God this all sucks so bad. Everyone's on edge and nothing has even happened officially yet! Imagine when it's a done deal! I have to admit rebranding of other models would send me over the edge!

i got dibs on Bill's Time Tank!

Phil's absolutely right, it seems much too soon for something from Lux's roster to have rebranded Oakleys. not that i'm happy with the idea but i sincerely hope the Arnette one is fake, and that rebranding will never happen.

i have a fake Crush 2.0 watch branded as a Puma, i hope it's the same situation.

I don't get it why sell off a collection? lets say if you had a collection of classic Aston Martin cars will you sell them off because now they are ( or until march of 07) made by ford? One may stop collecting any new Lux-oakley stuff but it sure as hell would make the original Oakley's much more collectible.

i can understand why people would be selling off their collection if the merger goes awry. people can get emotionally attached to their collection and it's like a relationship. somehting bad happens to the relationship and the first response is to rid of things that are tied to the relationship. i'm sure we've been in a similar situation, be people react differently .

me, i'll be keeping my collection. hell... i'll be hoarding my collection.

Thats just blatantly stupid. There's a few G's of merch sitting right there in the open for anyone to gank. Hopefully that is a store-specific problem.

Probably a store specific problem yes, I have seen this reported from time time, quite sad, but its the Rep job to check on these things from time to time.

Seems like not all reps do a proper job, then.

As far as the Anette GC. I agree with Phill and look at it as to a bad joke. It's not funy (to glue a Arnette logo onto a GC) and I'll forget all about it come tomorow.

Ok so I admittedly said that out of shock of seeing that Arnette...

But if monstrosities like that are the future, the Oakley brand WILL be completely devalued and fall...hard. Maybe the vintage stuff will survive, but even the value of that is based on current trends, style and fashion.

So if it starts to turn south, this O-Reviewer just may be cashing his cow out. (You can help Rick)

I could be wrong but that looks to be an Iacon HMS host (airport) store. The glasses are locked in so no one can just run off with them. Our store has a very similar tubix system, just looks a little different. Just rececntly we've gone to "open sell" so all of the racks are open. Yea, the amount of stolen glasses has gone up unfortunately however I think it has generated more sales.

Anywho, I'm with everyone else. If Luxottica starts taking over with manufacturing and what not, the collection will be sold.

Man this thread is getting worst and worst. Thats some scary s***. I certainly hope and pray to God Lux wont f*** with Oakleys designs and logos. That Gascan uptop is such a bad sign of what things could become

Bong: that puma crush looks exactly like the Oakley. I hope not seeing a holeshot (my next watch) with a RB or another Lux logo on it

I should avoid this thread. Kinda depressing :-(

I think we all need to slow on the paranoia about what Lux might do to Oakley.
There are many months before this deal is ratified by all the appropriate bodies. Then there will be a period of adjustment, then a period of development etc etc etc.
I doubt we will see any product developed by Oakley under Lux ownership for at least 2 yrs.

It must be remembered that all current products recently released and any slated for a future release have all had a very long lead time to their release.
From first thought to retail release doesn't happen in weeks or even a few months. it takes many many months.

it seems that on the first of june, lux already knew that this merger was going to happen, is there any more news , i think it is too quiet on that front.

It was odd that the nanowires were targetting Maui Jim and not another competitor (namely a Lux brand). I'm sure this has been in the works for a while. Even with the women's frames, there's a Juicy model that looks exactly like the cappuccino Script. Colorway-wise, not entirely like the frame shape.

I agree Fred that it's to quiet. You would think they would be touting their 'enthousiasm' about the merger and project all kinds of new profits etc.
I've noticed their Rx department in Europe takes far longer than usual to fill orders. One of the dealers I use also said they notice a lot of problems recently with their dealings with Oakley Europe. Don't know if it's related to the coming merger but I imaging there is a lot of uncertainty within the Oakley organization.
I'm personally very anxious about Oakley's Rx program as I don't know if luxoticca has any interest in the opthalmic market. Also not certain what their plans are for Europe?
If anyone has more information please let us know.

I don't know if luxoticca has any interest in the opthalmic market.
Well let's see, they own LensCrafters. And just about every company the produce sunglasses for they also make opthalmic frames - from RayBan to Versace to Brooks Brothers and so on...
