Hey, anyone remember the first time they ever saw Shoe One? I was in the 7th grade (I am now a junior in college), I had sent my Black/Black Iridium Eye Jackets in to get the earstem repaired. When I got them back Oakley had left an advertisement for their first ever venture into the footwear industry, I was blown away. I knew I had to get a pair, but sadly, being only twelve, I couldn’t afford, or talk my parents into buying me a pair. So I did what anyone does when they cannot afford something, I kept the advertisement in my desk drawer so I could look at it over and over. Anyway, to make a long story short, I kept the advertisement to this day, and every time I look at it, I still think Shoe One looks more bad ass than anything Nike has ever made

They appear every now and then on ebay Ben....You should snag yourself a pair. I picked up a Brand new p[air of Size 9 a few months back and the Irony is I'm a size 12.

I really want to find a pair that I can actually wear. I also wear a size twelve in US sizing, but I bought a pair of goldenrod flesh (the first day they showed up on Oakley.com in fact) in size 11, and they fit just like a twelve would in Ascics. Should I go for an 11 if I ever do find a pair?

EDIT: hey what do you know, there is actually a size 11 on ebay as we speak

I remember the ads well and I still have the box from my Shoe One, but not the actual shoes. I wore them so much that I actually got the shoes to a point where I let them go and (dare I say it) threw them out, believe it or not?! ARRGGHHH!!

I really loved all of the ads and images, especially the foot print on the moon and the little animation they had on the site using that.

Thanks for sharing Ben!

I wanted to buy that Type O poster Phil, but never did and before I knew it - it was gone. It seemed like that one didn't last very long.

The really nice thing about the contest prize is that the shoe will be given to the winner at any size. I see a lot of members bidding/winning item on ebaY that is not their size.

Not to mention they will be a personal gift from the Man himself, Jim Jannard, how many people can say they own a pair of O Shoes that were a personal gift from JJ?

Seriosly, that would be amazing.

Im wondering something, how do Oakley shoes fit? Do they run exactly to their size or do they tend to be a bit smaller/tighter/looser/ect...? Thanks.

depends on the shoe. with my experience, my SI Boots fit a half size smaller than normal... so does my Thirteen Twenty (which i should've went for a half size bigger). my old Bottlecap Flesh fits a half size bigger than normal. most everything else i own (Casing boots, SILK Laceless, Crank) fits normal.

I wear a 13 in the sandals, Bob clog, and Nail. 13.5 in the SI Boot/Shoe. 14 in everything else.

I just can't believe what happens on this site when I have to go away for a few days?!?!

My wife and I are off having our first child since Saturday and today has been the first time I have had a chance to log in.

I just simply can't believe how very cool it is to have Jim not only join the site, observe a bit, but to take the opportunity to post a bit of thanks and offer up such a fantastic collectible ... this is just amazing.

Thanks for your time and kind words Jim! Sorry I missed the flurry of admiration sent your way over the past days, but I can certainly say my own awe and admiration is just as great.

But whoever win these Shoe Ones - even if you get them in your proper size - are you really going to wear them out? I wouldn't even try them on - straight to the display!

I was thinking the same thing Ford, especially since Jim is going to sign them. Hypothetically speaking, if I won them, they would immediately be locked in their own display cube under a fluorescent light in the center of my collection

I would definitely wear them but not outside. I'd want to keep them pristine but at the same time I wouldn't want to deny them their only purpose for being made in the first place.

Hey Paul, congrats on the new baby.

And anyways, when are we going to find out about the contest?

Call me crazy, but I'd wear them until they're completely worn out. *Shrug*

I just looked back at JJ's post, he actually said he would sign the box rather than the shoes, AND include something special from his personal collection, that means I would deffinitly wear them since I wouldnt have to worry about the signature wearing off

thats what i did with my cranks... i bought both of the pairs in the store, One for wearing and one for display/collectors value...

I concur that Dann should automatically win the shoes for his formation of this home for the oakley addicted.

though im in for any future contests if Dann declines.

As much as I think Dann is an absolute star for putting so much of his own time and effort into the site and all that surrounds it, Jim himself said that it's gotta be a fair contest that all can enter. And to that end, I believe the mods are currently working on the format.

Imagine wearing the shoe & walking into an O-store and saying to the sales personnel

"This was a personal gift from Oakley CEO"
