Diary of a Co-Pilot
Day 1 - Wednesday, March 18
9:53am HST

Today's the day! I fly out to Cali for what has to be one of the biggest Oakley fan events in history. Dawn and I are at the airport now, awaiting the first of two flights. This is so exciting! We can't wait to get up there and see all our friends! And Rick.

Even though we're thoroughly exhausted (being up till 5am packing will do that to you) our anticipation and our drive couldn't be higher!

Oakley Headquarters, here we come!

what was it like when you were 10 years old on your way to Disneyland....almost peeing in your pants? Have fun you all and thanks for having a diary for us to keep updated.

2:55 Finally located Mike. Off we go!

Mike and I made the casual trek up to HQ for a visit. Good tip - take any shortcut and climb the hill a bit over walking along the windy road. Who needs switchbacks?

Also got my 'goody bag'. Some pretty awesome stuff - but no need to play the spoiler role for the other pilots. In terms of opportunity for discounted buying, think friends and family more than honorary employee for the day. Mike's goody bag has yet to be dropped off at the front desk. I'm pretty sure this means they are adding way better stuff in there for him.

i'm still waiting for that bag to!

9:58 Just took Mike to Outback for dinner. That's right, fellas, giving our visitor a bit of taste of home!

He was a little hesitant, till they brought over a bloomin onion.

9:59pm, just got home from a long day out. Hit Disneyland, yeah boys, that's right, Disneyland for my birthday for a bit. Went to my Daughter's softball game, and hit a local spot for dinner...Brainstorming more and more what to bring tomorrow...I will begin gathering the camera, video camera, paintball gear, and my clothes...So close, this is gonna be sick. Looking forward to connecting with fellow OR members and storming HQ

Day 1 - Thursday, March 19
1:44am PST

Wow, what a first day. Dawn and I made the long flight over from Maui without incident. Upon arrival, we were given our first official welcome by this awesome guy named Brandon. He picked us up in this bad-ass Oakley truck and the three of us chatted the whole way from LA to Foothill.
Once we got to the hotel, Mike and Paul were already on-hand to greet us in the lobby. Pictures were taken, Dawn and I checked in, I received an awesome Oakley welcome package (poor Dawn - her package wasn't here yet...neither was Mike's), we dropped our stuff in our room and then re-joined the guys in the lobby for a couple of beers and some friendly conversation.
This is still so unreal to us both! It seems like some awesome fantasy come to life!
Tomorrow (or I guess today), we're gonna pick up a car to do a little shopping. We hope to get a quick stop at HQ to snag some pics and then want to check out a Vault or two.
The rest of our friends start arriving throughout the day, and supposedly things get kicked off later that afternoon as well. We're quite exhausted, but can't wait to go through that bag of goodies and cruise SoCal with Paul and Mike!

Thursday is gonna be a busy day!

omg, driving to the airport at 5:30am barely awake! LOL, I should be arriving in Cali around 12:50pm. Hope to catch up with you guys at the hotel.

grrrr...American charges for one checked bag?!?! Forgot the fluid rule, so security jacked my toothpaste, hair gel, etc. I feel sorry for who I take my frustration out on in paintball! ;)

If someone could just throw a couple of Elites in a box for me Ill be happy to send a check postdated 2025 if thats cool..thanks and have fun everyone

Well, now at the airport waiting for the first flight. Handed the child off to our friends, fed the dogs and off we go. Don't feel bad Dustin, United charged me for my bag also. Checked and double checked that I have everything - but really, passport and credit card is all I need!

boarding pass... check
drink coupons... check
carry-on full of glasses... check

Anyone touches my hair gel and we are going to have an issue! I'm waiting for the black Lincoln to come pick me up!

Rick, you know that you don't need hair gel for that coiffure.

Francois, that is too much...Rock stars like Rick don't need gel, the electricity he puts off is enough to handle a hair style!!
