Color: Titanium/Black Face/Silver Dials

The first time I saw this watch appear on Oakley's site, my jaw just dropped. Without a doubt, the Time Tank completely exemplifies all that is Oakley, a design that is cutting edge, extremely unique, and never before seen anywhere else. Since seeing it, it has always been on my "to buy someday" list, and the day has finally come that I can own one.

First, to state the obvious...this watch is HUGE. If you *think* it's big...well don't think, because it IS BIG. Size was a concern to me as my wrist is definitely on the skinny side, measuring exactly 6 inches, and I was going to buy this watch sight unseen. Despite all the research I could do, for some strange reason this watch's measurements are simply nowhere to be found, so here they are for the benefit of anybody else considering this watch: it has a case diameter of 46mm including the crown, 43mm without, and the height from lug to lug is 53mm. The crystal is a perfect square of 33mm wide and tall. Thickness off the wrist is 11mm. Bracelet width is 28mm, and is 10mm thick at the thickest part, the hex bolt housing. Despite my skinny wrist, I can pull off this watch without too much worry...what makes it look so big in reality is the fact that it's square, and that the corners fill out your wrist much more than a round watch. In reality, this watch is the exact same size as most of Casio's G-shock watches, and I can pull those off just fine.

Thanks to the all titanium construction, this watch is relatively light for its size. I also own the Judge and GMT and have to say, those two can get pretty uncomfortable at times because of all the weight literally pressing into your wrist. The Time Tank still has good heft, simply because of how much metal it contains...you'll definitely still feel this watch on your wrist. With 5 links removed my Time Tank weighs 160 grams...my Judge also with 5 links removed weighs 220 grams in comparison.

On to what really gave this watch its name, the awesome bracelet. The design is just so incredibly original that you can't help but think "gee, why didn't anybody else come up with that idea earlier?", just like the spinal column bracelet used on the GMT and Judge. It visually looks very much like the treads of a tank, and that is what I have always thought whenever seeing pictures of this watch. Seeing it in person only reinforces this idea.

Each link of the bracelet is made out of solid brushed titanium, no folded stuff here, and is one of the easiest bracelets I've ever sized thanks to the hex bolts. The clasp opens through two side push buttons. One of the really awesome things about the Time Tank's clasp is that it has two segments, one permanently set in place, the other the part that flips open. Both parts of this clasp can be microadjusted using a spring bar to 3 positions, for a total of 6 microadjustable positions. As such, you're pretty much guaranteed a perfect fit one way or another. The washers seem to be a black, hard plastic, with no signs of oil or anything between the washers and the links. Whether or not they are really "reinforced with carbon fiber" or "self lubricating", is up in the air.

The entire watch case is also made from solid brushed titanium, while the back has an awesome large engraving of what looks like tracks left by tank treads going diagonally across the back of the case. The dial itself is beautifully detailed in a very industrial-like manner, and the sapphire crystal is very clear. The antireflective coating is visible at certain angles as a flash of purple, which is in itself pretty eye catching. The crown is a screw-in crown, and turns very smoothly when adjusting the time.

All in all, if you get this watch, it is definitely for the looks. It doesn't get 5 stars from me due to it using a simple battery powered quartz system. Internally there's just nothing special going on. Nonetheless I do think that the external design of the watch is worth its price...to design this watch and then to mold titanium to create this watch's shape can't be cheap. If you want a watch that really screams Oakley, then this is a must have.

Only have seen/worn the ti-bracellet and really love this watch. I wore the Ti with black face for 8 hours today and loved it all day, it is not so light as to be with out notice but it is still very light. The looks of the face and especially the band are fantastic! I do wish there was a smidge of shaping to the case, the left side seems a bit of an afterthought with the small shapping to try and match the right side, not quite done all the way to me. Other than that there is nothing to keep this watch from being absolutly the best, except for the thing about Ti scratching easy since it is soft, I have put a few marks on the store demo - yikes!!

Titanium/Yellow

I always kind of liked this watch, but after meeting up with a bunch of other Oakley fanatics, I realized that I hadn't really "matured" as a collector: I was one of two people that didn't have one. I got to try one on, and after getting a feel for it, I resolved to buy one.

I got an unbeatable deal on the exact one I wanted at the exact time I wanted to buy one. This is now my favorite watch, though it's a bit much for everyday wear.

I have very large wrists, so this fit me without removing a link. It garners a lot of attention. Everyone notices it. It's so far removed from conventional watch styling that everybody seems to comment on it.

I recommend getting one to anyone who is on the fence. It is the mark of the true Oakley connoisseur, and when paired with an x-metal, they're an unbeatable combination.

The only reason I give it 4 stars is because the buy-in price dissuaded me for a full 9 years. Now, I wish I had gotten one much sooner.

I've had my Time Tank for sometime. LOVE IT! My only problem is I can't get a replacement band for it. Would love the titanium bracelet but not even the leather band can be bought from Oakely! I'm crushed!!!!! Any ideas where to get them? It's worth the price just have to find them.

Got a really good deal on a used one. And due to its titanium finish, I simply used a SCOTCH BRITE sponge and carefully buffed out the scratches it had, both on the case and the bracelet. Looks almost brand new!

The bracelet is my favorite part. It looks like bullets, tank treads, bicycle chains from the side, something crazy along that line.

It has a nice weight to the watch...its not too heavy and not too light. I love anti-reflective coating on the sapphire crystal, how it gives a bluish/purple hue at certain angles under the light. This watch has Oakley's heritage and culture all over it.

THis is a very unique watch!!
