If I have the receipt, I keep it in the box. The past few years for me have mostly been about ebay purchasing to avoid retail prices ... so I have grown accustomed to never having a receipt and just sending the $40 in to Oakley whenever I need service or replacement.

M000130 for Ruby Mars

Looking for a really old Juliet and Romeo out there. Anyone got any numbers in the hundreds I might be interested in?

Just discovered this tonight.

On my Leather Gold Mars, the serial number is etched on the frame in two places. #1 on the left arm and #2 on the left nose bomb holder (when you take the nose bomb off).

Did anybody know this? And is it the only X-Metal with two locations for the serial?

Hmm, just took a look on my Ruby (to which all that unobtainium residue gooped off onto my hands. Got it from ebay, so it's someone else's sweat, gross) and no serial. I'll check the two leather I have at home when I get there.

Huh. Maybe they only did it on the Leather Mars? My serial is M*013547 and on the nose bomb holder it has (in teeny tiny numbers) 013547

Either way it isnt going to change the world but it surprised me when I saw it 5 mins ago.

Here is a dodgy pic I took with my camera, which does not have 'macro' which is apparently the ability to take really close up detailed pictures.

See? Tiny serial number!!!

Figures, the one model I was going to do a stem swap, so I could put my low serial on a pristine model. Oh well.

I must not have spoken to too many people while I was over your way. I didn't hear any of that while I was there.

It's still common in parts of London Phil, but only the odd person would use a phrase or two outside London.

I've always hated the idea of all Mars X-metal colour frames having the same letter prefix in their serial #. Didn't make sense to me.

Anybody check out the Carbon/24k Juliet recently? I'm curious as to what serial # they're at right now. I believe Oakley Canada just got some in stock, and I'm thinking about getting a pair.

Some more info regarding the Ruby Juliet that I somehow forgot to mention but definitely should be documented......

From its release to just after the release of the X-men movie (ie. Late May to mid-July 2000), the RJs were priced at $300 USD on Oakley.com. When the movie came out, the price of the RJs jumped up to $400 USD.

On the topic of the carbon/24k juliet, I was in the Oakley store in Ebisu, Tokyo yesterday and they have a pair for sale. (I live in Tokyo) How rare are these? Apart from this website, I have never heard of them. They want 39.000 yen for them. Is it important for me to buy them? Will you all envy me if I buy them?

Yes, we would envy you because they're a f-in' nice pair of glasses. And it is important you buy them because they're Oakleys, damnit. :D

They aren't rare, but they aren't readily available either. There's probably tens of thousands out there, but they are OPD items and aren't advertised. In fact, the only time I've seen it listed is on UK commerce sites (which is where most of them seem to come anyway). You'd have to be in the know to actually know they exist. I'm guessing their sales probably isn't as high as the other Juliets because of that. Once you know they exist, though, Oakley carries them in stock, so it really isn't all that difficult to get your hands on them.

I saw an S/N on a Plasma/Fire Juliet today of over 1.2 million! I guess I had no clue they went that high

My Leather Mars have the Serial number printed on the arm and the nose bomb area to. (I checked after Ford posted that his had this feature) M*000290 on the arm, but on the Nosebomb it simply reads 000290.
