i agree, if someone feels strongly, dont deal with them, the focus should be on the products & collecting, not necessarily where it comes from.

I wouldn't invest in Bernie Madoff or Martha Stewart, so why would I bother buying from or selling to the people who artificially control the Oakley secondary market to a degree??? Some people just haven't got a clue...I have been out of work for over a year...There have been times where I could easily sell to those idiots...make my money and run...Guess what??? I haven't, so I guess that tells me no matter what, you DON'T have to sell to those people if you have values at all...Times have changed...

Oh, and for info, I GAVE AWAY a pair of the original glow frogs to another member...Not the $25 craig's list pair, but the original glossy pair from my personal collection...So, how many members out here are doing that?? Not many I bet, especially when I could have scalped them to the meat market ebayers and made a couple hundred bucks...Members will help members from time to time....When they are respected....

I gave away a truck bed full of display items for shipping. What goes around, comes around. I've been repaid many times over indirectly.

It's a small community so reputation reigns supreme.

One aspect to consider: If the whole basis of these 3-4 hated o flippers is that they can buy your stuff and sell if a week later for much, much more ... doesn't that whole system imply that there is a pool of other buyers willing to pay more for your item? So why sell it to the <in this case, evil> middlemen?

Most of this issue seems to revolve around principles and not necessarily a black and white right/wrong. It's easy to say that technically or legally there is no wrong done in selling to them or what they in turn will do. However, they do seem to quickly fail any sort of principles or morality measurement when you look at their actions.

Surprising that we really only have such a small handful of despised ebay entities ... you'd think it wouldn't be such an issue to just generally hate and ban them. Why let 3 bad eggs ruin a hobby and passion?

And I'm pretty well known for not doing anything nice for anyone, so there ya go! ;)

Yea, that Oogie guy's a bitch.

As for the scalpers, I know my personal philosophy would be to never toss them a bone. They do too much damage as it is. But whatever others want to do is out of my control. The only control I have is my thoughts and opinions, and who I do and don't deal with.

We've helped out others before, but we've also been burned. The sad thing is it kind of makes us a bit more cautious of who we lend a hand to.

It is a shame how they influence the prieces. I'm searching for stretchline Razorblades (to complete my Stretch collection..) and since these ******* offer them for over 200 USD the prices developed horrible.

Mmm, Razor Blades.
I'm actually using my Matte Clear/Blue Iridium pair today. They really are an under appreciated pair, I think.

I'm just throwing this out there, and please just take it for face value....

First off, I appreciate everyone taking their time to help educate me regarding scalpers. Second, I agree with most or all of what has been said. Third, I really wish I had gotten into collecting seriously before 6 months ago. I remember seeing Mars and Splice models sitting on shelves collecting dust. And, last, I am a recent graduate, faced with student loans and a terrible economy. I'm pretty poor, for now. I have an addiction, and I am compelled to sate it. If anyone wants to sell, give away, or whatever for any piece of Oakley paraphernalia, please contact me first. Please have mercy when regarding price. I frequent the local Sunglass Huts just looking for the boxes that my newer models originally came in. I just bought my fiancee her second pair, and I am stoked that she, too, has a collection. I'll take or buy pretty much anything, if I don't already have it. I even keep the tags off of my hoodies.

Thanks to everyone for everything, especially in the links to what I'm looking for. You all help to vindicate me in my obsession.

Slightly/hardly related ebay note: I'm saddened that the overall state of ebay that only 35% (roughly) of auctions are actual auctions.

BIN & Best Offer auctions have taken much of the excitement and potential out of ebay for me. I don't even look at them any more. I can realize their intention for the seller/buyer balance ... but they still suck.

K, just wanted to toss that out there. Now go send Ian some stuff!

Awesome! Send me stuff!

Yeah, I just lost Racing Jackets and 1st Gen Straight Jackets due to snipers or scam sellers. Dammit. By the way, is there a treatment for Oakleyphilia? I bought 3 pairs yesterday, and am now relegated to ramen. If I die of malnourishment, my Eyeshades will trick people into thinking I'm just relaxing harder than normal.

Oh yeah, can we block seeing certain sellers on eBay? I know we can block bidders, but wading through Amermuckstain's auctions and all the fake replacement lenses is tedious and frustrating. If I sort by highest price, I get all douchehole's auctions. If I sort by cheapest price, I get 372 "custom" Juliet lenses at $0.99. By the way, what's the deal with Finito lenses? I gather that they are special, but why?

To echo Ian's comments, I am glad my big days of scanning eBay were done prior to the proliferation of douchebags that we see quite consistently these days. Not to say they weren't lurking in the shadows back then, Preludicious, Eakaz, and a few more, but no one had the balls back then to list a pair for a BIN of $4000. That's like waving your middle finger to the whole community in my book. No class.

BIN & Best Offer auctions have taken much of the excitement and potential out of ebay for me. I don't even look at them any more. I can realize their intention for the seller/buyer balance ... but they still suck.
God, I used to love sniping some poor sucker from Seattle in the wee hours of the Japanese night...

I'm not from the west coast, so correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't Seattle and Japan like next door neighbors?

Ian, I don't know about blocking a seller, but I know thEbay lets you filter them out. If you use the advanced search options, you can specify "only show items from" <fill in your favorite seller's name>. In this field, I believe if you put a minus sign before the name it will exclude it from your search.

So, on the left side of the screen on eBay, there is a "Seller" tab. Under that, there is a "Specify Seller" button. From there, all you have to do is type the sellers names, separated by a comma. We need a comprehensive list that we can all copy and paste into the box. Any takers?

Yeah, Rick and I were planning a kayak trip to meet up halfway in Alaska - but had a bit of a falling out after continued ebay sniping. (by which I'm doubly lame, never used a sniping program to help me)

::LOL:: Sorry dude. But Japan is like 19 hours ahead of us here in Hawaii. So I think they're just a little further away from Seattle than "next-door neighbors." ^_~

My name is Jason, and I'm an Oakleyholic. I slipped again today and bought a pair of Fives 3.0. They were BNIB and half price, I just couldn't help myself! They fit so well and the bronze polar lenses were just so crispy, I couldn't stop the wallet from coming out of my pocket!

Awe who am I kidding, I'm an O junkie with no desire to stop any time soon >:^)

P.S. Sorry for thread jacking, this is just too much fun ;^)

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has bought any O's from an ebay seller named "cszendejas." The reason I ask is that she has a LOT of Oakley's up for BIN at pretty reasonable prices, but I find it suspicious that there is no box with any of them. Normally I would scoff at such a glaring suggestion of fakery, but she has over 3000 feedbacks from O buyers and none accuse of being fake. I'd like to jump on some, but I'm hesitant. If anyone has experience from this seller, please pipe up.

Evan...seeing that some similar sellers are from my area, I'll suggest to you what I came up with. I've noticed that one day certain shades will be in my vault...and the next day they'll be online. No boxes if they're DE items...only bags.
