Frame: Black Chrome
Lens: Ice

A simple, yet aesthetically pleasing design that flows seamlessly from the brow to the earstems makes this a forerunner in Oakley's revolutionary design language. The lenses provide adequate coverage for medium or even larger profiles, and the ice iridium offers excellent protection for brighter conditions. An FMJ of Black Chrome compliments the blue hues of the ice iridium, further enhancing visual appeal. While the New Straight Jackets incorporate unobtainium earsocks, they lack unobtainium nosepieces which would have added additional comfort and support from slippage.

It's Dec. 2012, and I have owned these Oakley sunglasses for more than 12 years. They are great for casual wear and attending outdoor sporting events, but they are too loose on my head for active playing of sports, even golf. They are still one of my favorite pair of sunglasses.

Evolution is a great thing, and Oakley does it so well. These were just the right amount smaller then the original Straight Jacket for smaller faces to try them out as well. They found some curves and rounded out the ear stems and orbitals. The Hot Rod flames were, well Hot. Better looking on the Gunmetal and Black frame though. I just didn't like the older FMJ styles like Polished Aluminum, FMJ+ (5.56 and 7.62 and all the shiny bright ones). A great style if you can still find it.

Frame: Blood
Lens: VR50

I really like using this pair for everyday use. The blood frame is a very nice and bold looking color. It looks pretty good combined with the VR50 lens. In general, this pair is very light weight and eye coverage is excellent. If I could change anything about this I would put a +red lens in it.

I just got my third pair of these. The first ones were Scotty Cannons I got new in 2000, still my favorite pair, wear them all the time, I also have a polished aluminum pair and the electric blues I just bought on ebay. The only suckish part is there are no replacement parts available so Ive had to go with aftermarket lenses for style switching and replacing the lenses on my red ones after the fourth pair of Oakley lenses finally go too bad. I would really like to find a pair of the black chromes to complete the set.

Agh!!! I had a pair of these years ago, but lost them in a bar fight. I'm so gutted! Does anyone know if ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD still sells them? I'm desperate to get another pair.

Frame: Silver
Lens: Ice iridium

One of the last, just before the line was discontinued, this straight jacket is one of the best overall. The silver frame, bonds perfectly with the bright ice lens, and the whole outcome glows stronly whereever. But what I like the most is that the frame and lens really become one,the straight jacket is such a homogenic design.Although the silver color isn't a coating like in the valve, and it's rather a darker silver tint, the outcome is still amazing.Fitwise they are quite satisfying, but I would really appreciate some nosebombs, since sometimes, with the movements of the head you may find yourself having them raised up to your eyebrows, whereas the half jackets just stick to the face and they just can't let go.Still the straight jacket, and specially this specific pair is a design that will never be gotten over and will always impress no matter how newer oakleys will look like.

Frame: Brown Tortoise
Lens: Gold Iridium

I simply cannot BELIEVE I found my rare, vintage, Straight Jacket 1.0 at a Thrift Store...for $2.00!!! I have been looking for a polarized pair of mountain/road bike glasses, but could not stomach the $200+ prices of new Giro, Oakley, Rudy Project and Swiss-made Assos shades.

The blue-blocking and anti glare capabilities of these shades mellows the intense rays the sun gives off, quite well. The Unobtanium rubber actually increases grip, under perspiration, or when exposed to moisture.

These Oakleys are KEEPERS!

Frame: Silver
Lens: Ice iridium

That's a very rare straight jacket.I think they were the last colorways released before oakley discontinued them,so it's a really special pair. The metallic silver finish, although it's just o matter and not fmj,or any other coating that oakley uses,is kinda dark when you look at it closely, but in the bright sunlight,it really shines and sparkles up to the point that you can't really tell whether it's silver, white,or polished.Fits very well with the ice lens.My complaint with the new straight jackets has always been that they had no unobtainium nosebombs, something unthinkable for a jacket.Plus, the earstems are getting thinner and thinner close to their tips,so if there isn't any extra grip from the nosebombs, the wrap feels somewhat loose, unlike the fmj models which are tight as a wrench. However the straight jacket is so legendary, that no such handicap can make me not like to them. With such a design, and such a coverage for my wide face, they're totally worth each and every one of the five sculls.

Frame: Polished Aluminum
Lens: Fire Iridium

Where the eye jacket started, the straight jacket took it further. The fit on these is dead on. Great name for the glasses because the wrapped the eyes like a straight jacket. Polished aluminum with fire iridium screamed "look at me". This is another pair I've sent to the retirement home as the frame and lenses have peeled off.

Frame: polished aluminum/fmj 5.56 w/blue flames
Lens: black iridium/ice iridium

Straight jacket must have been the first or second pair of oakley that I saw prior to getting to know the company and starting wearing the glasses. The straight jackets are the legendary definition of the jacket notion. They have the absolute fit around the head, with unobtainium on the earstems, while the lack of nosebombs, doesn't seem to affect the overall grip.At least not on my head. The fit really surprised me,given that it is an o-matter model. The earstems have a very round shape, unique for an o-matter pair, which hugs the head entirely whithout the single sign of slack, and I could only think of the valves as their rivals in terms of how they fit on the head. The coverage is another great feature of the straight jackets, since I believe that the lenses of theirs are the biggest among the entire oakley range, and only the x metal xx cant be compared to them from what I can think of right now.Finnaly, the overall design is both gentle and aggressive, since it adopts classical lines that come from 2 or 3 decades back, with more squared lenses than, say, the minutes, along with an aesthetic, all oakley, that you can witness for example on the sculpted clearances around the lenses, the thick-on of a kind- nosebridge, and of course, the sleek, smooth line of the earstems, that literally flow out of the orbitals.I'm privileget to own two of the most distinguished color combos, with polished aluminum and fmj 5.56 frames, and black and ice idium lenses respectively. If I could,I would buy the whole series of straight jackets, but unfortunately they discontinued them. For the straight jackets words are just never enoughThanks oakley!!!But,please, somebody remind me why did they discontinue them?

Frame: FMJ Red
Lens: Black Iridium

These glasses are captivating. I fell in love with the FMJ Red when I first saw it. These were my first pair that were a duplicate frame, but different color. I'd give these a 5, but after wearing them, the FMJ coating started to flake off. I was lucky enough to find another pair at a Vault, picked them up, and haven't really worn them since, for fear of destroying them again.

Frame: Dark Blue
Lens: Black Iridium

Wonderful glasses. The only reasons I don't wear these every day are that I can't find another pair, and I've grown to be such a Polarized snob.
OAKLEY RAIDER -
Frame: Black
Lens: Grey

This was the one that started it all. My very first pair. It covers the face & lets very little exposed. The protection is great. The only issue w/ this is that when the lens starts popping out. You pretty much need a new frame. I've had to switch it out a couple times for that reason, but has been great. I can honestly say I don't regret purchasing this model. Especially, becuase it opened the door that lead me to much more product that I love.

Frame: Carbon Fiber

These are the 2nd best fitting shades that I've found (1st being the Juliet). I love the Carbon Fiber print frame, and they fot like they were molded to my goofy head. 5 SKULLS!

Frame: Ducati Grey
Lens: Ducati
I bought these mainly because I'm a big Ducati guy. I figured, if nothing else, they'll look good on the shelf. I bought them site unseen, poor picture and all.

I love the fit and style now. They're sporty, attractive, and hell...the lense even says Ducati!

My only complaint is the paint on the O emblems...it's horrible. It's bubbling and peeling.

Frame: Blood Skull
Lens: Black Iridium

The Blood Skull really adds more uniqueness to this frame. Its a classic Oakley frame with a nice detail of the Oakley skull. The frame itself is very light weight and the eye coverage is excellent.

Frame: Stealth
Lens: Grey

This was what the local Oakley Customer Service replaced my 7.62 FMJ straight jackets with after the metalic coating started to peel and believe me, I was disappointed. The frame was no where as cool as the 7.62s. jus a matte grey fram, nothing to shout about. Made my oakleys look like dime store shades. didn't help that i had grey lenses. it ended up as my rouhg & tough pair. Beach volleyball cycling etc put it to the test. Eventually the frame cracked and i never bothered to get it replaced.

Frame: electric blue
Lens: ice iridium polarized

The flashiest jacket I own. Unfortunately some bastard stole it when i left it unattended for jus a couple of minutes. and i was among a group of people who were all teachers. Imagine that! Damn! I have only fond memeories of this pair.Amazing blue frame looked so super cool! My fav color. The lenses were pretty cool too. Made any summy day look dimmer and seemed to jus cool me down. good coverage and field of vision though not as good as my zeros amd spikes. would probably look a little dated today.

Frame: darkchrome
Lens: ice

this framecolour is more flashy, certainly with the ice lenses, it is one piece of eyewear that cannot be worn unnoticed.
the unobtainium earsocks keep the frame sticked to your head, and the framecurve is also really good. Compare however to my FMJ+ frame, this one is a lot less curved. all in all a good piece of eyewear for every day use.

Frame: FMJ+ red flames
Lens: fire iridium

this classic model has a serious curvage in the frame , it wraps the head real tight, so when sporting , you don't loose the glasses. colour of the frame is a little darker that on the pic, the colour of the FLAMES are also a little less bright, but nevertheless, it is one seriously good looking piece of eyewear
Dann -
Frame: FMJ Blue Flame
Lens: Ice

A nice pair for casual wearing. It serves its purpose well as a finctional pair of glasses. The unobtainium holds the glasses on well and the coverage is adequate. Ranks as one of the best everyday pairs along with the XX and Minute.

Frame: Orange Flame test run
Lens: Fire

I was able to pick up this piece that was used to test the market for flame print Straight Jackets. The flame is hand painted onto the frame and a supposed 15 pair were made for the Irvine O Store. The paint isn't perfect, but that lends to the test quality even more.

Frame: blue flame
Lens: ice iridium
I really like the style but the lack of unobtanium made them slide too much for me and I ended up dropping them a few times because they just slid off my head. Wish I still had them though, really nice looknig pair of glasses.
LEX7 -
Frame:FMJ+ Blue Flames
Lens:Ice Iridium

Not the best in the flame group of SJs but i forgot how cool these were til i recentley got them.
the blue flames look amazing and match the Ice lens perfectly for a totally badass combo.
dan-E -
Frame: FMJ 5.56
Lens: Ice Iridium

These are one of the more straightforward designs so I never really paid much attention to these. However, being drawn to shiny objects the FMJ frames with the fire looked pretty cool so I went ahead and tried them on. It's quite the good frame for all-purpose wear and while the shape is nothing special, it's quite comfortable. A good, solid workhorse-type frame.
Ed -
Frame: Blood
Lens: VR50

Much more sleek than the original Straight Jackets, and better suited to smaller faces. The nosebridge is a bit wide if you have a small nose, but they fit ok overall. These have a classic, streamlined shape that is somewhat understated, but the wide range of colors available allows you to tune how "wild" you want to be.

The Blood frame is a beautiful deep metallic red that really shines under bright sunlight. It goes quite well with the red-brown VR50 lenses, which are suitable for all but the brightest conditions.

Frame: Gunmetal/Orange Flames
Lens: Fire
Very, very nice, good fitting, lightweight sunglasses with a clean, simple style. If I had only one complaint it would be thjat they just don't sit right on top of my head also the Unobtainium socks are so thin

Frame: Jet Black Flames
Lens: Emerald Iridium

i found these to be a tad too large for me but i love the green flames with the emerald lenses.

forgot to rate these. i give them 4 stars

Frame: Polished Aluminum

This is my first pair of Straight Jackets and I wasn't disappointed. Awesome color combination. Great fit and design.
DisturbedEarth -
Frame: FMJ + Orange Flames
Lens: Fire Irridium

These are very cool looking - not my favorite pair to wear but I do like them when I wear them....I guess they apeal to the "gearhead" in me....well worth the price!
sparra -
Frame: FMJ 5.56
Lens: Ice Iridium

Once thought about buying Straight Jackets as an alternative to XX. Undoubtedly very cool glasses, especially if you have a larger nose bridge, they should fit nicely. However, I prefered the slightly thinner and more detailed styling on XX. However, they live up to their name - the style is simple and cool.
oogie -
Frame: Flames
Lens: Fire pol.

These are an improvement on the originals ... well, at least an "update" to the originals. The new straight jackets bring a sleeker look and style that will fit a greater variety of faces. Personally, I'm a bit sad in my new pair here, the curvature of the frame is a bit larger than normal, so it fits a bit looser than it should.
x-metalman -
Frame: Polished Aluminum
Lens: Fire Iridium, Black Iridium
I've owned 2 pairs of these. These are great if you want classic Oakley style without all the expensive bells and whistles of some the other styles. These fit great and the color combos can't be beat. All around great glasses.
LEX7 -
Frame:Electric Blue
Lens:Ice Iridium Polarized

I bought these cos I really wanted an the Ice Iridium Polarized lens.
but I find that when this frame and this lens are put together its just a blue overload. So i hardly every wear them.
Dont get me wrong them are both great, but together just too much which is why im gonna switch around these lenses with my Grey polarized lenses from my Carbon Fibre Frame.
I think once the switch is done the Metalic blue frame will look alot better.
LEX7 -
Frame:Cannon Red
Lens:Fire Iridium

Again a great colour combo on this pair. the very shiny NON metalic Cannon Red frame goes perfectly with the bright Fire lens. This is the most brilliant red you will ever see on a pair of glasses. I highly recomend getting a pair if you can find them.

I had been wanting these for ages and had alot of trouble finding them cos they were discontinued but luckily I found a pair on ebay and they are a great addition to my collection.
LEX7 -
Frame:Black Chrome
Lens:Ice Iridium

Great combo from oakley on this pair of straight jackets.
The very nice metalic browny/bronze colour of the frame and the deep blue of the ICE lens.
these frames look amazing when the sun hits them.
LEX7 -
Frame:Carbon Fiber
Lens:Grey Polarized

Just got these and they look amazing. The Carbon Fiber is one of the best frames ive seen.
Im a little disapointed about the fact that they came with Grey Polarized, even though its an OK lens I think the Carbon Fiber frame would have looked alot better with ICE or FIRE lens, so I might do some changing around with my other straight jackets.
LEX7 -
Frame:Gunmetal Orange Flames & Jet Black Emerald Flames
Lens:Fire & Emerald Iridium

I dont find these particular oakleys that comfortable but they come in such cool colours I own six pairs of them.
The Gunmetal Orange Flames/Fire & Jet Black Flames/Emerald Iridium are the coolest.
If you find them comfortable to wear then I Fully suggest you get a pair before they are discontinued just because it looks too good having flames on your glasses.
