So I had this idea for a while since I had seen those pics on a japanese website, there is mine:

Clear MD/Ti clear lens

Step 1. Take a whyskey MD, and remove those bronze lens.

Step 2. Soak them in warm water, I took my bath with them too.

Step 3. Use your fingernail and a toothbrush to remove the paint, watch half a box set of Futurama doing so.

Step 4. Keep holdind the MD in the light and also on a white
background to help spot the spots you have missed.

Step 5. Put some nice Titanium clear lens in that frame et voila !

I got some other customs int the work, cant wait to do them.

I love the look of those, I was afraid that when put on, they would look cheap, but not at all, very happy with the result, going tonight in a little bar with them.

Will try to get better pics tommorow.

Looks awesome Eric. I don't think I'd ever think of doing something like that. Also, I bet Black or Grey lenses would look good in there. Again, awesome look.

That is so sweet. Is there any way to get some ice lenses in them? That would be so cool.

You know I though about doing this when I read phils posts about his whiskey Mdogs chipping. My project was to do a clear mdog with ruby lenses and red icons from a pair of Ducatis.

Wow really cool idea I am jealous. Ice iridium is not a problem just take heater m-frame lens to your optician.

Eric, nice work on those Dogs!

Yes, this does belong in the Projects section.

And yes, Bill (zev5740) scraped the Whiskey paint off of a Fatcat some time ago. I then purchased that pair from him and swapped the lenses and icons from a Matte Black/Grey pair. Too bad they don't make Ti Clear Fatcat lenses... that would have been my first choice!

Excellent job. I just went over my check list: extra Whiskey Dog, Futurama sets, warm water, all check. I would love to do this but first I have two other projects. It looks great though.

Yeah Bill and Eddy helped me out with some details but it was some pics on a japanese site that made me want them.

And when I started seeing members whyskey peeling off, the idea was born, been thinking about it since last summer.

Been asked a couple of questions about these so:

1. When brushing off the paint, take off the arms, dont worry they will fit right back.

2. The hardest place to remove the paint, is where the lens sit, if you dont remove the paint there, there will be a caramel reflection on the outside.

3. By the way, theres a black brown fade MD and a whiskey one, the whiskey has a silver Icon and the other one a gold Icon. I dont think it can be made with the Brown fade one.

Good luck to the ones that wanted to start something similar.

I'd say it can be done with the Brown Fade; the finish on mine started coming off after less than a month :(

What do you use to brush off the paint?

A toothbrush Edwin, I started at first with my nail, but way too long process, its a combination of toothbrush/nail.

The reason why the paint is that easy to remove I think is that there was not clear coating on the frame after they put the paint.

Nice project Edwin, well you have the choice of grey, black polarized, bronze, gold iridium or grey.

Since you have to take into consideration the gold stretch logo, I would try to have make clear blank lens (non Oakley) it would not be that expensive I think.
