Trust me, the best of O has come and gone---I'm pretty much certain.

I've heard that 2007 is supposed to be a good year as well, but I'm convinced that 'good' for them means 'prolific'. Just because stuff is coming out doesn't mean it'll be good. I'd prefer that the company focus on good quality core essentials, but I know that's now how large retail businesses are run.

While attending an "O" training session (for the intro of the thump pro and such), I saw alot of blah colors, the canteen colorways come to mind, browns grays and blacks.. I asked "So where are the ices and the fires!". The rep who was conducting the training replied "well, were kind of trying to get away from the extreme image and focus on more earthy and fashionable styles". My heart wept, when I read that the best of "O" has come and gone, i'd have to agree. I worked at a sunglass retailer owned by Oakley, and while I could do a quarterly order of anything for around 60% off, I rarely did. I really could care less for anything out there, I just scour the bins for older.. (cooler) stuff.

I really think it is funny that they have gone that hard after the fashion market.
It’s smart (good money and high turnover of what is in fashion and what is out) but funny to watch.

Still what is wrong with having a sport division and a fashion division?
So that you can have civilized world colors (something for work or the masses) and junebug butt colors.

Ummm....thats what they're doing. The Radar is killer and although Im not a fan of the Flak Jacket, it will sell well with the hydrophobic lenses. Meanwhile the fashion stuff will like you said, turn huge profits. I think the only think Oakley could use some help on is their apparel. Its way behind brands like Volcom and even Burton now with their Mark XIII high end line. There are a few things I'd buy but not much from what Ive seen so far. If Oakley wants to make it in the fashion world, they need a solid apparel line, period.

Ditto on that Bill

As for the general orientation that stock color combos and style configuration have taken, I don't see anything wrong with some models being more fashion-y, so long that we keep some core models going. I think people might be surprised by one of the new O Matters coming out this year.

Plus, with so many models coming in OCP with rainbow colors, what do you have to worry about ? The Fire- and Ice-addicts will still have plenty of substance to chew on, don't worry.

I just saw all the fall apparel on Tuesday and it ROCKS!!!!!! It is getting alot better, from the soft matierals and prints on the tees to the casual and snow jackets. They are AWESOME!!! Give them a little time, they are gonna get it!

Oakley would have at least one more customer for their apparel if they made some for tall people.

It's called GiantLine and it's ALL designed just for you :)

Are you really seven feet tall? Will you come over and help me get some stuff down from the attic?

the impression I'm getting is a some people at HQ know something and others don't on whats available & whats coming.

In the end it depends on whom you actually talk to there.
