Haven't actually seen the movie but I know most of the plot-line. In in, the mineral Unobtainium is a much disputed resource mineral that is the reason for all the conflict.


Uhm.....Why isn't someone suing? You're telling me that the writers just happened to come up with the same name for some fictitious mineral that Oakley uses for its synthetic rubber inserts? Has anyone else noticed this??

Over here and Davis, I've had plenty of use of my old A-Wires. Funny how you just don't see those around anymore practically.

The good news it that I've managed to keep the majority of my collection intact while here, but it's in storage right now.

What do you want to know?

There are bad batches of X-Metal out there too that have really high hardness and barely any tensility. X-Metal is NOT a hard metal! I've seen it snap on Juliets, Romeo 2, and Mars!

You know, I generally try to be open minded, but I literally have to say that for the past few days, I have been a mixture of ashamed and scared that I'm ethnically Chinese seeing as that the Virginia Tech killer was from South Korea. I know that all cultures and ethnicities have their psychos, but I guess it never really sunk in quite as much as this news breaker did.

I'm not sure if any of you out there got a chance to see the homemade video that Cho made of himself, but if you had no beforehand knowledge that he went out and shot 30 people, you'd have almost laughed at him for being the latter-end bloomer of teen angst. With everything come to light, it's more disturbing than scary--the video itself that is--because these kinds of videos are being made every day.

So, you know what? Be angry--anger is good so long as you focus it directly and constructively. I'm going to do my best to live my life, continue to be American--NOT chinese-American, but American--and steer clear of any potential unstable persons out there who are having a really bad day.

What should scare everyone the most, in my opinion, is not so much that I've already met a lot of people who KNEW people who knew people who were killed at V.T., and not that I can already feel the anti-asian sentiment mounting, but that I feel that *anyone* pushed far enough with stress can flip out, and kill someone.

Ball5out thought it was an injustice that I didn't have my collection updated so he took out all of my current X-Metals and put them up for a nice collection shot. 5 Romeos, 4 Ruby Juliets, 2 Ruby Mars, and assorted others. Blue Iridium Juliet, two golf Juliets, and whatnot.

Hope you guys enjoy. I'll eventually update the actual collection one of these days. Break during college.

Mountain/XC: 1997 Cannondale Super Raven 4000 SL

Road: Trek OCLV 5000

I'm thinking of getting another mountain bike because the carbon fiber bottom bracket of my cannondale really makes me nervous whenever I gun it. I swear it's gonna snap one of these days.

Trust me, the best of O has come and gone---I'm pretty much certain.

I've heard that 2007 is supposed to be a good year as well, but I'm convinced that 'good' for them means 'prolific'. Just because stuff is coming out doesn't mean it'll be good. I'd prefer that the company focus on good quality core essentials, but I know that's now how large retail businesses are run.

Those Ruby Juliets are one of my first. I like them a lot.

My next slated project will probably be something with one of the non traditional lens colors, i.e. newer lens colors. The problem of finding large enough spherical blanks is always something that dogs me.

These were the lenses I cut for the X-Metal Juliet grey frame first. Personally, they look better off the face than on--kinda like g30. I used these because the Big Square lens was large enough (barely--width was cutting close) and the spare lenses weren't doing much.

A comfortable lens to look through, but kind of neither here nor there looks wise. I have to say that it looks better than regular VR50 for the Juliet. X-Metals MUST be iridiums. Sorry.

Bill--Thought about that, but a lot of factors came into play. First of all, the Titanium Iridium Dark Bronze color combo for the MD is too rare for even me to destroy. Second, the etching is not at the optimum angle on the MD to match the polarization for the Juliet. With the bottlecap it was easy: Not only did the word 'polarized' happen to just be in the area to be shaved off, I hate the bottlecap anyway so the operation was a happy one. Plus, I've got more plans for old Bottlecap lenses.

FYI, the Bottlecap and the Juliet have pretty similar GEOMETRIC frame PDs so they're pretty much ideal for cutting custom lenses for the Juliet, C-Wire and A-Wire. I managed to get the polarizations pretty set with each other--within three degrees, which is well within the industry standards.

Next time I'll take photos along the way. Wait til I unveil what secret lens I plan for the custom Romeo.

I'm pleased with the results. I consider this pair my dry run pair. I have a second pair of BottleCap Titanium Iridium POlarized lenses which I'll use to make a slightly more finished pair of lenses.

This has a standard bevel for full rim glasses but I plan to make the second pair with a higher lens size and make it with a jeweler's bevel as to completely fill in the orbital.

Well, here are some photos. Finally found the proper mini-USB chord that would get my photos onto the PC. You'll have to forgive me, but the NIKON is an old one and I don't have zoom on it. It kinda sucks I know.

It was a fun project. I'll probably do it again.

The unfortunate matter is that it really only looks like a better Black iridium from an outsider's perspective as current Titanium Iridium has a much better quality mirror than today's black. Looking out is a pleasure, though.

Sounds like it would end up looking like a bad Thailand forgery.

Well, I got bored at work and decided that I'd make use of some of the spare lenses for various models I had.

My dry run of Titanium iridium polarized Juliets worked out pretty well. I'll post pictures later tonight hopefully. I'm pretty happy with the results. The only flaw I see is that the bevel for the Juliet is something that most edging machines don't do well so hand edging is a key sticking point. Often times, what is called the B dimension for eyeglass lens width is kind of a point of concern for pattern making as high wrap Oakley frames really through measurements off.

I'm currently taking my very old Titanium Romeo 1 frame down to the polishing wheel to see if I can strip off the titanium coating and prove my theory that underneath gen 1 plasma and titanium lies plain old X-Metal colorway. If I can't find some chemical agent to assist me in this, I'll just lose patience and just end up polishing up the Romeo for a mirror shine.

5% percent of the population cannot wear polarized lenses. There's a specific condition that relates to this. Also, there seems to be a large correlation between those who have naturally better than 20/15 vision being unable to wear polarized lenses. If you need to wear corrective lenses, it's much less a problem.

60 bucks to repair out of warranty. If you have a friend, then 30 bucks. I repaired mine for that price plus shipping.

Yeah, Heroes is pretty neat, but I haven't had time to really watch it regularly.

I like the dark grey lens by Oakley because it reminds me of of old G-15 lens by Ray-Ban-----a very good all purpose lens. Plus, the hint of green imparts a natural warmth I really like.

What I don't like is the name. It's not any darker than the standard grey by any significant amount. I know. I checked with a light meter and luminometer. Plus, it's not grey. It's a green.

Wish they released it in more frames.

Gotta love the "R" under 'Oakley', and the Registered Trade Mark symbol on that case. Very obvious.
