Well they're not anymore! Yup, I just picked up a Titanium framed Spike from the London O store. I had no idea this was coming and after hearing about it, it was a total spur of the moment purchase. They are sooo light it's unbelieveable, I haven't weighed them yet but compared to the standard Spike they a world apart. The SKU is 05-957 and the price was £180. Oh and they come with Ti lenses as well.

This probably belongs in the latest purchases thread but I thought that the significance of such a large (weighty) C5 frame getting a Ti debut warranted a seperate thread!

Not with the Ti as far as I'm aware, you'd have to lens swap with the existing Black Ir. Pol. or VR28 Black Pol. if you wanted Polarised in a Ti frame

Those are so sweet, congrats!

I am really liking some of the newer titanium frames like the Crosshair, but this could be next.

Thanks for the pics.

Nice pick up Adam. Since when did the UK get stuff quicker than the rest of us? So they are exactly the same in appearance to already released Light/Titanium or is there a difference?

They're slightly... well, not darker. Matte-er, maybe. You can't really tell unless you look at them next to each other.

See Titanium/Ti Xhair vs. Light/Dark Grey Xhair.

So wait, are these different than the already released Light w/Ti? Also, mine say SS on them...what exactly does that mean?

Yes they are different. They are made out of Titanium alloy (X metal?) and not C5 alloy.

They are more expensive than the C5 Spikes.

Can't wait for it to be available in Holland. It's gonna be Spiked to my nose for sure.

The regular spikes seem very heavy to me.
Using them as driving glasses gave me headaches after awhile.
Ti Spikes seem to be right up my alley!

That's very cool! I didn't know a Ti frame version of the Spike was going to be released. That just made deciding which colorway to possibly get even tougher. Awesome option though.

Ti alloy used for wires is much lighter than X-Metal. It's got more aluminum (Aluminium in Adam's case) than X-Metal (which has a lot more Ti in it). That's why you can bend the stems on a Ti Whisker. You couldn't do that if it were made out of X-Metal.
