I noticed something today...
I've bought a Juliet Ruby last week, then I posted here the pics and everybody said: Oh my God! What a shit! The rubies are orangey!! and somethings like that...
But today I took another picture, of the EXACTLY same glasses, with the exactly same camera, the only diference were the light conditions I think..
But take a look at the difference of the lenses color:

So, the rubies are red or orangey depending of the light and angle???

Yup! That includes when u're using camera flash or not. It'll make the orange-ish Ruby dark red when using flash..

For that price, it's probably the later Fire-like Ruby lenses that are being sold. Oakley's producing more ruby juliet lenses, aren't they? For the reissue? If so, you could probably get them from Oakley direct or your local OPD for half that price.

I really dont know why ppl would pay that much for those particular lenses, they are the frubies./ If you want those its as simple as setting up a lense replacement form oakley, You just send them in and they replace the lenses and they do a frame tune up (replace the screws, tighten up the frame, and all that good stuff.)

Justin, it may be simple to you because you are in US. Take note that not every country has a Oakley warranty service department. And even if they do, Ruby lenses in other countries can be way more expensive. I ran a check previously: In Australia, it's AUD$200. In Canada, it's CDN$200. So to some people, buying on eBay is the only alternative.

Here, ruby replacement lens cost as much as $250 and that is the official price of the authorized distributor of oakley. If I order from an OPD, they will get it from this distributor. So, buying from ebay at $150 is still the best option for me.

I'm not sure about the cost of getting Ruby replacement lenses but I've seen an eBay listing saying that he got new ice replacement lenses, new unobtainium and loose frame is fixed. All for GBP 60. Sounds like a tune-up to me :) The guy is basically selling a tuned-up pair...

Jake, it looks like Oakley charges $60 to change out your current lens to the Ruby ones.

I guess they also do all the other stuff they do when you send 'em in.

Hmm.. that's why I'm tempted to send in my X-Metal Juliet frame without lens, screws and unobtainium to get Ruby replacement lens. But I am hoping that they have the very red Ruby.. not the Fire-like Ruby... I'm gonna email Oakley UK soon :)

I wonder if they'll still charge me GBP 60 because my frame is like brand new lol~

I'll do it.. send them to me then ill ship them in to oakley... might take a bit of time tho but id prefer to pay like the 70 it would cost to do that than pay more than double to have the lenses shipped form elsewhere

Ok so here is the low down.

I did not take the time to read all 300 post so excuse me if someone else has said this.

1. There will be NO serial numbers on the frame, only on the box.
2. The ruby will look like the ruby that was in the Gary Scelzi fives.
3. They are limited edition, they will only be sold for 3 months, and they will only make as many as are initially ordered.
4. O stores, as well as a limited few OPD will carry them but will only get limited amount and when they are gone they are gone.
