and can be used for almost everything. Unobtanium on nose and earstems made this a comfortable glass to wear, 24k lens was a plus in really bright conditions. The hinges were very loose on mine so putting them on with one hand was tricky, but once they're on you can't go past how good you actually look in them.
Frame: Polished Aluminum
Lens: Titanium Iridium
Just so you know.. this pair is only available at Sunglass Hut stores. So, it is available, but just at that store. That's the case here in the Midwest USA
Frame: Dark Gray
Lens: Ice Iridium Polarized
Superb. Love the lenses in these. I work out on the water as a sailing instructor and these glasses are perfect. Not the tightest fit, but they don't fall off. When there's clouds rolling in, I switch to the G30 lenses in a few seconds and I can see everything in excellent detail. one issue, the hinges are already pretty loose, and I've only had them for a few months. I love these enough to commit the Oakley sin of using a cord on them (no diving overboard to rescue these).
Frame: Polished Aluminum
Lens: Titanium
Although I parted with my Polished Juliet's, I still wanted something with a polished frame. Since I've had good luck with Half Jackets, I went for these. The shiny frames look much better in the sun, where they seem almost like real metal. Inside, they look more satin-finished and painted. The Titanium Iridium lenses are nice as usual. Since I already have Ti lenses on my Black Chrome Half Jackets, I am considering getting a pair of VR28 Blue Polarized lenses for these. I think that would look pretty neat.
Frame: Midnight
Lens: 24K Iridium
Midnight frame is a very deep, metallic blue that looks great in the sun. Good color combination for University of Michigan alumni/fans without spending extra $$ on the "official" Michigan Oakley's (e.g. M-Frames with the engraved block 'M' on the lens).
Frame: Black Chrome
Lens: Titanium Iridium
Beautiful sunglasses. The Black Chrome frame has a nice bronze tint that is not shown in the picture. Snug fit, very comfortable. Titanium Iridium has a brownish tint that is great for a wide range of light conditions.
