Color: Titanium/Black Face/Silver Dials

The first time I saw this watch appear on Oakley's site, my jaw just dropped. Without a doubt, the Time Tank completely exemplifies all that is Oakley, a design that is cutting edge, extremely unique, and never before seen anywhere else. Since seeing it, it has always been on my "to buy someday" list, and the day has finally come that I can own one.

First, to state the obvious...this watch is HUGE. If you *think* it's big...well don't think, because it IS BIG. Size was a concern to me as my wrist is definitely on the skinny side, measuring exactly 6 inches, and I was going to buy this watch sight unseen. Despite all the research I could do, for some strange reason this watch's measurements are simply nowhere to be found, so here they are for the benefit of anybody else considering this watch: it has a case diameter of 46mm including the crown, 43mm without, and the height from lug to lug is 53mm. The crystal is a perfect square of 33mm wide and tall. Thickness off the wrist is 11mm. Bracelet width is 28mm, and is 10mm thick at the thickest part, the hex bolt housing. Despite my skinny wrist, I can pull off this watch without too much worry...what makes it look so big in reality is the fact that it's square, and that the corners fill out your wrist much more than a round watch. In reality, this watch is the exact same size as most of Casio's G-shock watches, and I can pull those off just fine.

Thanks to the all titanium construction, this watch is relatively light for its size. I also own the Judge and GMT and have to say, those two can get pretty uncomfortable at times because of all the weight literally pressing into your wrist. The Time Tank still has good heft, simply because of how much metal it contains...you'll definitely still feel this watch on your wrist. With 5 links removed my Time Tank weighs 160 grams...my Judge also with 5 links removed weighs 220 grams in comparison.

On to what really gave this watch its name, the awesome bracelet. The design is just so incredibly original that you can't help but think "gee, why didn't anybody else come up with that idea earlier?", just like the spinal column bracelet used on the GMT and Judge. It visually looks very much like the treads of a tank, and that is what I have always thought whenever seeing pictures of this watch. Seeing it in person only reinforces this idea.

Each link of the bracelet is made out of solid brushed titanium, no folded stuff here, and is one of the easiest bracelets I've ever sized thanks to the hex bolts. The clasp opens through two side push buttons. One of the really awesome things about the Time Tank's clasp is that it has two segments, one permanently set in place, the other the part that flips open. Both parts of this clasp can be microadjusted using a spring bar to 3 positions, for a total of 6 microadjustable positions. As such, you're pretty much guaranteed a perfect fit one way or another. The washers seem to be a black, hard plastic, with no signs of oil or anything between the washers and the links. Whether or not they are really "reinforced with carbon fiber" or "self lubricating", is up in the air.

The entire watch case is also made from solid brushed titanium, while the back has an awesome large engraving of what looks like tracks left by tank treads going diagonally across the back of the case. The dial itself is beautifully detailed in a very industrial-like manner, and the sapphire crystal is very clear. The antireflective coating is visible at certain angles as a flash of purple, which is in itself pretty eye catching. The crown is a screw-in crown, and turns very smoothly when adjusting the time.

All in all, if you get this watch, it is definitely for the looks. It doesn't get 5 stars from me due to it using a simple battery powered quartz system. Internally there's just nothing special going on. Nonetheless I do think that the external design of the watch is worth its price...to design this watch and then to mold titanium to create this watch's shape can't be cheap. If you want a watch that really screams Oakley, then this is a must have.

Only have seen/worn the ti-bracellet and really love this watch. I wore the Ti with black face for 8 hours today and loved it all day, it is not so light as to be with out notice but it is still very light. The looks of the face and especially the band are fantastic! I do wish there was a smidge of shaping to the case, the left side seems a bit of an afterthought with the small shapping to try and match the right side, not quite done all the way to me. Other than that there is nothing to keep this watch from being absolutly the best, except for the thing about Ti scratching easy since it is soft, I have put a few marks on the store demo - yikes!!

Titanium/Yellow

I always kind of liked this watch, but after meeting up with a bunch of other Oakley fanatics, I realized that I hadn't really "matured" as a collector: I was one of two people that didn't have one. I got to try one on, and after getting a feel for it, I resolved to buy one.

I got an unbeatable deal on the exact one I wanted at the exact time I wanted to buy one. This is now my favorite watch, though it's a bit much for everyday wear.

I have very large wrists, so this fit me without removing a link. It garners a lot of attention. Everyone notices it. It's so far removed from conventional watch styling that everybody seems to comment on it.

I recommend getting one to anyone who is on the fence. It is the mark of the true Oakley connoisseur, and when paired with an x-metal, they're an unbeatable combination.

The only reason I give it 4 stars is because the buy-in price dissuaded me for a full 9 years. Now, I wish I had gotten one much sooner.

I've had my Time Tank for sometime. LOVE IT! My only problem is I can't get a replacement band for it. Would love the titanium bracelet but not even the leather band can be bought from Oakely! I'm crushed!!!!! Any ideas where to get them? It's worth the price just have to find them.
CrazyALee -
Got a really good deal on a used one. And due to its titanium finish, I simply used a SCOTCH BRITE sponge and carefully buffed out the scratches it had, both on the case and the bracelet. Looks almost brand new!

The bracelet is my favorite part. It looks like bullets, tank treads, bicycle chains from the side, something crazy along that line.

It has a nice weight to the watch...its not too heavy and not too light. I love anti-reflective coating on the sapphire crystal, how it gives a bluish/purple hue at certain angles under the light. This watch has Oakley's heritage and culture all over it.

THis is a very unique watch!!

An elegantly mad treasure! Beautiful timepiece.

Picked up a used titanium bracelet one with black dial for just under 400....didnt come with box or anything and had just enough links as I still removed one to fit my wrist. Good deal still. Had quite some scratches and looks like it had its use but I simply took a SCOTCH BRITE and carefully scrubbed at the titanium and it removed almost all the scratches...the watch looks brand spanknig new...at least 9/10 condition again.

took it to oakley HQ to get battery replaced just to have a peace of mind that it will last at least another 4 years because I dont know how much longer the current battery would last.

Love this watch....has Oakley's philosophy and culture all over it. Its a lot lighter than it looks like everyone else says.

I posted earlier to get opinion Yellow or Black Face. I decided to go with black. I recieved 2 days ago. Awesome watch. It's lots lighter than it look. It feel very comfortable too. I give a 5 stars.
Yellow or Black -
I ordered a Yellow limited Time Tank then had second thought. I changed it to Black and now I wanted Yellow.
Please help me out. I couldn't decide which one.
I afraid yellow color will be out of style in time. Basic black will look good for a long time.

Red Face/Unobtainium Strap

I've owned this watch for three years and couldn't be happier. I've changed the strap once in that time because I used to wear it every day and the strap started cracking. I only wear it when going out now and I still got tons of compliments. Im looking to get another one with the titanium bracelet.

This particular tank deserves a bit of recognition because of its departure from the standard coloring of most of the other tanks and incorporating a slightly different dial. The other appealing factor (aside from the color differentiation) is that Oakley seems to have finally made something that they refer to as "limited" actually "limited". After a relatively short period of time the watch became unavailable on Oakley's website and has since been listed as "sold out". Perhaps the biggest drawback, however, lies in the fact that the "yellow" almost appears to be a dull "orange". It would have been nice if the yellow had been done correctly.

The more I wear this watch the greater its appeal becomes. After finally unwrapping my first Tank and adjusting the band I can honestly say that I am more than impressed. The band is still the intriguing factor - both aesthetically and functionally - and adjustment is super-easy (so UNLIKE the requirement to physically "cut" the band of certain newer-released Oakley timepieces) with the use of a common hex wrench. The Red face on this particular timepiece, however, seems to glow and shimmer with a satin-like finish. Without question, the pictures on Oakley's website do little justice in the representation of this beautiful timepiece. Again, the only drawback is that Oakley could have made the watch just slightly smaller to appeal to a wider demographic.

Got my first Minute Machine and love the watch. I purchased the leather band version and have ordered the titanium replacement bracelet to have the ability to change it as I feel. This is an awesome watch and elicits many responses when others notice it. I have a medium to small wrist size and it is big but not to big. The weight is noticeable but I wear it as an every day watch with out any problems. I was on the fence for a long time before purchasing due to the sheer size of the watch and there is no Oakley store near to check it out at. I bit the bullet and have no regrets as this is one of my best Oakley purchases.

I've never been a watch wearer so far. Then, a few month ago, I got my first Oakley watch, an Oakley Time Bomb (titanium dial). But that watch has so much value in my eyes that I can't resolve myself to get it out of his display case and wear it. I'm way too afraid about damaging it.
So I had to get an Oakley watch that I'd wear everyday. My choice went to the Time Tank (well, Minute Machine, ok). I bought it a few days ago and I'm already convinced that this is the best watch ever made in term of design.
The Time Tank is awesome, beautiful, wonderful, splendid ... and I could give a lot more adjectives is my english vocabulary was not that poor.
If you have a small wrist like mine, you'll have to remove 2 or 3 links, which won't be a problem with the hex-bolts.
You may go to an authorized Oakley dealer if you're afraid about damaging your watch by removing links though.
With respect to the weight, the watch seems really heavy but the titanium matter helps keeping a decent weight, so don't be afraid, despite a massive look, your wrist won't feel painful. I keep mine all day long and don't feel the need to remove it except for not damaging it at work.
The reaction of people looking at the watch are usually "Wow !", and this is definitely something that people look with curiosity.
I think that none of my O purchase have been more useful than this one. I'm going to wear it all year long, from summer to winter, with sunny or rainy days ... everyday, every time. So yes, this watch is a bit pricey, but come on, it's all worth it !

Face: Red
Band: Titanium

Recently, it was asked "What one creation can you say epitomizes Oakley's industrial design?" One of the first things to pop into my head was the Time Tank.

This marvel of time-keeping machinery definitely has that sturdy, industrial feel to it, but surprisingly, it's a lot lighter than one might expect at first glance. Even with the impressively-designed Titanium band, this watch is easy to wear, though I do notice just a tad bit of fatigue after very extended periods of time, possibly due to where I wear the watch.

Adjusting the size of the band is quite easy. I was able to do it within a matter of seconds. And with the help of an awesome O-Reviewer, I was taught how to fine-tune the fitting so that it's just right by lengthening and shortening the band near the latch.

Overall, the Time Tank is a very eye-catching piece of hardware, and definitely worth its weight in gold...or rather, titanium.

Got my hands on a silver-faced, silver dialed with brown leather strap version. A I said earlier with the all-black leather strap model, the leather-strap versions, imo, turn out best color-wise. I've had compliments ranging from the postal clerk to a real estate agent at a new house showroom, and even from, surprise of surprises, my mother-in-law! One thing though:this won't fit those with very small wrists. I oscillate between the last and next to last strap-holes on the leather band as my wrist expands and contracts throughout the day and over seasonal changes. Can't afford to lose any more weight, otherwise these TT/MMs would hang loose. For now, these are my regulars, and should be for quite a long while.

Red face/unobtanium band - Simply awesome! I liked the look of the watch right away. I kept debating between the titanium link band and the rubber. I'm not a small guy, but the titanium band still seemed too big for me. I might have been able to pull it off, but the rubber band is really makes it an everyday/all purpose watch. The best part is that I've never seen anyone else wear one of these watches, as opposed to the Rolex Submariner that EVERYONE down here has. Nice to have something a little different for sure!

10-191 Black face w/Black leather strap

I once said to an Oakley store employee that I wasn't sure the Minute Machine (formerly Time Tank) was for me. Well, I somehow took the leap, and it's now my favorite watch. It's Titanium, so not as heavy as it looks. The leather strap is comfortable to wear, although the Titanium bracelet probably looks better for display purposes. Oakley.com shows that the leather-strap editions have unique watch face designs versus the bracelet editions. I think the all-black face is most awesome, especially with a black strap.

Hello,
I got this as a gift from oakley. they gave me the leather strap one though. At first i thought it was big too...but after putting it on your wrist for a while, it doesnt seem as big...I dont wear it that much because im not really a watch type of guy...my brother got one too....and so did my manager..she sold hers for like 450 almost a year and a half ago...anyways...my brother says a lot of people ask about his watch...and i believe him because the times that i do wear it, it also brings attention...the only thing i do not like is that if i leave it sitting for a while (a week), the day displayed is a full day back...weird...but it is a nice watch indeed...

Titaniam Band- Red Face-Silver Dials

Band: The band has an eye catching design that looks much like a bike chain or tank treads heald together with hex screws and self lubricating graphite washers. Wrapped up with a solid clasp completing the design in a very solid fashion.

CASE: The casing on this beautiful watch may suggest there will be a weight issue as its rather large; however, with Oakley technology and innovation weight is not an issue. Titanium was a perfect choice for this watch for both weight reduction and stunning good looks. Ive been wearing the Minute Machine/Time Tank for over a week and i hardly even notice im wearing it until someone comments on it.

Amazing Watch!

Face: Black with Diamonds

Most of us are already well aware of the Time Tank, and it needs little introduction or detailed information. Having just acquired the "grail" of Time Tanks - the limited edition diamond dial - I felt it necessary to submit a review.

I must say that I was very excited at the opportunity to add this piece to the collection. From a collector's standpoint, having a prestigious piece such as a $3,500.00 watch seldom surfaces. After receiving the watch, however, I am very disappointed. The diamonds around the perimeter of the face are tiny; the diamonds on the center of the face (around the chronographs) are "microscopic". They're just SO small that it may have been better to not include them at all - really. It seems that Oakley tried to visually hide this by making the portion of the face where the microscopic diamonds are set a "chrome" color, helping to obscure the fact that the diamonds are incredibly small.

Overall, the watch still looks okay, and of course the construction includes some of the best materials that one could really ask for (full titanium casing and pure sapphire crystal). In the end, however, a watch carrying a hefty $3,500.00 pricetag - nearly three times the cost of any other full titanium Time Tank - really should be more than just "okay": it should be "spectacular". This watch isn't. I honestly feel that a $500 - $1000 premium on this watch (which would have translated into a retail value of approximately $1,700.00 - $2,200.00) would have been far more appropriate.

I have 5 Oakley watches in my collection. And the TIme Tank is my absolute favorite! My only problem with this is...I can't seem to take it off! I just love it! If my other watches could be jealous...I think they'd be dying of jealousy now! He he! Dunno how I can go back to regular looking watches anymore :( Even my Rols and Tag Heuer watches look plain compared to this!

Color: Titanium / Red Face
Oh how the tank watch has evolved. Cartier's tank watch will always be the "original", but this is the most original take on the tank style watch that I have ever seen. Incredibl light despite it's hefty looks. I'm used to wearing an Omega SeaMaster and this is much lighter. I chalk that up to high quality, high strength, lightweight materials .vs chintzy aluminum. The red face really stands out.

The strap lives up to the "tank" moniker and indeed looks like a tank track on your wrist. They are super easy to size, thanks to the hex bolts.

All in all, a great watch and my favorite when it comes to Oakley watches. However, being a battery powered watch, I give it a HIGH 4 stars and not a 5. If this was a "self winding" or solar powered or kinetic drive watch, it would rate a full 5.

Get one, you won't be dissappointed.

Black Dial-Uno Band. This is my second Tank, but wanted to comment on the Ubo Band. Great Band, soft. Just wanted to make a comment about the length, I would have like to have seen it maybe 1/2" or so longer. Maybe 1 or 2 more sets of holes would have been nice.

I've had my Time Tank for about 6 months and, of 74 watches that I own, it is by far the most worn. Superb in design, it has, like a Porsche 911,an industrial beauty to it. It never ceases to arouse envious commentary. Superbly comfortable. It takes a certain personality to pull off wearing this watch.
TERRORISM -
Casing: Titanium

The Time Tank is one of those watches that makes you do a double-take at first glance. Big, bulky, and aesthetically defined, this watch exemplifies Oakley's attribute of "art" encased in pure titanium with a sapphire crystal. Although I haven't yet worn it, I have heard that it garners attention and compliments like no other timepiece. The watch is also heavy-duty and carries considerable weight. The only mentionable drawback is that the physical size seems to be a bit much. Oakley may have considered designing a slightly smaller watch that would also appeal to those with smaller wrists.
idealoakley -
This is by far the best Oakley purchase I have made. The watch is Huge, heavy, rugged and very functional. It is water resistant to depths I will not even consider SCUBA diving to, so it will be fine for any water conditions that you can throw at it.
It has a chrono function that does come in handy when you are timing how long you have been sitting and admiring the watch's beauty.
This watch SCREAMS "OAKLEY"
I only have one suggestion for this watch, and that would be to have gas filled capsules that glow like a LUMINOX watch does. The TIME TANK's hands do glow, but do not stay glowing for hours and hours. Would be nice if it came with a VAULT like the TIME BOMB but it does come with a nice wooden presentation box for storage/display. Still I will rate this watch a 5 out of 5.

Color: Titanium - Black Dial

Since the introduction earlier this year I had only seen the Time Tank on the Internet. In Holland there are no dealers that sell Oakley watches anymore. Nontheless, this watch had such an impact that I just had to buy it when I got the chance. During my Christmas vacation a trip to LA and of course HQ made that dream possible.

The first time it was handed to me I thought it would be so incredibly heavy, but although the big dimensions and the big bracelet it is fairly light. It still not a light watch, but compared to a GMT or Judge it is a lightweight.
The brushed titanium gives the watch a distinquished and rich look, when the bracelet with it's bolts, the crown and the rivets on the dial give it the industrial Oakley trademark to it.
The black dial with the titanium smaller dials makes a great contrast with the bright red hands.

This is just the best watch that ever came out of the minds of those mad scientists at Foothill Ranch. The detail and quality combined in such a masterpiece is something to stop and think about for a while. This watch will make the hole in you wallet worth while!

Titanium/Silver

Caution: this watch is not for the faint of heart as this is the Rottweiler of wristwatches!
The designers and engineers @ Oakley have done a wonderful job in capturing the essence of this time piece. This is one LARGE watch and worthy of the name: TANK. But unlike my GMT, this item doesn’t feel has heavy to me, perhaps due to being fabricated out of Titanium? The links and clasp are true works of art. I work in a manufacturing industry that caters to the Military and we produce vehicles which actually use tracks with links such as Oakley has portrayed in the links of this watch, very realistic and intriguing at the same time. The face of this watch is very detailed and full of useful information. I am amazed that a fine timepiece of this caliber does not cost a lot more than Oakley sells these for, Outstand Job Oakley. I cannot see how they will out do themselves in their next masterpiece after the Timetank.

PS - The packaging for this watch if first rate too; an outer master shipping carton which inside consists of one smaller cushioned watch "transport" carton, then followed by a well done display case, in the true Oakley spirit.
american image -
i have the titanium/silver dial, and i must say , it feels better than the GMT on the wrist. there are no pins than can come out, the band is mounted with bolts, so that shouldn't be a problem anymore. the dial is rather big, but not to the point that it is ridiculous, the square surface also makes it look bigger than it actually is. colour titanium is very classic, silver dial is perfect to the titanium. The shape of the band is something else, you hate it or love it, but it is a very oakley-esque . industrial design at it's top. all in all, a must-have
Pez -
Tried the leather band one on last weekend and WOW!! Ok yes it is BIG. REALLY BIG. But here's the strange thing, I have skinny little girl wrist, but it fit me perfectly. The Time Bomb, which most would say is smaller than the time tank, doesn't fit my wrist because it is too long. The Tank is big, but it actually fit my wrist better than the TB. To sum it up you will be noticed with this watch, it is very nice and classy, but also very daring and forward. In otherwords it's all things Oakley. I WILL own this watch one day with the metal band oh yes.

I've been waiting a while to do this review because I really wanted to give myself a chance to get to know this watch. It's been almost 3 months now and this watch and I have come to be very close. I have been nothing but impressed with this watch from the first day I bought. The packaging was superb and I felt as if I had bought the world's best watch just looking at the wooden box in came with. The feel is sturdy and strong. The bracelet is unique and funky. I have been stopped on the street by people who wanted to take a closer look. It is a great statement by Oakley and I love how it creates a reaction in everyone that sees it. When something comes along that stirs up reaction as strong as the TT, you know you got something special. Oh, it also tells the time, but that's not the point of this watch though is it? I'd give it 6 skulls if I could.
fin7 -
As soon as the outer cardboard is removed you know there is something very special inside. Wrapped inside the outer cardboard are two black O icon marked boxes. Inside the larger of the two boxes is the solid black padded box, with the TT coin embedded into it. In the smaller of the two boxes is the Time Tank itself, swathed in padding. The technology speaks for itself (see description above).
Links that look like the tread of a tank are held together by 2.5mm hex key screws, that protrude to hold each link inplace. unbelievably light considering the size.
The main dial hand counts seconds in stopwatch mode.
The bottom Stopwatch Sub dial displays 1/10 second (which rotates at one full rotation per second for the first 30 seconds), then switches to hour counting. The left hand sub dial counts minutes.
The hands can be fine tuned as per the GMT. Screw in crown adds to the qualty. All in all a stunning timepiece
jumpman73 -
TRULY AMAZING!

I cannot believe how light this watch is. When I first saw it I did thought it would weigh a ton. When I put it on, it didn't even feel like it was there. The style of the watch is awesome too. I'm not a very big fan of square/rectangular watches but this is something else. It is an awesome time piece. Details are beautiful. The only bad thing is that it didn't come with a Vault like the Time Bomb, but who cares, you can't have it all.
oogie -
The Tank is another great creation from Oakley! One of the primary reasons I enjoy Oakley watches is the unique bands and clasps - and the TT is no exception. The links on this band are simply amazing: the tread look, washers and hex screws at the ends are jaw-dropping. The clasp is fantastic - though I wish they incorporated a sweet icon (ala TimeBomb) in the clasp.

The casing: it looks big and square and it is big and square. I was a bit surprised that the second-hand on the main dial is not actually the second hand, but is used to track minutes on the stop-watch feature (reminds me of the GMT second hand). The main crown screw is very cool in that it actually screws into the casing for greater moisture protection.

Overall, this is just an amazing watch that is bound to get noticed. Not heavy at all (thought with the size, you almost wish it had a bit more heft to it). Everything about it feels very durable. Go out and get one, now! Don't wait six years for them to show up on Overstock.com for $450 (like TB).

Diamond Dial Time Tank!!!! Say no more for me... This is the sickest watch ever.... This is my 17th Oakley watch to add to my collection and I do not know how I will ever wear any of my other watches, after getting this one.... Love it..
