Looking for the sunglasses used in The Matrix, of all things. I was guessing, and I've never been happier to be wrong.

Tall dude bitten by the Oakley bug. I'm interesting, promise!
Oh, and the profile picture is, sadly, the best one I have on my hard drive. Go figure.

Yeah, 920 dollars for what is basically an O-Matter frame with ti inserts is kinda ridiculous. Still, there's always e-bay.

OK, so the Pit Boss is really growing on me, but 800 CAD is, to quote my parents, a bit above my snack bracket. Considering that I start a full-time job and will be spending the next year or so repaying some debt, it just isn't going to happen.
Unless... anyone need some sperm? I'm tall and smart and handsome! You could have your very own Mini! Multiple Minis!

I haven't had a chance to try on either the Splinter or the Square Whisker yet, but am I right in thinking they're a wider/bigger fit than the Square Wire 3.0? I really like the design of both frames, but I always found the 3.0 just a *bit* lacking in coverage.

It would take a machine capable of powering a galaxy to give me the energy to care any less about serial numbers on anything. I tend to wear the less-popular models just 'cause I get a kick out of knowing I won't see another person wearing 'em on a given day. Doesn't mean a damn thing to me if it has a little number etched in there, too.

I'm torn on the Pit Boss. I like it more now that I've seen the thing on some faces, but I'm not sure it's worth the 500+ bucks to me. Yet. If they come out with a Chrome/Black Chrome/Ruby iteration, then we're talking.

My uncle used to wear Revo sunglasses (pre-Lux buyout) and said they were the best quality lenses he'd ever worn. Don't remember the ads, though.
I don't doubt that Oakley's lenses are among the best in the business, but I *do* know that I can wear polarized Oliver Peoples glasses, but I can't wear Oakley's polarized lenses. I still don't understand that one.

Sorry, it's just that my ass is still rather chapped over the take-over. One of my favorite brands of all time, Persol, has been damn-near ruined by Lux's influence. I just hate to think of the same thing happening again.
I mean, it's not so much the price - I've dropped that much on other frames from other brands -, and the design does look pretty damn cool, I'll admit. Just call it pessimism, though I'd be a happy man were I disappointed. :)

It's funny, but here's another one: The Juliet. It was a good two years before I began to appreciate it.

Intriguing design, I'll admit, and definitely reminds me of the good ol' days. But I will be damned if I'll pay 560 dollars for a Luxottica product.

Oliver Peoples is my favorite eyewear brand, slightly edging out Dita and Barton Perreira. (If you haven't looked at Dita's Grandmaster-2 or BP's Vanquest, you are doing yourself a disservice.) And I was one of the lucky ones to snag a silver/blood red OP-523. Should be in sometime next week. (Yes, as I've mentioned before, it's my favorite sunglass of all time. I am so excited.)

I'm really torn on the R2. I think it's a good design, but it's relatively restrained and truly needs some interesting colorways for it to shine. What they've put out thus far just doesn't cut it.
I mean, how hard is it to put out a polished/emerald (for example) offering? Not very, I'll bet. It's a design that's been mostly forgotten, almost like Oakley's admitted that it was a failure.

Haven't posted here in ages, pretty much because I've moved on from the brand. I haven't been excited about a frame in about a year now, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. There are other brands - Dita, Barton Perreira, Cazal, Robert Marc - that "speak" to me more than anything Oakley nowadays.
It's as I said back when the Fuxxottica takeover was first announced: It was never ours, and I have no problem turning my back on a brand that no longer caters to my interests. Best of luck to 'em, but I can't see myself ever buying another frame.

I suppose I should add that my favorite currently owned pair of sunglasses is a 5 dollar vintage pair I found on e-bay that's reminiscent of the OP-523 Brad Pitt wears in Fight Club, so take my words with a rather large grain of salt.

Jackie O-style sunglasses on men = No go, unless you're a rock star, pimp, or emo prat.
Shield frames = If you can rock 'em, rock 'em.
For what it's worth.

Whiskers Black Chrome/G30: 150
Why 8.2 Black Chrome/Black Iridium. Worn a lot, but also babied. At least an 8.5/10: 120
Oil Drum Cinder Red/Black Iridium. Just been collecting dust for a few months now. 40
Crosshair Polished Chrome/VR28 Black Iridium: 9/10, 130
All prices are in Canadian funds, and are OBO. I'm more than willing to negotiate, 'cause these have gotta move. Thanks!

To be perfectly honest, I can't tell the difference between Grey, Black Iridium and Warm Grey anyway. Yay for saving ten dollars!

I have to ask, was the Half X designed so that the lenses can be swapped as in the Half Jacket/Flak Jacket?

I take back most of the bad things I've said about the Half X. I'll probably pick up the Polished/VR28 BI iteration this summer.

While I admit that Oakley's more miss than hit these days (only new frame that blows me away this year is the Inmate), I'm still thankful that they're around. Not every Lux owned brand has gone to shit (Ray Ban's seen better days, but Prada and Persol, for example, still have some interesting and high quality designs), and as long as there's the occasional home run (the aforementioned Inmate) I'll stay supportive.

Heh, as someone who has compulsively cleaned other people's 10 dollar replica shades, I can say that A) if I ever do something that stupid with my shades, it means I've gone crazy and my collection is to be confiscated and sent to Rick, and B) if I saw someone abusing 800 dollar shades (y'know, actual 800 dollar shades, like something from Chrome Hearts or Louis Vuitton), I would cry.
For perspective, to this day the most choked-up I've ever gotten was over seeing a Ferrari Enzo get lunched on Youtube.

Out of curiosity, is the Nanowire 4.0 about the same size as the New Square Wire?

ENOUGH WITH THE GODDAMNED GASCANS.
Ugh, why do they continue to pimp the ugliest frame in the current collection? Goddamn!

1) Yes
2) No
3) I think C5 is light enough. Even my Spikes aren't too heavy.
4) All NSWs have spring hinges.

Chad's facial hair makes his mouth look like a vagina. Seriously, look at him sideways and picture him eating a sausage and tell me that doesn't look like an 80's porno.
