Did no one see the Simpons Movie? I expected comments after opening weekend. I made it there Wednesday night and was very impressed by it. A few gimmicks. A good amount of laugh out loud funny parts. Fair play for all minor-major Springfieldians. They did a good job playing off the families strengths and weaknesses. Time to end the show on Fox and concenrate on one or two more of these.

It was a decent movie. For me, there wasn't anything to laugh out loud about, but there were plenty of moments that made you chuckle. Overall, a solid first try at it. Definitely looking forward to see what else they can come up with.

I saw a lot of movies in the last week... just a subsumption:

Simpsons - 9/10 very nice flick but I missed something... global *lol.

Spiderman 3 - 2/10 Well, that was rubbish. They couldn't decide if they want a straight comic style movie or a realistic one. And that friendship cretinism fight, friends again, fight, friends again.... bla bla bla

Next 8/10 I've read pretty bad reviews about this movie but what can I say - I really liked it. Nicolas Cage was good as usual and the story and esp. the end is pretty nice.

Just saw Sicko by Michael Moore, a VERY powerful film I tought, raises a lot of questions I think, a very well executed movie, try to see it, really worth it.
Agreed, in a similar vein is the zeitgeist movie. Great for the conspiracy theorists. Some very interesting points though

Saw 2001 Maniacs a few days ago with Robert Englund in it ( Nightmares on Elm Street)

Pretty cool flick, similar to Rob Zombie's own movies.

You probably would like Dann.

Yeah, 2001 Maniacs is a pretty funny movie. I thought the sub title was "The south rises again"?
I saw Postal yesterday... crazy movie. Anarchy. A pretty close movie adaption of the game.

I didn't care much for it. 'The South Will Rise' song at the end was cool though.

Yeah, they've been working on that for a while. Hollywood's new thing is bringing back old heroes. Indiana Jones in the pipeline, and at one point they actually were throwing out ideas of bringing Connery back as Bond, despite his age and his shape. But that was just after Brosnan and pre-Craig.

I'd have to agree that Sly is too old to enter the ring, but Rocky Balboa was a brilliant movie overall, despite Stallone's age - a timeless classic and very inspirational IMO. No matter what you have to admit the man has guts to even consider doing another Rocky movie with all the flak he'd receive from critics.

Got to see the newest trailer to the upcoming Batman movie, "The Dark Knight". Finally we'll see Joker on the big screen like he's meant to be. I recommend checking it out. It's quite impressive.

Trailer for Watchmen, probably one of the more highly anticipated releases based on a Graphic Novel (hope the trailer doesn't get pulled):

Edit: Apparently they did pull it.

Just got back from seeing the new STAR TREK movie.

I had a lot hesitation about this movie when i first heard they were going back to how Kirk and Spock first met.
Well all that disappeared when i first saw the trailer, and after now seeing the full movie i have to say they have done the franchise justice.

It is the perfect updating of a classic, i won't spoil the plot other than to say it's not what you would expect.

Go see and enjoy!

Yeah me and Mike were at the same preview screening. There's only about 650 people here in Perth anyway, haha!

To give it another angle, I am in NO WAY a Star Trek fan, neither was my mate who came along, and we both loved the film. Throughly enjoyable even to a non-Trekkie, good parts of humour and action. (Although there were throwaway lines that got appreciative laughs from sections of the crowd and I felt left out). JJ Abrams rules.

You know, I'm the furthest thing from a Star Trek fan myself. But I have been contemplating seeing this flick. It does look quite good. Thanks for the recommendation, guys!

The new Star Trek is a "must see" for this summer's releases. May's gonna be crazy with the blockbusters...Wolverine, Star Trek, Terminator, and Up.

Just got a chance to see the new Star Trek movie to see what all the hype is about. Yep, it's as good as everyone says it is. Not as funny as everyone says it is, but it had a good plot. Great sound and visuals as well.

Saw Star Trek in IMAX. I've always been a Trek hater until I saw the preview for this. I probably won't run out and buy the collector's blurays of the old ones, but this one is fantastic and that bluray will make its way into my collection.

Also saw Angels and Demons this weekend. I will say it is better than DaVinci Code was. But the trailer for Transformers 2 made me really wish that was what I was seeing instead.

Star Trek is like the prequel Star Wars series...Awesome movies, great effects, but HORRIBLE for a prequel. How can you go from 70's tech movie cinematography to 21st century HD and expect us to follow as if this was a prequel??

Great movie though. Really wish I would have gone to Imax in the real Imax big screen to see it...Transformers 2 will certainly be seen there...

It's not supposed to be a prequel , really. It's supposed to be a relaunch/re-imagining of the franchise.

Kind of like the first Bond movie with Daniel Craig (Casino Royale, I think was the title). It's not supposed to totally fit the timeline, it's supposed to be a total reboot, so you have some of the same things, but it can all be new.

(And no, I'm not a Star Trek fan, but I did like this movie.)

I have to chime in on Star Trek. It was absolutely everything they make it out to be. I am in no means a fan of Star Trek. In fact, I tend to find it dull and boring. But this movie was just fantastic. Everyone I know who's seen it says the same thing. And none of them are Trekkies either.

Add to that the DVD and Blu-ray release of Taken. The premise is pretty basic, but the movie is very well written, Liam does an awesome job in the lead role and the action and suspense is placed perfectly. My expectations were exceeded.
Without giving anything away, I would like to say that my favorite scene was dinner with Jean-Claude.
