I know there have to be some photo-maniacs out there...Just interested what your 'weapon of choice' is...

Here is my set-up:

Canon XTi/400D
Canon 17-85IS
Canon BG-E3 grip

and here it is with a couple other things:

Canon XTi/400D
Canon 70-200F4L (w/o hood)
Canon BG-E3
Canon E1 Grip Strap
Canon 430ex Speedlite

...hmmmm white lens with red ring...that's where it is at!!

Post 'em up...

Probably not in the same league as many of you D-SLR studs. But the wife and I just picked up a Sony H5. I think it should be a good fit for the family point-n-shoot sort of needs, and the 3" screen is great. If we get a bit more serious, I guess we have the option for lens attachments - but the cost of those have scared me away for the time being.

It's all good...not just looking for DSLRs...the H5 is a pretty nice camera...My P&S is the Sony P200...not bad at all...that's what I mainly use when going places anyways...but I had a sony f828 before and was missing the freedom of different lenses...

I use the Canon Powershot Pro 1. Works great for me. No lens options (real ones anyway) but the 8Mpx is nice and it has a supermacro mode.

Here's a few samples of what I've been able to take.

well, after buying the Olympus Evolt 500 kit with the 2 lens option, it went back in favor of the Canon XTi 400. The problem I had was low light focus issues, and it used the flash as the AF assist. It pulsed the flash repeatedly and sometimes wouldn't take the shot. It made many people mad at my son's birthday dinner angry, and damn near blind not to mention. Sam's Club has them very cheap, about $100 less than Best Buy with the lens (same as what Best Buy gets for the body only), so I had them price match it. Now to get accessories. With the advice of Ollie, I grabbed a better suited camera, with many more affordable lens options since Canon is more widely used and the mount is more common. Thanks for the insight on a great piece of hardware.

Man, I feel put to shame. My gear is almost nothing. Got a nice little Canon DSLR but no macro lenses, no filters, no flashes or light meters. I need a better setup...definitely. Great stuff though, guys. Really pushes one to get off their ass and go further. Just wish this stuff wasn't so damned expensive.

Yes I'm digging up a 13 year old thread. Finally joined the big boys club after my previous camera, which I got just after Co Pilots back in 2009. Only a few minutes with it now, and I'm in love.

I upgraded my D800 to D850 two years ago, when my D800 met the ground with way too much velocity.

Ouch. That hurts to hear. I'm almost tempted to also upgrade my 2008 40D to a 7D II or something. That's my macro camera, so the crop factor works to my advantage.
