Well, I got bored at work and decided that I'd make use of some of the spare lenses for various models I had.

My dry run of Titanium iridium polarized Juliets worked out pretty well. I'll post pictures later tonight hopefully. I'm pretty happy with the results. The only flaw I see is that the bevel for the Juliet is something that most edging machines don't do well so hand edging is a key sticking point. Often times, what is called the B dimension for eyeglass lens width is kind of a point of concern for pattern making as high wrap Oakley frames really through measurements off.

I'm currently taking my very old Titanium Romeo 1 frame down to the polishing wheel to see if I can strip off the titanium coating and prove my theory that underneath gen 1 plasma and titanium lies plain old X-Metal colorway. If I can't find some chemical agent to assist me in this, I'll just lose patience and just end up polishing up the Romeo for a mirror shine.

Well, here are some photos. Finally found the proper mini-USB chord that would get my photos onto the PC. You'll have to forgive me, but the NIKON is an old one and I don't have zoom on it. It kinda sucks I know.

The unfortunate matter is that it really only looks like a better Black iridium from an outsider's perspective as current Titanium Iridium has a much better quality mirror than today's black. Looking out is a pleasure, though.

I'm pleased with the results. I consider this pair my dry run pair. I have a second pair of BottleCap Titanium Iridium POlarized lenses which I'll use to make a slightly more finished pair of lenses.

This has a standard bevel for full rim glasses but I plan to make the second pair with a higher lens size and make it with a jeweler's bevel as to completely fill in the orbital.

I almost did that when my Ti HJ lenses snapped, but ended up making the Chrome-Rootbeer/Ti Splice instead. Looks great.

Love it, if you use MD lenses you may even be able to save the etching. If I ever get ahold of a Brown Juliet, those are my lenses of choice for sure.

Bill--Thought about that, but a lot of factors came into play. First of all, the Titanium Iridium Dark Bronze color combo for the MD is too rare for even me to destroy. Second, the etching is not at the optimum angle on the MD to match the polarization for the Juliet. With the bottlecap it was easy: Not only did the word 'polarized' happen to just be in the area to be shaved off, I hate the bottlecap anyway so the operation was a happy one. Plus, I've got more plans for old Bottlecap lenses.

FYI, the Bottlecap and the Juliet have pretty similar GEOMETRIC frame PDs so they're pretty much ideal for cutting custom lenses for the Juliet, C-Wire and A-Wire. I managed to get the polarizations pretty set with each other--within three degrees, which is well within the industry standards.

Next time I'll take photos along the way. Wait til I unveil what secret lens I plan for the custom Romeo.

Good to know Johnathan, that opens up alot of options for Juliet lenses with the Thump Pro replacement lenses.

Titanium Iridium rules, I have had a pair of Carbon\Titanium Iridium Juliet's for quite some time and they are one of my favorite pairs to wear.
