Frame: Rootbeer
Lens: Gold Iridium
Other than the rootbeer minutes with gold iridium lenses, these are the best glasses I've ever had. They have stood the test of time, a tour in Iraq and rough weather while sailing. I run in these everyday. I have several metal framed Oakley's but these are light enough for everything.
Frame: Rootbeer
Lens: Black Iridium
My favorite Oakleys to date. Mine were a strange configuration - I bought them on sale at the Oakley outlet, and they came with rootbeer frames, black iridium lenses and a gunmetal "O". Unless you have a tiny nose or face, the XLJ is the way to go - lenses cover much better. I lost these, and I still hope to find them in a moving box or a jacket pocket someday, because they were nice shades.
Frame: Matte Black
Lens: Black Iridium
I think most people would be better off buying the Flak Jackets over these. The coverage on the Half Jackets is not that great. Light gets around the edges and causes reflections off the inside of the lens, especially with the black iridium. The only people I could see really benefiting from this style are people with smaller heads since I think these fit more securely than the Flak Jackets do. Other than that, I would recommend the Flaks for better coverage and the hydrophobic lenses.
Frame: Midnight Blue/GoldenRod Unobtainium Accents
Lens: Clear
Used these at work (for possible blood/body fluid splatter). Excellent comfort, very easy to interchange the lenses, if necessary. 'Upgraded' to Radars with a Clear lense for work, now I use them for garage and house projects for eye safety---nails, tools and debris WILL bounce off of them, lol.
Frame: Matte Black
Lens: Black Iridium Polarized XLJ
Awesome glasses, they are very light and stay put on your face. easy to collect a bunch of different lenses for them. this is my second set, first was a golf array that has been handed over to the wife. Price point on the second set was MUCH better at less then half of what I paid for the first. Got them thru the standard issue program.

I thought these glasses were awesome, until the Flak Jackets came out and fixed every "issue" that I didn't know these had. They seem klunky and frail by comparison. If you like this style of frame, check out Flak Jackets, if only to get a water/smudge resistant lens.

I think the fact that these glasses are so collectable and do what they're designed to so well means they'll be around for years. The frames are super-lightweight and ideal for active sports, no matter what happens they'll stick to your head. The range of lenses and ease of interchanging means you can get by with just one frame even if you have a dozen pairs of lenses and do everything from fishing to mountain biking to shooting. The XLJ lenses do what they're designed to do - offer more protection from the sun - and they seem perfectly designed to me, only if I scrunch my face up do the lenses touch my cheek. Cycling is generally easier with the XLJ lenses although there is still a noticeable amount of airflow between the top of the frame and the top of your nose. The XLJ lenses do steam up a bit quicker than the standard lenses but once on the move it only takes a couple of seconds for them to clear.
The only improvements I can think to add would be perhaps some more colourways - there are far more O-Matter frame colours around than are available as Half Jackets - come on Oakley, give us Grey Smoke, Damson, Polished Rootbeer, maybe some more FMJ colours but get rid of the Carbon Fibre - it looks totally fake! As for lenses, there are a good selection but some 'fade' lenses would be nice, as would some polarised transitions lenses.
Frame: Matte Black
Lens: Gray Polarized XLJ(SI)
These were the first pair of Oakleys I finally got around to buying, and they are sick. They are still nearly in mint condition after exposure to the elements especially salt water, sand, and they have also held up to long hikes and sweat. They are definitely worth the cost. These protect your eyes very well from the sun, and especially glare. I have worn these very often and they are very comfortable, protective, and they help you see what is around you.
Frame:jet black
Lens: black iridium
what a chick sunglasses!. they are always accompany me when i ride bike. the lightweight frame makes me forget if i wear them
black iridium lenses reduce glares from road and they maintain the object appears their truer color when i wear them
Frame: Black Matte
Lens: Gray, ICE Iridium, Ruby Iridium
Wow, these are great, they fit nicely and the optical quality is amazing. I love the fact that they only have a half frame since it provides a better feeling; it is hard to describe. Just try on some half frames such as HJ's FJ's M frames or Half wires.
I also adore the ability to switch lenses at will. I have one pair and multiple lenses plus I have a G30 pair of lenses on order to play Golf with. I have about 8 pairs of Oakleys and these are by far my favorites. I just wish the HJ lenses came with the Hydrophobic coating on them like the Flak Jackets.
If I didn't already had a pair of Half Jackets I would give the Flak Jackets a try; but nah, I love my HJ's too much to replace them.
Frame: Jet Black
Lens: Titanium Iridium Polarized
These glasses are the best I have ever worn without question. I also have a pair of gold iridium Minutes, but these absolutely blow them out of the water.
I have a fairly small face (I'm a small 16 year old), but the XLJ is much better than the regular lenses by far. The only thing is my friend who has high cheek bones said they touched his face when he tried them on.
You should definitely try them out, but the XLJ frames are probably going to be better. I am a very active person, and the XLJ's are definitely better in the performance aspect. From the beach to the tennis court to skiing, they offer much more protection, in fact, I can hardly see out the bottom even when I try.
Great glasses. If your looking for performance sunglasses that also look Badass as hell, look no further than the XLJ Half Jackets.

These Babes made me hooked on Oakley. They fit my head/face very well (a strong 4) and offer a whole lot of nice combinations.
As a serious road bike rider I train a lot under different weather and light conditions. It inspires me to pick and choose among my many HJs (and also Radars with its bigger view, in spite of its more expensive prices). However, after a while it seems that all of my fine Oakley lenses work really good and adjust to the situation. Could be my good judgement but more likely the superb quality.

Oh, the famous Half Jacket. Easily one of my favorite pairs. They sit on my face perfectly, standard or XLJ. All the colors they have available is just outrages and boy are they good for playing sports. They have an amazing grip on my face. I have never personally experienced any problems w/ the lens falling out. They seem to fit well in the frame and the only thing I don’t like about the glasses are the FMJ coatings because of the tendency they have of chipping, but that’s a different story, fives skulls.
Frame: Jet Black
Lens: Blue
I got these cheap on ebay, but I'm selling them off. They look cool, esp the XLJ (extra-large jacket?) lenses. Both classy and sporty at the same time, good for small-medium faces. However, the frame quality is pretty iffy. The one I got looked as if the previous owner tried to change the lenses and the material was sort of peeling from around the nose area, but only noticeable if you scrutinize hard. Also heard some horror stories of the frame peeling too easily under hot conditions. I have another pair of jet black polarized black iridium HJs coming in, and I'll keep that pair and hopefully that will hold up....
Bottom line, the shape is excellent, but the build quality leaves a little to be desired.
Frame: Dark Grey
Lens: Slate
These have replaced my M-Frames as my sunglasses of choice. I used to roll with the M-Frames for sport (cycling and running), and my Juliets for less flamboyant settings. The Half Jackets were a great compromise; they look nice enough to wear in public as my normal shades, but they perform beautifully on the bike and on the run. I'm tempted to switch to Flak Jackets or the Radar, but these suckers still have a lot of style left in 'em.
UPDATE: I have a small collection of these now. My slate lenses got so much abuse through the thousands of miles worth of training and racing I did with them that they needed to be retired. Now I'm using a few pairs -- Silver/Grey, Brown/Ruby, and Black/Vr28 Blue Polar. They're all excellent, and I expect I'll probably add some more pairs at some point. Half Jackets are simply superb.
Frame: Polished Black
Lens: Polarized Array (Titanium Polarized, Ice Polarized, VR28 Blk Irid Polarized)
This is a nice frame and is very easy to change the lens in and out. This frame unfortunately does not fit my face tends to move on my face during sports, but I would still recommend it to others. Get the extra lens, they are nice for changing light conditions.
Frame: Jet Black
Lens: Black Iridium Polarized
Awesome. I got this pair for christmas 6 months ago and always wear them. Even though I'm 13 the frames are a little big but the ear socks are so thick and durable plus they have almost no wear. Since I have higher check bones the XLJ's are perfect but I would not recomend them to anyone who has a very large face.
Frame:Pearl
Lens:Black Iridium Polarized
Good sunglasses, They stay on great during any activity and any sport. It is great how they can interchange and customize, I just dont like how the half jacket looks, it bows to much on the arms.
Frame: Pearl
Lens: 24k XLJ
Did these custom, the o-store had the 24k XLJ lens in stock still. I got the pearl frame, switched the black earsocks with white ones, and i gotta say its a very nice combo, i didnt like half jackets for the longest time, but these have grown on me. They fit pretty well, and the XLJ covers perfectly.
Frame: Pearl
Lens: Polarized Ice
Constructed from o-matter, the Half Jacket XLJs are very lightweight and durable, and the enhanced coverage of the XLJ lens (vs the standard Half Jacket lens) adds to their appeal. This is also an excellent color combo, as the "pearl" o-matter compliments the "ice" colored lenses. Polarization reduces blinding glare and makes this pair even more desirable.
Frame: Silver
Lens: VR28 Blue iridium POLARIZED
This is a very functional pair of sunglasses. They have the ability to switch out lenses to adapt to any light conditions. I have several different lenses that I carry with me and can swap out lenses to meet the current lighting conditions. Highly recommend this model!!
Frame: Jet Black
Lens: Black/Ice Iridium
One of my favorites sunglasses , it's perfect for outdoor games like volleyball. The shape of xlj lenses are great, fits a large face for sure. I had some problems to remove and to install the lenses but after the first time the thing become more easier.
Frame: Jet Black
Lens: Gold Iridium, Clear
Nosebombs: Normal size
First off, the lens quality is very good - they are crystal clear. The hinge action of the frame is very smooth, though a bit loose, it feels well made. The nosebridge fits pretty well, though there's something about it that doesn't fit quite right. It's a good pair of glasses, the only problem is that the lens coverage isn't very good, so a lot of light reaches my eyes around the sides and bottoms of the lenses. Also, it definitely isn't easy changing the lenses, though I've only done it once. I actually just did it, and I cut two of my fingers (very minor cuts) in the process. However, I was not at all gentle with the lenses or frame while removing the lenses, which proves that these things are very well built. I ordered a set of clear lenses about a week ago, so when they get here and I try them out, I'll add something about them here.
Added 1/31/07: So I the lenses came yesterday, and let me just say that it was nearly impossible to get them in. It took me about 80 minutes to get them in. Again, though, it's surprising how durable these things are made, since it seems that they should have broken several times since I was trying so hard to get the lenses in. One of them didn't fit quite right, so I took it out today, and I was able to put it back in in about 2 minutes, so it definitely gets easier after the first time. As for the lenses (clear), they're awesome as expected.
Frame: carbon fiber
Lens: vr28 black
this is ur practical pair of Oakleys u can wear on just about anything. U can use it for outdoor sports or just for going out on casual occassions. Not to mention they are very durable
Frame: gunmetal
Lens: g30
I got 4 pairs of these all in different color frames and lenses. Ideal pair to wear both for daily wear and sports application such as basketball and tennis. just carry them extra lenses incase it gets dark then u need them higher light transmission lenses
Frame: Polished Aluminum
Lens: Titanium Iridum, Fire Iridium
In my opinion, the XLJ lenses look more "masculine" than the normal lenses. I debated for a long time between getting the carbon fiber or polished aluminum finish (a $70 Canadian difference between the two) and opted for the latter because they look better on my face and stand out more. From the box, the lenses were just sitting on my cheeks so I bought a replacement kit for $20 and put in the larger nosebombs. That made a huge difference as there is clearance between my cheeks and the lenses. The HJ is very secure - making it ideal pair for running or any other non-contact physical activity. Switching lenses is a pain the first time (both literally and figuratively). I suggest you go to a local dealer like Sunglass Hut and get the representatives to demonstrate for you first before you attempt it by yourself - believe me, it will save you a lot of time and frustration. I've noticed that for the polished aluminum frame in the Oakley website, there is no Oakley written on the nose bridge. However, the pair I have does say Oakley. In any case, I recommend getting the frames with the metal finish (ie: gunmetal, silver, FMJ) if you don't mind spending a little more because most people seem to have the black or rootbeer frames. Although the polished aluminum frame is designated Sunglass Hut Exclusive, I got mine at a local dealer and have seen a couple at other specialty stores. For its versatility and variety in lens options, I give the HJ a 5.
Be careful when inserting and removing lenses on any of the "premium" frames like Polished Aluminum as the finish tends to scratch and strip off around the edges of the grooves if you're not careful.
Frame: Jet Black
Lens: Black Iridium Polarized, Ice Iridium Polarized, Fire Iridium Polarized, G30, Clear, H.I. Yellow/Blue
The first word I'd use to describe these would be "tight." And I mean that they're intended for narrow heads. 10-15 minutes was about all I could endure wearing these. But I just had to have them for the easily interchangeable lenses. The convenience of being able to swap lenses for different conditions was just too much for me to ignore. I could use Clear or H.I. Yellow for indoor shooting ranges. G30 for cycling in moderately bright conditions. Or put in the darker lenses for everything else.
These actually ended up sitting unused in my shooting bag for a year. Then I decided to try and adjust them with a little heat. After many, many sessions with a hair dryer and a lot of sweat, I got them flexed out enough that I could wear them for a couple hours at a time before feeling the pinch. That's when the lens collection started. They originally came with Black Iridium Polarized, which I found to be a bit bland. I'm still trying to track down VR28 Polarized.
I much prefer the added coverage of the XLJ shape over the standard. For one, they complement my face shape better. Secondly, any added eye coverage is welcome when I have hot, spent brass casings flying back at me.
Frame: jet black, jet black

how can you not love oakleys that you cna customize yourself
and it is easy too once you get the hang of it.
Frame: Jet Black
Lens: Amber Black Iridium Polarized
Great fleixble frame with comfy and secure fit! The Jet black is nice, but a bit boring. Too bad Oakley always introduces the funny lenses in black frames. The Half Jacket is not for people with huge heads, but the XLJ is a big improvement in that regard. I look absolutely pants woth the regular Half Jacket, but acceptable with the XLJ. This is my fishing pair.
Frame: silver
Lens: VR28 blue polarized
I picked up a pair of these discounted heavily at my nearest Vault store. The frames are light and comfortable and grip your head without squeezing too hard. My only gripe is being able to see alot outside of the lens with my peripheral vision which can distract me sometimes...but this option is way more practical than buying a polarized lens for my M frames at 150 smackers.
Frame: Carbon Fiber
Lens: G30
I finally got myself a pair of Half Jackets a little while back thanks to the King. It was well worth the wait. I love the feel and look of the HJs and especially this combo. Very light weight and secure. These aren't going anyway whether you're running or riding, the odds of these flying off of your face is very unlikely. The Carbon Fiber finish is one of my favorites. The only thing about the finish is that it gets a little inconsistent around some of the curves and bends of the frame. Which is probably due to how the finish is applied to the frame. The G30 lense tint is a good general lense, usable for most conditions. The XLJ shape is a great way to add a little more protection and coverage. Plus it's another nice option if you want to change the look of your Half Jackets.
Frame: Carbon Fiber
Lens: Fire
Excellent coverage and very confortable to wear. So much unobtanium on the arms, you'll never loose these off your face.
The half frame provides great vernting if you're on the trail with these.
Carbon Fiber is by far my favorite frame color, I also like the look of Dark Grey.
Frame: Gunmetal
Lens: G30
XL lens in my opinion just look better and the style is great for a sport glasses
i only wish that the lens swap was a little smoother
Frame: Polished black, SI matte black
Lens: VR28 blue polarised, Titanium, black, persimmon.
Oakley took lens changing to the limit here, a few seconds and lenses are changed, very robust and functional.
Always keep the filled vault in the car,
Whatever light conditions HJ has the lenses, with XLJ a different look too.
Frame: carbon fiber
Lens: G30
good overall fit and due to the lenscolour a great view. it is a very leightweight frame , the lenses are interchageable , so it is a multi-functional piece of eyewear.
good for MTB
Frame: Black
Lens: HI Blue
A very sleek but aggressive look. These make a great sport sunglass, and maybe will be taking the place of the M-Frame. Highly recommended if you are looking for a good lightweight durtable sunglass.
Frame: Camo
Lens: Bronze Polarized
Was down in Florida, and saw that there was a Bass Pro shop in the area, so I decided to hop a bus and pop down to see if I could find the Camo colorway. Upon entering, there they were. I picked up the XLJ, since I like those better, and I'm a happy camper. The color is a bit low res, but still looks nice. The bronze isn't flashy, but it's my first polarized pair, so that will be interesting to try out.
Frame: Silver
Lens: VR28 Blue Polarized
Good color combonation, although in my opinion a Jet Black frame looks better with VR28 Blue Polarized lenses. The VR28 Blue Polarized lenses are by far my favorit made for the Half Jacket
Frame: Copper FMJ
Lens: Titanium Polarized (XLJ) (Customized)
Most disappointing over-hyped Oakley's ever (Sport Models).
Nose bridge is too small, earstems don't fit nicely.Changing lenses is a pain.
Except for polarization a pair of ryders sunglasses I bought for $50 are better than these and have the darkest mirrored bronze lenses I have seen. I wear the ryders to run in, my wife has these half jackets....
Fortunately Oakley has come out with better stuff since!
K
Frame: Black chrome
Lens: Titanium
When I sold Oakley, I always made a point of having customers try on the XLJ pointing out how it contours the cheek better & they often took it just for the extra protection. I also like the versatility of being able to change between styles
Frame: Jet Black, SI Matte Black, Gunmetal, FMJ
Lens: Gold Polarized, Fire Polarized, Ice Polarized, Grey Polarized, Titanium Polarized, Black Polarized, VR 28Blue Polarized, G30, Slate.
I like the XLJ model because it fits my face better. The frames are nice, especially the gunmetal. If you don't get the gunmetal frames specially ordered to fit Polarized lenses (build to order) getting Polarized lenses in them can be a bit tricky but not impossible. I like the half jacket's ease of changing lenses so you can customize your lenses based on need or how you want to look and change them back as you see fit. Personally, I tend to like the Titanium and Gold Polarized lenses best. They tend to Bring out the colors but are easy on the eyes.
Frame: Any

I like these a little more than the regular Half Jackets only because of their larger lens. Only problem is, the frame is still the same size and little too small.
Frame: Jet Black
Lens: Black Iridium non-polarized
First pair of sunglasses. Excellent sunglasses. Don't move around when doing activities like running. I live in TX, got them at Sunglasses Hut day before Oakley raised their prices. Was hesitant about the $100 price tag, but they are worth it. Would recommend them to most anyone.
Frame: Carbon Fiber
Lens: Black Iridium Lens, non polarized, in prescription
Love these sunglasses, best pair i've ever owned. I needed them in prescription for my bad eyes. Decided I needed to go with the best possible ballistic protection glasses cause do tons of outdoor sports and I do lots of competitive shooting and hate wearing my crappy prescription eyeglasses. Didnt want the mframes cause they are a little too sporty for me.
Fit is great, the xlj lenses are slighlty larger than the standard lenses, better for bigger faces. The titanium lenses are not available in prescription at the oakley lab at the time. So the black iridiums were the next best
Prescription is cut at the oakley lab, and i have to say these are THE best prescription anything you'll wear for your eyes. Your peripheral vision is so clear cause of the wraparound design. First couple hours wearing it gave me a headache cause you arent used to it. Lenses are shaped and noticeably thicker than the standard no prescription lenses. I would get an extra clear set of xlj prescription lenses for myself cause the quality and clarity in these lenses are unmatched, but cant afford em. speaking of price, they aint cheap, around $350 total for my pair, can be more or less with lens/frame options, and i think it took 6 weeks to get it (dont remember). Not too many dealers online do oakley Rx for the halfjackets so do your research
Frame: Carbon Fiber
Lens: Ti
Bought these to interchange with my other Half-Jakets, i figured why just sit and wait to save up for the lenses so I go the whole frame and lens instead. I like the titanium lens for some reason, i find black iridium too plain, and the bronze nature of the ti lens is nice to wear outside. Worn out my Carbon fiber frame though. XLJ's look great and feel great, i reccommend you try both style of lens out before buying.
Frame: Carbon Fiber, SI Matte Black
Lens: HI Blue, Titanium, Ice, G30, Grey, Gold
Love, Love these glasses. Used to wear M Frames all the time cause I liked the idea of changing lenses for different conditions (actually got several friends and family hooked too), but after a while, M Frames looked a little to old-school so I have changed to Half Jackets (mostly XLJ for my large head, but I have found that I can get away with regular when I want to look a little more polished). These are great glasses, sorry it took Oakley so long to come up with this dual interchangable lens system. For the money, 5 out of 5!
Frame: Jet Black
Lens: Clear, H.I Yellow, Black Iridium, Persimmon, VR28 Blue Polarized.
These are genius.
I cant beleive it took oakley so long to make an interchangeable pair of sunglasses.
These are perfect for Golf and Skiing.
When your playing golf or up the mountain skiing the last thing you want to do is carry around more than one pair of oakleys.
with the XLJ and the array case you can keep your glasses and 2 spair pairs of lenses, so as soon as the light changes you can change your glasses.
GENIUS
Frame: Black Chrome
Lens: Titanium Iridium
I love these glasses. The black chrome frame is really lovely and couple this with the Titanium Iridium lens, which has brilliant light transmission and gives a nice golden hue, and you have an excellent glass. I found the XLJ lens to be better for me due to the bridge of my nose, something to think about when looking at Half Jackets.
Frame: Gunmetal
Lens: G30
Great looking and great fitting like all Half Jackets. Gunmetal frame is good if you do not want a shiny, glossy appearance. However, I have noticed that changing lenses in the FMJ frames is a bit more difficult than in the non-FMJ. If you have a smaller face or high cheekbones, be sure to try the XLJ before you buy. I ended up buying the smaller G30 lenses because the XLJ hit my cheeks.
