Silver, Chrome Mirror polarized (Fuze).
Pewter (Rx), VR28 black iridium.
Ti Pewter (Rx), Emerald iridium.
Ti Matte Black (Rx), Light + Red iridium.
As you can see, I love these Wiretaps. The Pewter/VR28 is my go-to pair more often than all my other wires. The unique shape of the orbitals grabs attention, and the light and shapely frames are a joy to wear.
Yes, the lenses are small, but it takes only short experience to realize that you really don't need more for anything but sport.
Even if you "can't" wear them, they are an icon for Oakley, and deserve a prominent spot in your display!
I tried on a pair of Wiretaps at a store, and as cool as they looked on the web, they just look plain silly on me. They are apparently meant for bigger heads, and if you don't have one, your eyes end up looking really far apart.
Frame: pewter
Lens: +red iridium
If I had to choose two only pairs of sunglasses among the rest of my collection, the one would definitely be wiretap, even though I own many models from all the series of oakley.Whether it's the great fit,the unique design,or this unbelievable pewter/+red iridium combo, the fact is that wiretap is a model that will hardly be produced again. Why?Because it belonged to an era that all classic oakley designs derived from.I was searching for quite many months until I finally found them, and to be honest I had lost hope, since they had been discotinued for over than four years, but I was lucky enough it seems. What I like the most is the aggresive lines of the frame, specially around the orbitals.Actually,in my opinion, the valves look like an o-matter edition of the wiretap. And since mine belong probably to a second generation, where the earstems, are not as thick as the first ones released were,it's something that complies more with the fine, thin aesthetics of the whole outcome. As for the lens, what can I say? It's amazing how can the +red lens adopts itself with all kinds of environment. From overcast,to very bright days.Sure the lenses are small, but up to now,I have never felt that my eyes weren't protected enough.Five skulls is just not enough for them!!!
Frame: Cobalt/Pewter
Lens: RX Prescription Transistions/ +Red
One of my Favorite RX Frames by Oakley. Looks Great & Stunning awesome. Oakleys are simply the best.
Frame: Pewter
Lens: +red Iridium
I love the aggressive look of these, the earstems are really well designed flashing the O at a cool angle, I've said it before that + red works with anything but the lens shape really catches the colour really well and helps make the best of the colour, they're really comfy too and surprisingly light
Frame: Cobalt
Lens: Ice Iridium
I had a pair of these more than a few years ago. My wife got them for me for X-mas...One of the coolest pair of Oakleys ever, in my opinon. I lost the glasses after a couple of years. I desperately wanted to replace them but I could not recall the model name. Thanks to finding this website, I found the name and I just picked up a new pair off Ebay. The fit is nearly perfect for me. I have a bit of a smallish face for a guy ( I wouldnt say a big face by any means) but these glasses still look great on me, in my opinion and from what I've been told many times, and the feel is great as well. Love em!!

Lens: +Red Iridium
With a unique name like "Wiretap" most people would expect an exceptional pair of shades. It may be argued that the shades are exceptional, but after trying them on several times only to realize that the small lens shape and "unique" design translated into "complete lack of coverage", I couldn't help but wonder why they were ever produced. Aesthetically, they command attention due to their unique design (both lens and frame). Functionally, however, they simply fail due to their lack of coverage. While the +Red lens is a beautiful hue, it does little to negate the fact that the glasses still offer inadequate coverage, not to mention have no spring hinges.
Frame: Pewter
Lens: +Red Iridium
As I have a quite big head, they are really small on my face. But they still fit me well enough to be comfortable. The angular shape of the lens and the frame give them an agressiv look and with that color combo they look really really bad (meaning good ^_^)!
Frame: Cobalt Blue
Lens: Black
I actually bought 3 pairs of these, off E-bay, in a matter of minutes. Out of the 3, these were the only ones that looked good on me. The other pairs appeared too small for my big head.
Overall, these are a bit snug of a fit, but the style and feel over ride that feeling for me. As I've worn them...they've loosened up enough that they've become a favorite of mine.
Frame: Silver
Lens: Fire
First pair of Oakleys I bought. The frame fits perfectly well on my face, and the Fire lenses also blend pretty well with my hair and skin. I love them so much. I dropped them and got a big scratch on the right lens, so I bought a polarized Spike. Waiting to get older to make them prescription. Great glasses, so happy with them.
Frame: pewter
Lens: +red
this is an intereting model, because of it's wide frame, and its sleek lensform, only few people can pull it off wearing them, mostly bigger faces. it takes some adjustment to get them to wear comfortably, but once it's set to your face, it feels solid and grippy.the +red lens is really cool to look at, and to look through. gives a blue-ish view to the world. all in all a specific pair for specific faces
Frame: Silver
Lens: Fire Iridium
Second pair-- after someone stole my incredible E-wires. They fit me pretty well. Sometimes I feel like I look ridiculous, but the lenses and the frame is great. Or was great until they fell off my head and bent so that the lens doesn't quite fit in. I'm working on that one.
Frame: Pewter
Lens:+Red Iridium
After reading the reviews about this pair I was hesitant on getting it but looks like i could pull it off.
I purchased this mainly because of the lens and looks really sharp on the outside but not so much looking through.
Just like Bong I also have the Red Icons on the frames. The overall look is quite aggressive with the ultimate frowning look (you dont see that too much on wires).Wires are not exactly my favorite but for me this is an exception.
Frame: Silver
Lens: Ice
This is one of my favorites, I wear it 70% of the time. It fits my head really well, I've had it for almost 3 years now and the "O" on the sides are kinda getting worn from constant use and accidental dropping. I've already bent the stem one time and had to unbend it, looks just like the way it was. I agree with others that it is picky on head sizes and shapes but I'm so glad it works for me!
Frame: Silver
Lens: Ice
I have a really big oval head so when I put these on it looked really funny. I thought that they were just too small for me, like they would disappear on my face. I had to pass. Maybe they'll work better on smaller faces.
Frame: Cobalt
Lens: Black Iridium
First ever pair of oakleys, they were nice. loved them, then after the initial shock of having oakleys died down, realized that they really weren't sitting very well. They then got relegated to display duty. but toherwise would be a great pair of shades.
Frame:Cobalt
Lens:Black Iridium
I love this frame - it fits large heads like mine perfectly. They are distincly Oakley but different at the same time. I went in to a store with the intend to buy a wire and came out with the Wiretap it fit and looked better than all the others - love at first sight i guess. The frame and lens colors are not up to snup with the Square Wires though, which is a shame.
Frame: pewter
Lens: + red
Frame: cobalt
Lens: black iridium
i don't know, they don't look that hot one me but i like the frame shapes the ear stems are very scupltural and cool dispite the lens shape
Frame: Pewter
Lens: +Red
Very weird sunglass. They just look rubbish. I think personally the problem is that the nose bridge is too small for me, so they sit really really high. Having said that, though they probably don't suit most faces, I've seen them being pulled off sucessfully a couple of times.
Frame: Pewter
Lens: +Red Iridium
i'm not sure which generation of Wiretap i have, but mine came with red metal icons on the hinge/earstem area, which is nice because it matches the +Red Iridium lenses. however, that means i cannot modify it with other lens colours though. these tend to have a better fit for people with larger heads (such as myself), but for me the nosepads are spaced too far apart to be comfortable. i needed to adjust them closer together but that means the risk of breaking the nosepad wire connection from the frames. also, the lenses would creak in the frames everytime i put them on or off, but the lenses never popped out though. the design itself is very nice, i love the sculpted earstem/hinge area, and the overall design is very aggressive.
Frame: Pewter
Lens: +Red
I love the +Red lenses, and had to get this colour after my Juliets. As a pair of glasses, the Juliet is a better set, but the wiretaps are much more lightweight (but I am not sure how much abuse these will take so they are reserved as a going out pair only), and hinges are not as tight/secure as I would like.
However, they are a great pair of glasses, a real headturner without being offensive.
Frame:Pewter
Lens:+Red Iridium
I bought some of these for my Girlfriend, and she loves them.
A very nice unisex sunglass nevertheless.
A big improvement over her old Square wires in comfort and fit.
Optics are as usual superb, with a wide range of colour combinations, make these sunglasses hard to ignore.
Frame: cobalt
Lens: black iridium
bought them at mall of america...nice pair of shades but i really prefer x metals...bought this for everyday wear...i agree the o icon and the false hammer stems are nice
Frame: Pewter
Lens: +Red
This was actually the first wire I had really embraced and wore often. It was different all around from their other styles. I loved the little "O" and the false Hammer wing. Yes, they may have looked silly but they seemed to fit a round face that likes square lenses more than ovals. Sorry to disagree with you two but they were a nice addition for as long as I wore them.
Frame: Cobalt
Lens: Black Iridium
Same as Dann's experience, I was planning on buying them, then tried them on and hated them. Made it look like my eyes were near my ears. Which they're not.
Frame: Silver
Lens: Fire Irdium
Pros:
Incrediable Optics, Good sized orbiters for large sight coverage
Cons:
Weak frame, lousy nosebombs found on cheap reading glasses
Sum: looks kill don't they, it's why i bought them, but they lasted a whole 3 days before they were abliterated, which a week later I bought Splice (possiably my all time fave pair) and after a couple years i ran them over accidently with my car, expensive mistake
