I have a well-off Vietnamese friend who once walked into a Lexus dealership intending to buy a Lexus. Salespeople snubbed at him, presuming he couldn't afford it. This friend of mine got so pissed off, he immediately went to his bank, withdrew $50,000 in cold hard cash, brought it back to that Lexus dealership, and yelled at them: "I have all this ready cash ready to buy a car, but I'm going somewhere else!" I think he eventually bought a Benz with that money.
Moral of the story: Looks can be deceiving. Never judge a book by its cover, or a person by how he dresses. (Oakleys excepted?)
Funny thing with that story...I used to sell cars about 16 years ago...We had a salesman on the lot who was a prick...Had some kid approach him on the lot, mind you he was under 18, but he treated this kid like total crap...Another friend of mine talked to him and just let him know up front we couldn't talk terms or credit due to him being a minor, but straight purchase wasn't an issue. Turns out the kid was the grandson of a the owner to a large competing dealer (same brand) and knew in advance we had the car he wanted...He came back with his grandpa and paid full sticker cash money for the vehicle...My friend made like $2000 on that car alone just for treating him like a real person...You just never know.

Hey Jbig, whassap?
Josh, glad you shared that story. Dicrimination comes in all shapes and sizes, sometimes called for, sometimes not. Not only race, but also age, as in your friend's case. Saw a news report some time ago. In China today, there're a lot of young punks running around buying Lambo's and Porsche's with cold card cash. And not just once a year. Reason? They have wealthy parents who evaded tax and so have plenty of ready cash that can't go on record, say, in a bank or such. Not saying one should always bow to the mighty dollar, but you run a business, so you really know what bottomline means.
Follow-up story: many years ago, my friend in S'pore was working in investment sales at a bank. In walked an elderly man draped in rags almost. Well, my friend treated him as a person (as you put it), and he ended up opening an investment account with the equivalent of I think 1/2 a million USD!!! T'was an Indonesian Chinese businessman, if I recall correctly. Go figure.

Nice haul Nik...We can't own them here in this a$$hole run state of California!! Bastards let criminals run around wreaking havoc, yet us law abiding citizens can't hardly protect ourselves or have to jump through too many hoops to try...Very nice piece...Always found the Judge to be just about right for getting the "point across" when the situation should arise LOL...

well the bmw i bought 3 weeks ago, just didnt float my boat at all, so even though the hassle involved with re-selling it, ive decided to put it up for sale to try and recoup my outlay and maybe make a little on the top......and today i went back to my likes and went japanese and bought a toyota celica 1.8 vvti, will all the spoilers and skirts, alloy wheels, and leather/sports pack inside.

its a 2001 in mint condition with only 60000 miles on the clock, i previous lady driver and its only covered 2000 miles in the last 2 years.

a good wash, polish and internal clean and it will be concourse condition.

When my wife and I went on our first date, we rode in one of these Celicas, a green one, w/o the fancy chrome wheels and such. Personally, I still miss the 350Z we had back in 2005-07.
