So I figured today was a good day to start a topic.lol. To all of u that don't work for Oakley. I was wondering if Oakley came to you and offered you a job to work for them, for less than what u were making now, but with really good benefits(i.e discounts, medical 401k etc) would you follow your passion for Oakley? Or would you stay with your current job?

For the most part, I would say "yes". As with anything else, however, it really is dependent on the role of the job, if it's financially viable to move, and personal obligations. But working for Oakley would probably be a dream come true for most of us.

Oh hell yeah, the work enviroment is amazing, the company is very progressive with design...it seems like a place where thoughts and ideas are actually listened to instead of disregarded because you aren't one of the "good ole boys" like a lot of places

I don't know if someone could pay me less. No, just kidding. I may take the job if only to work for a better job within the company.

Seeing as I work in a jail and a VERY negative environment I would definately be interested. I would for sure take the job if it was here in Canada and in a loss prevention/security related field. Money is not everything.....happiness and job satisfaction are!.....and Oakley too!!

If the money was 'do-able' and I didn't have to relocate from my mild n' misty Pacific Northwest, then sure.

Being that I know many people there and how the culture of Oakley is, YES YES YES emphatically YES! There is opportunity around every corner there it seems, and the upward movement is good. The wage may not be as high as one would think for a company like that, but the overall benefits seem stellar! Awesome casual corporate environment, really cool perks, and lots of functions to attend. The only bad thing I see is a lot of people don't recognize the whole picture and get greedy or stupid. The fun never ends and you would be on the cutting edge of the industry with Oakley! So yeah, I would love it.

Hmmm... let me think about that for about six seconds or so.

Seeing as I am currently working in the auto industry, I'd have to say...

...uhhh, yeah, sign me up.

Well, actually I consider I'm having a good salary basis for the job I do. But I live in Paris so I throw nearly half my salary in my apartment renting ! ARGH.
So I could work for Oakley or another company if I had better advantages beside the salary, even if this one would decrease a little (hey, I need to earn enough to buy glasses).

At least, I could get rid of my department director which is an a$$hole, hahaha !

I am only an apprentice so the chances that they're paying me less is pretty doubtful. I would love to work for Oakley, but it couldn't just be a job in a store. I would love to be a rep just because you would travel around meet lots of people and don't forget the discount :-). Only problem is there is no chance of a job like that where i live so i will just keep to what i do now.

lol I'd pay oakley to employ me and I'd carry out any needed medical procedures on myself...with blunt spoons :-)

If i was offered a Job with them, my initial reaction would be to jump on it..... but if i think about it.

You see I work for myself, and set my own hours and work ethic I have no-one to answer to other than myself + I earn a decent amount to live fairly comfortable.

I don't know if i could go into a corporate structured environment, with so many regulations and codes, no matter how cool the company may be your still an employee and there are rules. Your Job security is always a concern (especially in the Economic climate). Where as working for myself it rests on me to perform and create the work if it doesn't come to me, i can't fire myself only being lazy will do that.

That all said if say a rep position was for the taking i would still consider it mainly due to my fandom than anything else.

I'd jump on it for sure, even if it was a pay cut. I already work in a corporate environment where there are rules and people to answer to on a daily basis which I'm sick and tired of and would like something more relaxed. Money's not that important to me and I couldn't give a s**t about climbing the corporate ladder. It sounds like working for Oakley may be more relaxed, so yeah I'd go for it if I had the opportunity.

If they could match my benefits and pay through UPS, then yes. The cost of living is so much higher in Cali then in South Dakota. I would have to have a rep job here, cause my wife won't leave.

I've already applied. You have to have a degree in engineering, a background in marketing, a trophy wife, 3 nuts, and farts that smell like freshly-baked bread to work at Foothill Ranch. I just need to work on that marketing thing and I'm set.

Hmmmm...

I have a degree in Computer Applications and International relations (not quite engineering, but close)
Have over 10 years of experience in Sales and Marketing including 4 years of International sales and marketing in China
Definitely have a trophy wife- she's 10 years younger than me
My farts...... Well, maybe that's what i need to work on.

Seriously though, they had a China market expansion position on the website for almost 2 years and I applied and applied. I couldn't even get a response to my resume. That's pretty p*** poor IMNSHO. having been a head hunter before, no matter how many resumes you get, they all deserve the respect of a response, even if it's "uh.... NO".

That being said, yes, I would jump at the opp and I'm still looking for the RIGHT people to get my resume too to help the China market EXPLODE. I have high level contacts within the national sports administration, the Chinese Basketball association, the CHinese Football association, the enterntainment industry (TV, FILM and Music), the motorsports industry (the #3 ranked off-road truck racer and officer in the governing body is friend of mine), the top 3 luxury retail outlets in China (one of which carries Oakley- but never has people at the counter- the sales people don't know anything about it), etc. Not that it matters now, but I even had contacts in the BJOC. talk about untapped markets. Give me a year and I could make that place EXPLODE.

Wow. short answer turned long.

Yep. that's what I figured when I applied. But I've been applying for 2 years. To no avail. I'll just keep plugging away at it, I guess.

Yes, I would without question do almost anything to work for Oakley. Haha, now I just need to live somewhere where there is an Oakley store or something along those lines...

Provided I get the same major benefit as my current job (ability to spend half of my working time either surfing the net or writing another book or staring out of the window while scratching my balls), I'd take a job at Oakley!
