Frame: Midnight
Lens: Fire Iridium

Outside of their X-Metal line, you'd be hard pressed to find any frame that defines Oakley more than the Scars. The orbitals are artfully shaped while providing good coverage. The earstems have an aggressive batwing look and despite looking like they could slice your ears off, they're quite comfortable. The metal lugs aren't really functional but add a touch of brightwork that really stand out on the darker frames.

And despite the lenses being on the smaller side, they fit my big head quite well, since the earstem lugs are molded so that they're almost like Hammer stems. Their shape makes them look good on me but I've seen other wear these so they're almost a one-size-fits-all frame. The only nitpick is that they close with the Icon sticking out a little bit so if you like to hang your Oakleys on your shirt when you're indoors, they hang a little awkwardly. A very minor point.

It's too bad they're out of production.

Frame: FMJ+
Lens: G30

Yet another Oakley that I wasn't sure I liked at first, but grew on me after the 3rd or 4th try. Since they are discontinued, I figured I should get a pair before they all disappear. The styling of these glasses is superb. I like the scalloped bat-wing look. The tall earstems are very unique and provide a fairly confortable grip even though they do not have Unobtainium. The X-Metal earstem lugs with integrated icons are cool.

The hinges are in a strange location behind the icon, which makes them look neat even when folded. However, the frames are quite wide and deep when folded, so as Dann said, you need an X-Metal case or Medium Soft Vault for these.

I would have given these a 5, but I figured with the size of the frame (fairly tall lenses), the nosebombs could have been bigger than just little slivers of Unobtainium. Better than nothing, though.

FMJ+ is a pretty ho-hum satin silver, but I really got this pair for the G30 lenses. The pinkinsh tint is not too dark and great for varying light. Like LEX said, Scars were available in some of the nicest color combinations Oakley ever tried.

Frame: FMJ red
Lens: Black iridium

the desgine of these glasses is great. they have diffrent line that makup the arms and the orbital but they are not so diffrent that they look strange.

the shape of the orbitals is diffrent then most and i takes a little to get use to. the lower out sxide corner of the orbitals angle up more then usuall and so light nad movement can be seen under this when you are wearing them. it is not enought to cause problems as per say but you do find your self distracted for the first little while untill you are use to it.

the frame color is cool (FMJ red) but it seams to be a little more sensitive to scraching and once it is scrached there is a silver tint to the area.

the arms are good with the diffrent shape and look. but i have found that having a big head and because the glasses are older and don't have the new flexabilty like the new tecnology the arms tend to press tightly to the side of my head and after i while i have to take them off.

all in all i still love the glasses and if and enjoy whering them.

Frame: Black
Lens: Black Iridium

First pair, so review may be a bit skewed coming from non-Oakleys.
I like them :) There are a few impracticalities, but there is a lot to like. I don't like the thick bottom edge. I didn't mind at first, but when driving, it blocks your over-the-shoulder blind-spot check in a big way. I think they sit a little high for me as well, but I'm not sure on that yet. The nosebombs feel a bit like they're ready to fall off.

What to like? Lots. The fit is tight, the metal hinge section is nice & gives me confidence it will not fall apart. I love the style with the shape of the orbital and the swoop of the earstems. They sit forward enough so that they're secure on my nose, but my lashes don't touch.

I'm still not sure about the lens. They seem middle of the line for light, providing decent protection in full sun, and are a bit hindering indoors. Could be me though.

An awesome set to start off a collection (yes I wear them).

Frame: Butterscotch
Lens: 24K Gold Iridium

These are awesome glasses. They fit well, have rubber nosebombs, so they don't slide around, and they're unique enough to attract a lot of attention. The lenses are a little oddly shaped, like a cross between a Minute and a Topcoat. They're worth having if you can find them, if only to display.

Frame: grey
Lens: 24k gold

I love these glasses. I use them at work as I need a good pair of glasses to protect my eyes. I took the 24k gold lenses off of the butterscotch frames and put them in they gray frames. I love the way they set each other off. I have the g30 lenses in the butterscotch frames, I use them on cloudy days as it makes everything stand out better.

Frame:Black Chrome
Lens:Black Iridium
After purchasing and wearing the Persimmon frame I found them to be very comfortable but the eye coverage is a little lacking. The persimmon frame tends to focus the light around the lens and your eyes have a tendency to try to focus on this. It almost seems that the frames are glowing in bright light. The black chrome frame did not have this problem of course but the chrome coating began to bubble and flake after repeated trips mountain biking. I don't know if this was from sweat, heat or what but it began on the stems and progressively moved to the rest of the frame. My brother had the same problem with the black chrome. Overall the scar has the typical Oakley wow factor and the design makes it into the top ten style wise for its aggressive hues.

Frame: Butterscotch
Lens: 24K

These glasses are just awesome, they make you just stand out of the crowd with it's extremely agressive design. The butterscotch is in real live way better than on the pictures of Oakley. It is more a kind of deep bright orange.
As said before the eye coverage is very good, but you will actually see a litlle bit of the frame.
They have about the same fit as the Half and Flak Jacket.

Frame: Butterscotch
Lens: 24K Gold

I look so wicked in these things. I wear these on my angry days - the days I shout profanity at people who annoy me, drive fast, and throw the finger. They are awesome. The 24K is loud and doesn't make everything yellow like Gold Iridium does. Think of these as the yellow Viper of the sunglasses world - "Look at me, I'm an attention whore!" But I had to take a star away because they hurt the top of my ears if I wear them for a few hours.

Frame:Platinum
Lens:VR28 Black Iridium
These are one of my first O-matter's. They are very cool looking and very Oakley. I love the metal lugs, tight hinges, and bat wing arms. VR28 is one of my favorite lenses so far and the coverage is good, but the gap in the lower peripheral is a bit distracting. The reason for 3 stars is the fit. They sit too high on my nose, not so high that I can't wear them, but high enough to make them look a little goofy. If the bridge was a little wider they would be great for me. The arms also fit a bit tight for long term comfort. I prefer my valve's overall for looks and fit.

Frame: Butterscotch
Lens: 24k Gold Iridium

We saw these on an attendee at a birthday party we were at, and had to ask what they were. The aggressive style is what drew us in. After we got them we love the wrap, it's nice and snug so there is little to no sun creeping in from any angle. It's also a very diverse pair that looks great with a suit or in board shorts.

Frame: Electric blue
Lens: Ice Iridium

This is such a beautiful color combination. Oakley wasnt kidding when they named it Electric Blue. Its very bold and bright. The ice is a nice touch, and the chrome icons blend perfectly with the blue frame. They are a little wide for my face but with such a sleek wrap and design it doesnt bother me. A must have for any collector, and a great piece in Oakley History.
TERRORISM -
Frame: Persimmon
Lens: Black

After recently acquiring this color combo, I feel compelled to write a quick review. As aformentioned, the Scar frame is a bit bulky but still comfortable, thanks in part to the unobtainium nosepieces. This frame color, however, is amazing in its own right: it almost appears to be "lit" from the inside while wearing it - probably due to the contrast of the persimmon frame against the black iridium lenses. Another point to consider is that after recently trying these on, lens coverage seems to be a bit limited at the periphery. Four skulls overall.

Orlampa -
Frame: Black Chrome
Lens: Black Iridium

I have a love/hate relationship with these glasses. The look is awesome. But they let in a lot of light because of the frame structure. My only complaint is that the metal piece inside the hinge has as tendency to work its way out. You have to just push it back in from time to time. No biggie. All-in-all a nice shade...just wish it would have a little more eye coverage!

TERRORISM -
Frame: Butterscotch
Lens: 24K Iridium

The Scar was Oakley's first eyewear comprised of both O-matter and X-Metal, offering a number of unique features. Utilizing CAD engineering, the glasses featured innovative earstems which almost appeared to be "fin-like", and were very comfortable. The lens shape was also exclusive, yet still offered adequate coverage. The Butterscotch/24K color combo was perhaps the most popular of the line, and remains one of my personal favorites today. A bit bulky, these shades would probably be best suited for those with medium to larger craniums. Apparently they didn't sell well at retail, however, resulting in a short-lived product lifecycle.

Frame: Butterscotch
Lens: 24K Gold Iridium

I really like the butterscotch color and I am in love with the 24K lens, but I was not a very big fan of this color scheme. The Scars are really nicely designed. They have out there earstems but fairly conservative orbitals. They are also lightweight and offer great coverage. I think its the silver on the frames that kill it for me. I just didn't think these were as appealing as some of the other color schemes.

Frame: FMJ Red
Lens: Black Iridium

Very cool design. Really sturdy especially the metal piece on here. I'm not a big fan of the FMJ red but its still a unique and bold color. The fit of these are good on a big head like mine, but I would prefer larger orbitals.

Frame: Platinum
Lens: VR28 Black Iridium

I love the agressive look, style says Oakley all over it. The eye coverage is awesome and it's very comfortable, it's not compressing the side of my head. Thanks to Jumpman73 for picking it up for me!

Frame: FMJ+
Lens: G30
The price has really dropped on the Scars lately online. I was surprised how cheap I was able to pick this pair up for. I have always like the agressive styling of the Scar, but just didn't feel they were very practical. Now that I own them, I am very glad I got past the practicality issue. They are extreme and strike a deep cord in me. The G30 lens has always been underrated in my opinion. Overall, this combo is subtle in it's color, but extreme in its style.

Very nice design. Feels very sturdy and strong for not being an x-metal. Eye coverage is excellent and the metal near the hinges is a very nice add to the design. I wish the lenses could be bigger though.

I... LOVE... this... GLASS! I usually display it more than wear it, but when I do wear it out, I always get looks. The hinge is incredible and just plain spiffy! Although I must say, I gave it a four because too much sun gets in my eyes, I whine a lot I know, but it does hurt on a bright day!

Spectacular frame colour and i love the shape of these. only reason i got them is for the collection cos sadly i cant wear these.
the stock pic really doesnt do this colour justice, once the light hits it, wow

Sweet style. These are some great true design oakley's. A definate must have for the collection, now I just have to get another pair!
TekDragon -
Frame: Electric Blue
Lens: Ice Iridium

I have been wanting a pair of these for a while and finally found a pair. They are very comfortable, but where the frame angles up from the bottom of the lens towards the earstem allows for a little to much light than I usually like. This isn't a design flaw in the glasses, but a just a minor inconvienence. Overall I still really like these.
SOLID GOLD -
Frame: Electric Blue

The electric blue frame is Mesmerising and beyond cool!
One of the more eye-catching of Oakley models.
Had the platinum/VR28 one but sold it off in favour of this slick combination.
The only Oakley frame that I took time to admire at different light angles.
It's a seductive pair. My only beef is that it's not exactly catered to larger faces.

One of my first pair of O-matter frames. I love the look and design. I was really intrigued by the X-metal lugs and that feature was one of the selling points for me. The Persimmon frame color is sweet!! One of my favorites.

Frame: Butterscotch
Lens: 24k Iridium

I wanted a pair once, but never bought one because they didn't fit me very well, sitting too high on my face. They look very cool, though now I would say that I prefer the look of the Valve, perhaps beause they're slightly more angular.

It is such shame that these glasses are on the way out. They were kinda revolutionary in styling, as they were the first of their kind. I love the big, blade-looking earstems and the X-Metal lugs were a very cool addition. The Valves should have at least carried these over. I also loved the mechanical cam inside the earstem. It kept the stem tight, whether it was open or folded. I wish I never would have sold these! I guess we'll always have Plate and Valve, but it just won't be the same.

I got these when they first came out. The styling and fit of the eyewear is great! The color is what sort of killed me. I ended up not being a big fan of the butterscotch and persimmon colors. But when they busted out the FMJ colors later on, I thought those were much improved. A great pair of shades.

When this first came out, it's like I gotta have it. I color combp I got is the best color combo for this model. Unfortunately, they are discountinuing the model. Well, at least the Valve, Plate, evolved from this radical design

Im really annoyed, cos these glasses look amazing but they are way too small for my big head/face and they look really dumb when I wear them.
they come in some amazing colour combos, its just a big shame they havent made an XL version like other oakley models.
So if you have a big head face and are lookin for these on ebay I suggest you try before you buy.

Frame: Chrome & FMJ+
Lens: Black & G30
I don't own these, but I borrow them from time to time. They have since been replaced by the Valve line, which is a shame, as these glasses are very nice. They cost a little more, but have solid stainless steel hinges and a tight grip. The angles are also much more accented for a sleeker look. They won't fit in a standard case however, and require ones that will fit the X-Metals (excluding Penny's).

Update: Finally got the FMJ+/G30 one for myself. Definitely a nice collection piece. Now to get the Red and Blue ones.
Ofan -
Frame: Electric Blue

I love the color! I think that it's the best color of all the Scars. Eye coverage is awesome, comfortable and so light weight. As I mentioned on my review of the platinums, I like the aggressive look, even more with this color combo.
