Frame/Lens: Pewter/Black Iridium, Pewter/Ruby Iridium, Pewter/Black Iridium Polarized

These were my first pair of Oakleys, bought the Black Iridium ones just after this model came out. They have lasted well although the spring hinges broke about 4 years ago and were replaced by Oakley service. Although I have quite a large head I found they fit really well (spring hinges help) and I never had a problem with them slipping or falling down - even bending over and almost upside down while washing the car they just stay put. Very comfortable and lightweight. My other half calls them my 'Posey Sunglasses' possibly because the lenses are really quite small - I look a bit alien while wearing them. One spring hinge broke again a while back but I managed to find a similar pair used on eBay and swapped the arm out - Oakley have no parts remaining apparently and can't repair them any more. I like them enough to sacrifice another pair to keep them going. Since fixing the original pair I've also got a pair of Ruby and most recently a pair with BIP lenses in them. All great glasses but I think my favourites are still the original BI ones. Classic.

Lens: Ruby Iridium

Small but beautifully formed. On my face they sit -very- close to the eye and the Ruby lens does give me a hint of the insect. A light frame so comfortable for extended wear.

I get a slightly more blue tint off centre which can be a bit strange when looking about. These were my daily pair for several years and have held up remarkably well.

Simply one of the best and most wearable Wires ever made. The orbitals are a little smaller and less oval shaped compared to the E Wire 2.0, making them a fit for smaller to medium heads. However, they look more sleek compared to its predecessors with extra sculpting on the nosebridge and arms to give it a more refined look. The spring hinge works well and the earstems are a work of art. The earsocks on the E Wire 2.1 is a treat, as it's designed a little differently compared to the regular Wire earsocks.

The frame is suprisingly lightweight and wears comfortably for hours on end. For this reason as well as it's sleek looks and it's fine sculpting, I give it a 5.

Purchased these as a my first luxury glasses back in 01' and to this day they work like a champ. Awesome construction, good comfort and premium materials made these a great pair of shades. The small, sculpted 2.1 design and slightly angled lenses were a unique look (not for everyone). The glasses have a very "matrix" like appearance in person, futuristic.

I've got to give props to my old standby E-wires for that last five years. The fit and finish is typical Oakley, that is to say, excellent. As others have said, they can be a little on the small side, but I didn't realize it until I picked up a pair of Big Square wires which fit my big face better. Nonetheless, these glasses are great--sleek, light, and the Black Iridium lens is great for sunny Florida weather. If you can pick up a pair on eBay, it's worth it.

Frame: Pewter
Lens: Ruby Iridium

My only shades with ruby lenses in them and I luckily got one with gen 1 or 2 rubys.
EW 2.1 is nice. Very beautiful stems. The nose bridge looks not that good. I like that there is no "oakley", but it is too round... maybe you understand what I mean. But they look more expensive and just better than the square and the a-wire ... but for me the lenses are a bit small, I really look kinda psycho wearing them. But if you want a classic wire (and not a crosshair ;) ), go get this one, understatement at the highest level.

These have a classic feel to them. They are understaed without the usual aggressive look provided by O. The nose bridge is a bit of a let down but the beutiful detailing on the earstem/spring hinge more than makes up for it.

The e Wire 2.1 fits ok and I like the shape. However, it doesn't stay on my face too well. If I bend down the glasses come off my nose and hang by the earsocks on the side of my head. Otherwise, they fit very well. The spring hinges are good for helping them fit well.

I don't really mind there's only a subtle O near the hinges. I could care whether others knew I was wearing Oakleys or not.

Only my second pair of wires. I do agree that they are a nice blend of the E Wire and A Wire. I found the nose bridge to be a cool change and I wanted to try out a pair wth spring hinges. The ruby lens is one of my favorites and the Pewter frame is a great frame color. They fit me very well and they are one of my most worn pairs.

I agree with the other reviewers in that this is an excellent pair! The frame is fantastic and fits me perfectly. The only thing I wish it had was something to draw attention to the fact that they're Oakleys. Like bong said, a different color metal icon on the ear stems, or something subtle like that. VR28 lens looks great!

Fantastic set of glasses. They look good, they're comfortable to wear, and despite being made of thin "wire," they feel solid enough to feel like they'll last a while. The pewter finish is a beautifully done dark finish that compliments the Ruby lenses perfectly. There's a lot of nice, subtle touches designed into the frame that you notice after a while; the shape of the lenses, the curve of the earstems, the design molded into the unobtanium, and the nice base curve so they wrap around your head and shield your eyes from all angles despite having relatively small lenses. Fantastic.

Yeah, I totally agree with my fellow reviewers. This is a solid pair of sunglasses and it just doesn't garner the attention it deserves. It is a versatile design - good for work or play. Spring hinges provide a comfortable fit. My only criticism is the nose piece design.

Knowing that Ruby lens are just totally awesome, this wire gave it an extra boost to its beauty. The combination of roundness and squareness really made the whole silhouette of this glasses into a masterpiece. I think these are a really solid pair that needs more attention. I love these!!

All i wona say about them, they are perfect! The 2.1 fits my head like they are made for me and everybody try'd them on were satisfied. Frame and lens shape looks beautiful, they are very light and the spring hinges workin' a tree.
Mr. OAKLEY i love these glasses!! That's why i bought three pairs of them.
Ps: about my head, it's really not that out of shape, NOT very !!

Frame: Pewter/Pewter
Lens: Ruby Iridium or Black Iridium/Clear RX

the frames itself are a work of art, clearly and unmistably Oakley but everything is tastefully done. the earstems are especially beautiful, especially the sculpted sping hinge mechanism area. i especially love how part of the earstem sits within a small niche at the frames, very much like the Juliet. even the unobtanium earsock piece has a little sculpted scoop motif. the lens shape is also very unique, mixing up the best forms of Square Wire, A Wire, and E Wire 2.0. the frames are very comfortable, and is a great fit for those with larger faces. because of the looser spring hinge i can wear these for hours and not get any tension on my temples.

i have two of these, one converted to regular eyeglasses with clear RX lenses. the other i swap around the Ruby Iridium of the Black Iridium depending on my mood. the Black Iridium looks like any other Black Iridiums available, but the Ruby Iridium has a deep red colour with a less mirror-like reflection than other Ruby Iridiums i've seen. for example my A Wire 2.0's Ruby Iridium is more orangey and has a more mirrorlike reflection.

great frame design on this one, if they added a small, metal O icon on the earstems, they would be perfect!

I grabbed these out of love for the Ruby lens and another try on the spring hinge. I had found it loose on the C and even more so on this frame. A beautiful frame with it's little added details in the nose bridge and the ear stems. I loved the half round half box lens shape. They seemed to be a larger fit though, which is why the spring was looser on these, maybe even un-necessary. Another one of Oakley's styles for someone who found the 2.0 too small.

Frame: Bronze
Lens: VR28 Polarized

A fine addition to the e Wire family. The 2.1 lens shape is a unique blending of e Wire, a Wire, and Square Wire shapes (big change from the ovals on the original and 2.0). Spring hinges are a welcome feature, although they are not the same mechanism as used on the other wires (a Wire, Square Wire, etc.). The ear stems have a nice sculpted detail near the hinges. The VR28 Polarized lenses look great with the rich color of the Bronze frame.
