Just starting a new thread to keep from cluttering the other one:

Went into my parents attic today and looked through my comic. I swear I'm missing a bunch, but also my cards are all gone too, so they must be somewhere, hopefully together. I scanned the cover of Power Pachyderms. Man the 80's were weird.

I have every comic from the Age of Apocalypse. All the regular titles changed over for about 4 months or so, like Generation X went to Generation Next etc... I can only find a few titles though up there. Hmmmm.

You thinking someone maybe borrowed them to put up on e-bay.

by the way, that is a mighty fine collection of long swinging appendages on that front cover.

They're celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Age of Apocalypse and doing a 6 issue storyline that continues where they left off.

Thought I'd resurrect this since we have more than 20 members now.

Anyone pick up anything good recently. I've started getting back into it after 10 years or so. I found the stash in my parents attic, so I brought them all home. Ended up with a little over 300 which I though was good. Have some good completed story lines like Fatal Attractions where wolverine has his adamantium ripped out and later starts mutating into a beast. Then the Phalanx Covenant which led to Generation X and then the Age of Apocalypse. I kind of left off there, but I'm trying to complete the Generation X series, and thanks to Ebay, I have all but 3 now. Also just grabbed the Dark Phoenix Saga as a trade paperback. X3 will be partially based on that, so I'd like to get the whole story before the movie taints it.

What's everyone else into.

I buy a bunch of things, but the ones I read as soon as I get my quarterly batch of comics are:

1) Astonishing X-men
2) Daredevil
3) Ultimates 2
4) Ultimate Spider-man
5) Ultimate X-men
6) Ultimate Fantastic Four
7) Squadron Supreme
8) Justice
9) All Star Superman
10) All Star Batman
11) Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk (whenever the next issue decides to ship)
12) all the rest (X-men books, Spidey books, New Avengers, etc.)

My advice is, since you're just getting back, stay clear of the main X-books for now (it seems you're more of an X-fan and would gravitate to that first). A new creative team is coming on board soon for the main titles (don't know the issues), but they sound great. The big stars nowadays are the writers. The era you came from generally starred good artists rather than good writers. It's a change, but a good change IMO.

Good luck, Dann. Hope you stay in the hobby.

I heard the Age of Apocalypse continuation was riddled with plot holes and continuity errors. Shame no one can keep things straight. I do like the main titles, but if nothing's going on, then there's not much point. Just back in the 90's the art was nice, but the stories kept me interested and always led to something else. I'm not a fan of pressing the reboot button and starting fresh. 40 years of history is important to the title and it's nice to see old storylines having an effect on the newer ones. I liked how some of the surviving characters from the Age of Apocalypse ended up being responsible for the Mutant Massacre in the 80's. Oak's right though, we need some good writers to keep the facts straight and the stories interesting.

I've just recently made the decision to cut back on my books, and I don;t buy a lot. Esp with the wave of big universe shake-ups between DC 52, One Year Later, Crisis whatever and Marvel Whatever just happend and Civil War. It's all too mcuh to do every damn summer and it makes single titles hard to follow because you need to buy everything. New Avengers and Wolverine just got cut. As did any attempt to want to read Spider-Man books or Batman books. Well SM turned me off when "The Other" event started, I was just enjoying his role in the New Avengers up to that point. I really wanted te return of Fthom to be good, but it was very blah and has turned me away from any of Turner's projects coming out of Aspen.

As of now I'm on my old standby's:
100 Bullets (until it ends in 2 years)
POWERS (When it ships)
GI Joe (Until it goes bad as usual)

And the non-mainstream mainstream titles:
Batman All-Stars (When it ships, damn Miller!)
Superman All-Stars
Wolverine: Origins and Endings mini-series

When anything Danger Girl ships I'm all over it. Anything that Jeph Loeb abd Tim Sale collaborate on, which may not be anything for a while now.

Lucky ebay lot. Got 173 issues for $60 + 20 shipping. I'll head to the comic shop and try to fill in the 15 issues or so that are missing.

It's roughly Uncanny X-men 296-383 and X-Men 13-103 plus the '99 Annual for each.

Hmm, I hope they had a grand plan for that. If some writer just decided to do that, they can't easily reverse it.

But then again, they never took back revealing the identity of Daredevil, did they? And with Spidey as an Avenger it may not matter. Aren't their IDs public knowledge as a high profile team.

Well, I am in the (slow) process of phasing out some of my comics in favor of getting them in trade paper back or hard cover form.

I will enjoy it more, when re-reading them and it will look much nicer on the shelves I think.

They have been releasing more Omnibus editions lately (HUGE runs of comics) thats my next one:

New X-Men, just under 1100 pages ! it colects the Grant Morrison 42 comics run.

I just hope the binding is good on those things.

Didn't realize they put something that big out for X-men. At any rate, the first 3 issues of Morrison's New X-men were great. IMO, the next four were decent. it was pure crap after that. Enjoy. ;)
