I'm in San Fran for work for a few days and noticed last night to my dismay that one of the bolts and also the washer for my Tank was missing out of a link :(. I was completely bummed and naked feeling without it. I called HQ and they said that they could only service the watch if it was sent to them. On a long shot I decided to hit up the O-store on Market street here in SF. After scouring the store for an extra link bolt and washer and finding none, a gentleman named Ken decided that since his spare links were at home, and would donate one of his so that I could wear my watch the rest of the trip. How effing cool is that?!?! I cannot express how amazed I was, and he refused for me to at least buy him lunch only saying "dude, if I couldn't wear mine for 3 days like that I'd be depressed...so you can have my bolt, I'll just replace it when I get home"...haha. It's cool to see some real "Oakley people" working at the stores, etc....

That was very, very cool of him to do that. Truly a gentleman.

Now that is awesome.

Do him a favour and write up a note and send that to HQ saying which store it was and who the employee was. Stuff like that is just killer to hear.

Good thing you didn't tell him you needed some spare underwear for your trip...

Seriously, though, that was more than generous of him. Kudos.

A true, dedicated Oakley employee.

That guy figured it out.

You should definitely write a letter to his superiors about that. Too many times people only write in to complain, they like to see thank you letters from time to time. If you send me a PM I can get you the info on who to address it too.

You should so send his boss an email. I did that once for a customer and did not even get so much as a thank you. Then to make it even worse the same guy comes back a few months later asking for me to give him one of my links for a second Time Tank he did not even buy from us (I am guessing ebay seeing as it was already sized and he did not have links) then wanted to complain to my boss when I told him I couldn't because I all ready gave him all my extra parts the first time!

Great story Dustin, thanks for sharing and like Defender said, a letter of thanks to his boss would be a nice gesture, employees like that are rare gems.

That's really messed up.

If that guy didn't want to thank you, then I'll say it.

Thank you, Brandon.

Way to go above and beyond. That guy's a true example of exemplary customer service. I echo the recommendations to write a note of commendation to his supers.
Unfortunately, Brandon's story is one example of why many people in customer-facing positions stop caring. Day in and day out, you get at least 1000x more asses than you do people who are genuinely grateful for your help. To be reminded of why we do it, and to be shown that we truly are appreciated (by both customers and employer) really helps make the job worthwhile, and keeps the good ones where they are.

Awesome story, Dustin. Thanks for sharing.
