Is there an easy way to get the things on and off? I was trying to get a pair on today and it took a good 40 minutes of being convinced I'd snap/bend the arm any second.

I was wondeing about some kind of lubricant. Thought about washing up liquid but was worried what that might do to the rubber. Any suggestions (apart from KY Jelly!)

Hand sanitizer (in those little bottles people carry around) has always been recommended. I use it at SGH. It evaporates away as you use it. Even saliva.

I always install them the old fashioned way, then usually pay the price afterwards;

I use saliva. Spit it into the earsock and lick the arm. Slides right on.

Hand sanitizer works like a champ, recommended by our Oakley rep.

My personal problem with hand sanitizer is the chance of the alcohol drying out the unobtainium over time. My personal preference is water and saliva. I run water through the piece, blow it out then lick the earstem. It sounds kind of gross but they just slide right on.

If you are replacing worn out unobtainium with new, matching unobtainium there will be no problem. If you are swapping colors that is when blisters form! Just joking.

I have come to rely on a two-pronged approach involving 1) saliva and 2) twisting. The "inch-worm" technique is sub-par to the twisting technique. Obvious amateurs such as Banarno are case and point. Blisters just mean you are a bloody novice!

i tend to use fairly warm water and a touch of dish soap. once that crap dries, it's very tacky, and no ALCOHOL, unless you are drinking while performing your operation...HAHA

Well I tried spit and didn't find that to be very effective. I tried coughing up the contents of a pack-a-day smoker's lungs but then thought better of putting that stuff on my Oakleys.

I was about to head to the pharmacy to get some hand steriliser but was a little concerned about nasty alcohol on lovely unobtainium. So I had a look round the office and found the perfect solution: Neutrogena Norwegian Formula unperfumed hand cream.

Just the tiniest of specks on the end of a toothpick and then slide the toothpick down the earsock. Repeat at the other end and it slips on in under five seconds. The handcream contains Cetearyl alcohol (which is actually a wax produced from coconut oil) so I’m hoping it won’t dry out the rubber too much.

While I was changing the shocks over I used a automatic pencil to gently push out the old shocks and an idea hit me: graphite powder. That stuff is slippery as grease (if not more). So how about grinding up some pencil lead and using that? Obviously only on black unobtainium. Stay tuned for the next installment!

I've always used purell hand sanitizer. I understand people's concerns about the alcohol drying out the ubotanium, but I'm definitly not spitting on my glasses and then sliding them onto my face. Plus, if they do dry out, I will just purchase a new kit...unless I can't find $12 bucks, which means that I probably have other problems :)

sanitizer seems to be the hot ticket. I am gonna have to get some of that stuff...Would certainly set up faster since it evaporates quicker than soapy water...

I always just heat the Unobtainium up with a hair dryer. It expands enough to slip off/on without any trouble.

liquid hand soap and warm water, or hand sanitizer should do the trick (I prefer the hand soap and warm water)

An old trick that is used to put on bicycle grips to the handlebars is to use hairspray. It evaporates and then sticks the rubber in place so it should work on unobtanium.

I'm half tempted to pull the unobtainium off a pair of Juliets just to see if my idea about graphite powder works!
