You still don't get it, do you? A factual observation was made about a lack of support for a product and lack of customer service. No one was involved, until you chose to involve me personally.

You aren't the "Great Collector" you portray yourself as. You may spend a lot of money, but you are far from true to this game.
I don't portray myself as anything. Facts were stated - nothing more. "True to this game"??? There are no games here, except the games that certain individuals play in the threads - for no reason.

You help nobody but yourself Nike, you have no intent but to better your position, and you don't care how far you go with people to get it.
You seem to know everything... except the truth. I won't delve too far into this, but I've helped plenty of people here and have even asked them not to tell anyone. But that's another story. I know one thing I don't do, and that is needlessly attack other individuals in the threads or bring up issues with other members unless it is within a PM.

I didn't whine first off. I merely made my argument about the fact that Elite product shouldn't be made overseas under any circumstance. No foul there.
Did you actually "read" what you posted in the threads? If I would have posted that, you would have made a personal attack in the threads, and we both know it. Constructive feedback is almost always welcome, but your choice of words clearly displayed poor judgment and lack of self-control.

As far as the dispute with Eric was concerned, I am happy to hear that it has been resolved. The point, however, was that the issue should NEVER have been made public. It was nothing short of disgraceful to read that kind of crap in the threads, as this is precisely what makes the o-review a bitter place.

Whining would happen to be what you are doing. Oh poor me, Oakley won't bend the rules because I spend this much, or I have that much. That is crap. Blah Blah Blah...That is whining. Big difference.
Huge difference indeed. How is it that even after my first post regarding the lack of support/customer service you posted a negative remark? And this isn't the first time, Josh. You have a personal problem with me, but it's one that you consistently feel necessary to post in the threads. Grow up and send a PM if you've got a problem.

I just feel it's important that all of us - no matter who we are - are able to express our opinions/experiences in a constructive way. I was honestly disappointed in the fact that Oakley did not support their Elite product better - whether it was me, you, or anyone else calling for a replacement band. Did I feel that perhaps they could have made an exception? Yes, I did. Was that wrong? Depends on who you ask. I didn't think so.

That's it.

its a very big shame threads have to go like tis when after all we are all members/collectors with a common interest.
we are not all going to agree with everything that everyone says but it should be respected as each owns opinion-there is no need to make it personal, especially for all to read...very sad for me to read on a sunday morning, but what i will say is like alot of members on the review, nike has helped me alot...I AM NOT TAKING SIDES, just saying like alot of members on here, he does look out for others other than himself, lets just get this thread back to being nice again as none of like sour grapes....

in the bigger scheme of things on what is going on in the world, why do we have to make hate......

im saying no more.

I agree, You guys have both implimented your opinions here and we all have one common ground, we enjoy Oakley, either as a collector, a wearer or just a fan.
As for what Oakley can do, there customer service is tied up in policy and procedure, the person on the phone is not the maker just the follower of it, so his hands are tied. O customer service is by all means pretty good, try calling bank of AMERICA, and i stress that because you get paul smith in bangladesh who just picked his name out after his two week how to talk like a texan course. Sometimes it may seem absurd but I am sure there is a reason, right up there with why they dont sell just icons, we know they have them, they just wont sell them separate. As for Purchasing power or amount, yes I am sure it is appreciated and noticed that whoever spends this much or that is recognized, but again within the scope of the policy that the lowest denominator is allowed to represent, the guy on the end of the phone is in no way pulling full profit nor running the company to change those decisions.
I see points in both parts of the discussion, and in no way do I choose sides, I am faithfully Oakley, even with the changes and policies that they have made. That is the common ground we all fall on. A great addition to this thread would be:
"The policy that Oakley has for the band replacement is a bit offputting but understandable due to the fact that this is a piece they are proud of. If a mistake is made in trimming the band, they are more than willing to pay shipping both ways and replace it for free. Though the time it will take away from wearing it while it is gone is not appealing, the fact that they will stand behind me as a faithful consumer to keep my product top notch is worth the wait."
I may never be able to get one of these amazing watches, Hell I am having a hard time obtaining a Pitboss, I am sure that if I did, just the fact they were willing to help in anyway if I made the mistake a messing up my band is awsome. Try that with a car company and see how fast they void a warranty when you do something yourself. Everywhere there is room for improvement, but as O-reviewers and Co-Pilots, we should be more possitivly charged in coming up with solutions or highlighting the good than just mentioning the shortcomings.
All in all the TBII is a wicked cool watch and I hope that I can get one some day.

You know a thread is getting good when you see excessive use of blockquotes! Personally, I'd just proform an extra band and call it done.

As for the whole band aspect of this thread, I seriously doubt Oakley has any reservations about supplying an owner with a replacement if it is duly needed. However, if it is for the "Just Because" aspect of it, or "Just In Case", why would they be inclined to do anything? That would be like just giving out an extra set of lenses just in case. Also, if anyone out here knows anything at all about Oakley and new products, replacement parts aren't usually readily available for 4-6 months. Tank replacement bracelets for warranty purposes weren't even in the building for at least that long after it's release, so that may also be a part of it.

Trevor is right on with the whole BofA thing or almost any of major US Corporations. Call Dell, same thing. So Oakley is far from having shotty service. They are pretty damn good I think. As for policy, they have it, and usually follow it pretty close. I have seen it numerous times while visiting them: If someone brings in shades or anything for warranty repair/replacement, they only receive the new item, not the new parts/item and the old defective stuff. They just don't go giving things away.

As for the rest of it, there is more than meets the eye, just like a Transformer. I greatly understand the concept of emotional attachment and the thought that a person does "X" should be treated like "Y", but to them it's about the bottom line which is "Z" and everyone contributes the same. There are more people in the world that buy 1 or 2 pair than there are nut jobs like us that have 10, 20, 100, 200 etc. We are the exception, not the rule. Respect and not expect.

I respect both opinions stated here but I regret that this problem has suddenly become a little bit to "personal". Take it easy guys!
Personaly, I understand very well that "business is business" and that Oakley doesn't have to make any exception just because you are an important customer but on another way I want to remember that if you want to order (and pay) a new watch band for your Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Omega or another brand, you'll receive it.

You bring up an interesting fact. This is true, I agree with your logic. Keep this in mind though..Oakley stands apart because they dont fall to the same norms that we have seen with other companies. Part of what makes them Oakley. Individuality on the verge of arrogance but not enough to cross the line of disrespect. That is part of the reason why we do what we do and spend what we spend on Oakley and not the other brands. wouldnt you agree?

I think this got a bit out of hand. Throw out the whole battle and at the root of it was Terrorism telling a story about how he was treated poorly by the staff at Oakley. Who cares about procedure, protocol, or anything else, not calling him back was just poor business etiquette. And yes, as Josh has stated this is a business, so it should be run like one. A customer had a concern and took the time out of his day to contact Oakley, which in turn promised a return call. They failed to do this, which caused him to be upset. We are all fans of Oakley, so it hurts that much more when something like this happens. He came to an Oakley forum and shared his story, and that's that. We all have great stories about Oakley and we even have a few bad ones, but in the end this is a forum based around talking about Oakley, which is exactly what he did. I like both parties in this situation, and have nothing but good things to say about both of them, so it sucks to see this fighting. Let's just take it easy.

Hopefully bringing this back to the main topic, I was able to try on a TBII and it was surprisingly much lighter than I imagined. I think my Blade is actually heavier. Oakley did a great job with it. I hope they come out with some more colorways too as they had originally planned.

I am gonna step in here and close this down, It is now widely known on which side of the issue both of you are on and its just banter at this point.

It is not in OR spirit to bash one another back and forth so this argument is now done.

So I was told a story today that involved serial # 1. An employee at the West Edmonton O Store told me the store mistakenly got #1 many months back when the TBII was first released. There was a frantic search for it and the WEM store had to send it back because it should've went to a bigwig (perhaps JJ, perhaps Baden, perhaps Oakley corporate itself....the employee didn't know). Had I known they got #1, I would've dropped everything to come see it. Second hand story, so take that as you will.

Heard pretty well the same thing. Was in a couple of weeks ago and they said they had serial # 1 in the back. He did not say they were/did send it back though so not sure if that happened.

"Hi, here is Jim Jannard. It appears that you accidentally bought my watch. I'd be very happy to get it back. Thanks a lot !"

Could be a funny situation.

I’m edging towards believing the story.
But there’s the dichotomy, do you return it or keep it?
I’d go the latter helping JJ or whoever, but still a dichotomy none the less

It would be nice to keep it and have a Face To Face exchange with JJ...That would make for a nice ending. Well, if it were Jim in fact.
