This was introduced as a Sunglass Hut exclusive lens in 2000/2001 I believe. It does have a grey base lens that is slightly blue when viewing through. As with most Iridium coatings, I don't believe they effect what color you see as much as the base does. Not many companies were even using green at this point for lenses, I mean sure Revo had green glass and Bolle had something like this in the 90s, but it was a great first with Oakley. A few other companies had even intro'd green lenses after this had come out. Though named Emerald, it didn't show green like a true emerald. It was more of a Gold and Pale Green blend. A great overall lens though.
Although not quite as illustrious as the name suggests, Emerald Iridium still offers excellent contrast, beautiful color, and great protection. Truly this is one of the more versatile lenses that Oakley has created: somehow it seems to be well-suited for bright conditions, yet isn't overly dark on overcast days. Too bad the polarized version was extremely limited, as this would have no doubt made an award-winning combo with the Juliet.
When going for a green colored lens, emerald is not my first choice. I prefer the color and tint of jade iridium. The emerald inside and out is rather dull, good for sunny days and passable on cloudy days but if I had the choice I'd go with jade.
I'm a little torn on these. I have these in my carbon Juliet's which make an awesome combo, but the contrast is lacking. I know it's not meant to be a contrast enhancing lens, but these lenses seem a little more gry than other grey based lenses. I don't own too many grey based lenses, but I don't think I'll replace this. The color is awesome and maybe over time, I will get used to the greyish/bluish tint that these give off while looking through.
Love this lens. I have them on a pair of Jupiters. I do wish they were a *tad* greener, though. Haven't seen Jade in person yet. Looks like it may overtake the Emerald. Looking through it is great. A little darker than through Ruby. Just as much contrast.
These ones are the lenses of the first oakley sunglasses pair I ever purchased, back in 2004.What a glorious day, what a glorious pair!!!The splice gunmetal/polished black-emerald iridium. The lenses are more than great, they have this typical intense tint, which unlike the newer colours such as tungsten,vr28 black polarized, has not uniformity, but it's ranging from a bright sky blue,to emerald of course, and then a pale yellow/brown depending on the agle you see the lenses from. The emerald colour specificly,is impressive, and it being rare, makes it more priceless. This one is as much outstanding as the +red iridium, and the fire iridium. When you look through it,it appears to be black, and frankly, the first time I was wearing them,I couldn't tell the difference between them, and the black iridium lenses.Only after close inpection under bright light did I manage to locate the differences.Of course they are highly recommended for bright light.I had no problems at all.Since I don't have their polarized edition,I can only imagine how effective and efficient that would be.The emerald iridium is a pleasure to the eye.
Just got a pair of custom Tens with this lens and I really like them. Though they're not super green on the outside, I really like the view looking through them. It's almost a purple tint. I'd say they're blue, but I've had the ruby lens and these have more of a periwinkle color than the true blue of the ruby. These are ideal for sunny days as it makes everything come down to a more overcast shade.

im torn between getting the emerald iridium or getting the black iridium. ive never owned a green lense before and not sure if its worth the risk? any thoughts?
I like to throw these in my Juliets every March for St. Paddy's Day. Definitely a unique and uncommon color. Shows good contrast/grey when using.
My new MotoGP Holbrooks just arrived today and I am disappointed that they are not as green as I thought. More like a pale green to yellow however the view through the lens is great. We'll see how they prove in the long run.
I'm just a tad bit disappointed with these. The sales rep at Oakley Vault pushed these hard. I wanted a pair of lenses that would be suitable for driving in lower light conditions, because I own a set of Polarized Ice Iridium and Polarized Black Iridium. I wanted to use the positive red, but the guy insisted on Emerald. I wish the store wasn't located indoors, because I personally feel like the contrast it thrown way off, but in an ok way. Maybe it's because I'm used to looking through polarized lenses? I don't know. I give these 4 stars because they look sweet in the sun. The different angles give it distinct colors, and the blueish tint while looking through them is soothing. However, it seems much more bland than my Polarized Ice, which seems to burst with contrast compared to these. Still not a bad pair though, and a keeper for the collection.
My favorite lens right now with nice color, easy to adapt and mirrored. When I compared the Titanium to Emerald, I was surprised that Emerald had more of a tint than Titanium. Besides the nice mirror color, what I love best is looking through it, you don't need to adjust your eyes like other iridiums. This is a very glassy green, not too outlandish like Fire, Ruby or Blue Iridium. I love it!!!!
I'm torn on this lens. I originally bought it due to it's exclusivity, but I never really like how it looked. It was always more gold than green. The only pair I ever had with these lenses I rarely wore due to my lack of love for color/contrast enhancing lenses. They were cool to look at, but much less so to look through.
These lenses look sweet when in intense lighting. And of all the lenses I have, I like driving in these the most. If you have ever looked out of Ruby Iridium lenses before the coloring and light transmission is very similar, but just with a bit more blue. I would like to see more of the polarized version of these lenses in models to come.
very good lens! i like the unique tint to it. i got them XLJ style for my half jackets for a change from the standar black iridium lens i've been using for years. they worked out great last week when i tried them out. used pretty much for beach volleyball. a good find. saw them on display at the Oakley factory lobby shop.
One of the best looking lenses for bright/sunny conditions. Very nice heavy mirror iridium finish -- can't really see the eyes of the person wearing them. The grey base is nice, and this transmission rate is my favorite -- 13%. ;-) But on a serious note, the transmission rate is about perfect, as I find some of the darker lenses with neutral characteristics (grey base), can sometimes make colors seem duller than they are.
A somewhat hipper version of the old Grey lens. I have the rx (sight only) version in a pair of bronze Half Jackets (XLJ).
Tend to like the grey base (have a Grey Radar lens and a + Red Iridium M Frame lens as well). It gives a very comfortable vision in clear conditions. The Emerald Iridium is similar (compared to Grey) to what Ice Iridium is compared to Black Iridium. A bit cooler and more attractive as well.

Just bought this lens for my juliet polished, very impressed with the color definition in bright light. I agree with Tim, they look SWEET in the juliets, very futuristic looking. The view through these lenses is slightly blue tinted, but very neutral, similar to my black iridium polarized, but more bright.
Very good lens better than black iridium. This lens is far more colour enhancing than black iridium. Sky is blue as blue and that looks nice in my opinion. The lens tint is very appealing especially on the Juliets wow they look cool in emerald! Has a hint of yellow at certain angles but I believe earlier generation emeralds were greener. Overall this lens is a favourite of mine very natural looking tint. (not over the top like reds fires etc!)
i got the splice emerald. the green and black combo makes it military like. Kinda like a night vision lol. the green tint looks cool and as far as light transmission, u can use these even on the suniest days
I am a fan of the Emerald, but there seems to be a change taking place in this lens lately. I have noticed a more goldish tone on the latest Emeralds I have come across. The true Emeralds are a beautiful tone of green throughout and look great. These seem to be harder to find in recent releases. I hope Oakley isn't phasing it out.
Sorry man, I love the lens as much as you do, but they are scratchable....very. The resistant part is beacause of the fact that you cant see the scratches as well as other lenses like ruby, 24k fire etc. Other than that, i wish they would put it on more glasses like monster dogs. That would be pretty sick
It's something different, not favourite. Very colorfull but cool. You could create cool combos and they looks nice everytime. Good for bright sun and better than Black Iridium, I think. The base should be the same, but by the coatings they get different and at emerald it's better. But I think they are much darker than Black Iridium, even they should be lighter. Someone said they are unscratchable, but only rumor. They are very resistant, much more than the real colorfull, shiny lenses like Fire,+Red or Ruby
Nice to look through like Black but with that little added touch of flair. Iridium looks awesome out in the sun!
For me it is the nicest lens out there. Very soothing but still very sharp and clear, not like the ruby's that seem to decrease the contrast. Definately a must have!
I have this lens in my Juliet. This is one of my favorite lenses. Not super exciting to look through. It flatens out green, and makes the sky slightly bluer. Very soothing on the eyes. It is one of my 3 must have's
My favorite lense, after Ruby of course. Enough color on the outside to stand out to passerbys. Dark enough for the brightest days, and yet great for low light too.
Quite a nice soothing lense to look through, but not spectacular.
But pretty much a really nice lens to look at from the outside.
These are so unique. I really like looking at the world through these lenses. They are so different. The only drawback is finding things to match with these lenses. But who cares right!
Not a bad shade of green, especially when compared to some other super-bright green mirrors you see on other brands. The color fades to a yellowish tint at the edges of the lens. The base tint is blue-grey, which seems to almost decrease contrast, casting a bluish haze over everything. Not my favorite lens to look through, but it's relatively rare compared to other lens options, so good to have in the collection.
Great lens for the Oakley collection. Something different instead of the grey or yellow-baed hues to view from. The emerald iridium is a great lens, largely understated in that it's not so bright as the fire, ruby, or even gold can be.
I like this lens because it brings out the blue hues in everything. Take a look at the sky when it's clear(obviously) and then you'll see a blue sky. As for the green, I like the 2nd gen Emerald better than the first.
Looks extremely cool on the outside but not as cool to look through.
When I first saw this lens i was hoping it would make everything look green but alas its grey.
WHY?
Ruby Iridium usually gets all the attention, but Emerald Iridium are equally nice. just like the Rubies, the Iridium coating changes colour at different angles, ranging from yellow, green, to something really dark. everything stays neutral with these lenses, and colours stay true, and are not overly dark like the Black Iridium can sometimes be. they're not a loud and flashy as the Ruby, but has just enough character and edge. an all around classy lens.
Beautiful lens. I'm usually not a fan of green, but this is more a pale green to dark. You'd really have to see this in person to make a judgment on it, don't rely on the horrible pictures Oakley has on their websites. It's very different from most sunglass lenses I've ever seen, which makes it unique, which makes it very cool.
This is a very classy lens. It almost looks black from a distance, but has just enough color to set it apart. The lens shading and characteristics are similar to the Black Iridium, and the coating is really just for looks.
