It kind of looks like they changed the plasma paint formula while they were making my pair. One of the tops and the bottom of the other ear hammers have the bronze-ish coating, but the oppoisite sides have the silver plasma color of the lense rim. The nosebridge is just way darker than any of the rest of the frame. It is like a true bronze color - not a bronze tint.

I know they are authentic - I purchased them at a Vault. I just think they are weird...

I think that the Houston Galleria O-store had the new Soviets as of last friday. I was in there on Friday evening getting some new flak jacket lenses and I remember seeing the display in the window - don't know if the actual glasses are in the store yet or not. I love all of the GC designs, but they don't look very good on me so I have to pass. I totally fell in love with the new SJ - just have to wait for the white/+reds to come out.

I think it is probably a fake...aren't the only over the shoulder bags that oakley has done been the AP Sandbags?

I've been on e-bay and through the picture database, it looks like the Ti02/black iridium XX X-metal frame had x-metal nose bridges and hammers and that the Plasma/ice iridium XX X-metal frames were all plasma.

The nose bridge on mine is a lot lighter than x-metal (as compared to my x-metal/ruby juliets) but is a lot darker than plasma or Ti02 and actually slightly bronze looking.

The serial number on this pair i xp000800 - so it was a pair that was produced fairly early on. I remember reading somewhere that the older plasma tended to get darker with age? Is it possible that the nose bridge just aged quicker than the rest of the frame?

Ti02 wasn't made in X-metal XX with Ice Iridium - only Plasma was - at least according to the database. Also, The serial number matches the plasma/ice code and only the nose bridge is a different color, the ear stems are the same color as the frame...

My Latest Purchases from the Round Rock Vault:

Size 13 Teeth Shoes (Red)

Polished/Black GMT (It was a display so I got it for $300, but the battery is out so I will have to send it to CS to get it replaced)

Plasma/Ice X-metal XXs - serial number XP00800 (was in the DE case so no box)
The nose bridge is a lot darker than the rest of the frame on these glasses - is that normal?

I've scratched the crap out of the band, but not the crystal...yet.

I don't wear my TB or Icon that much though.

Oh yea, the Vault here in Round Rock, TX just got in some nice arrays (baseball, shooting, polairzed half-jacket). I think the shooting and baseball ones are $89 and the half jackets are $99. Killer deal either way.
Too bad I stopped wearing half jackets in favor of flak jackets...I would have jumped on those arrays

I love the Judge but I need to take it over to the o-store and have it sized again. I had them take out one link, but after wearing it for a couple of days, I need another 1/2 link taken out.

The bottlecaps don't really work - or at least I don't see a difference in light or dark, but maybe that is just me?

This weekends finds at the Round Rock Vault (I didn't get a chance to go to San Marcos this weekend)

I didn't see anything in the DE case that really piqued my interest. However, I did pick up two pairs of black humidors ($18 each) and a copper judge ($300).

I also picked up three pairs of glasses from Sunglass Club that is on the other side of the mall. Polished/black iridium polarized SJ - $90, Gold/Emerald SJ - $45, Polished/VR50 Transition Bottlecaps - $69.

thanks...

I should be in the Miami area in October and will probably be in Vegas before the year is out, so I will have to go and check out the stores there.

Do you happen to have a list of them around the country?

I tend to travel a lot and usually try and stop by all of the o-stores/vaults in the area and will put Sunglass Club on my list if I happen to be in a city that is close to one.

I've always used purell hand sanitizer. I understand people's concerns about the alcohol drying out the ubotanium, but I'm definitly not spitting on my glasses and then sliding them onto my face. Plus, if they do dry out, I will just purchase a new kit...unless I can't find $12 bucks, which means that I probably have other problems :)

Does anyone have a list of all of the Iacon stores?

Oakley purchased the company in 2001. There were initally 7 brands...Sunglass Designs, Sporting Eyes, Occhiali da Sole, Oakley Icon, Optica, Sunglass Club and Sunglass Icon. I believe that all of them were to be rebranded into Sunglass Icon Stores at one point, but I don't know if it ever happened.

I was at the Sunglass Club store in Round Rock, Texas this weekend. They had some killer deals on DE glasses - I picked up a pair of polished black/polarized SJs for $90. A pair of gold/emerald SJs for $45 and a pair of Transition VR50 Bottlecaps for $69 bucks.

I'm looking for a lit of the Sunglass Club Stores in particular because if there are more near me, I want to check them out, but if anyone has a full list of all of the Iacon stores, that would be great as well.

Stop by the Sunglass Club and say hi.
Which outlet center are you in? San Marcos or RR? I've heard of Sunglass Club, but have never seen it...

I was reading it as two seperate lines as well. Like a signature line that is once a quarter and then a special edition artist line that is once whenever they feel like it.

I'm thinking they are going to be released at special events (o-store/vault openings) or possibly be only available at certain stores like the C100 and such. Didn't they have a special edition GC that was from a skateboard company recently?

I just hope that we get some of the pieces here in Texas and I don't have to either fly across the country to get something that I really like or have to buy it secondhand.

Also, with new materials = very cool custom swaps. So that is another good thing :)

I was at the Katy Mills location yesterday. No new eyewear to speak of, but they did get in some new colors of Icon backpacks (black and green) that I haven't seen before. Also, they are doing a clearance sale on pretty much all of the footwear (they only seem to have smaller sizes left) and a lot of apparel is signifigantly clearanced. $10 t-shirts, board shorts, etc.

I'm heading to the Round Rock and San Marcos vaults this weekend - I'll post if there is anything good on Sunday.

"Influential artists, musicians and designers will use some of our most sought-after frame styles and contribute original graphical frame treatments, imaginatively rendered logos, and logo icons formed from special materials to create unique eyewear editions," continued Baden. "Oakley offers the very best of form and function, and this collaborative series allows us to bring these attributes together in a way that is important to customers whose purchase decisions are often driven primarily by style."

One of the first artist collaborations in the new series features a design by Art Chantry, an influential artist known for poster and album art that captured the Seattle grunge scene. Mr. Chantry's work draws from a combination of pop culture sources including ad campaigns from the '50s, psychedelic music posters from the '60s, and cultural icons from the '70s. The creation of the HIJINX(tm) Art Chantry Edition sunglass utilizes a deconstructed graphic collage that draws from the artist's wide-ranging catalog of more than 300 posters and album covers.

Sounds like we are going to be getting some very cool, "special edition designed" pieces soon...

I vote for MDs too, because they seem to fit most people's face well...plus, they already sell Ruby lenses (if we went that way) so it wouldn't have to be a custom chop job to have the lens color...of course, if we could get some custom +red etched MDs, I would be in for those too :)

I have 6 pairs of MDs (4 are cleared Whiskeys) and none of them have the logo on them. I'm going to have to keep an eye out for them that way...

I purchased two kits last week, but haven't actually treated my lenses yet. I'm trying to decide which pairs I want to try it out on.

I'm guessing it is going to be easier to put the coating on if I take the lenses out of the frames? Can anyone tell me what size the screw driver is for juliets - I'm way to lazy to run through all of the juliet threads to find out for myself :)

I've seen the stealth TBs for $250 at the vaults (I purchased one myself) and the Cannon Yellow and Cannon Red at vaults for $450.

SAC also had the watches at one point last week for $250.
