JUst curious if Oakley actually knows that this site is around. Being that the members on this site are the biggest Oakley fans they should do something special for all of us. Like release an O-review exclusive pair of glasses. That would be the coolest thing ever if they did and only made them available to members of this site.

They are very aware of this site, as is their lawyers. That's why we're not allowed to post pics of unreleased items. I have heard stories that Oakley CS reps actually refer customers to this site for info. They also use it themselves. Also, if Jim Jannard is a member here, there's a pretty good chance everyone over at 1 Icon knows we exist. As for members only glasses, I doubt it. We represent a fraction of a percent of their sales, so I can't see it ever happening. It would be pretty cool though.

When he says we've tried, he means we've tried SEVERAL times...its just not in the cards as of right now.

What happened to the idea of VUTT, doing us up some customs with "O-REVIEW" on the lense? Didn't we decide on Rust/Fire GC?

The problem is that it's always a "what would you like for an 'official' O-Review pair?" and not "this is what we're going to make as the official O-Review pair, do you want to order one?"
Personally, I don't care what it is. If Dann were to choose an official O-Review pair, I'd sign up and buy one.

Just my $0.02USD.

I definetely agree that any pair for the O-review would be awesome. I know that we are only a small portion of there actual sales, but we are definetely the most gung-ho of there buyers. We should be able to get something for being completely insane for Oakley!

Like Jamey said, Oakley is well aware of the site, employees at differnt levels in the company check the site, some daily, some from time to time.

Like someone told me, its also helpfull for Oakley to get real impressions/opinions/imput by their customers.

Its one of the reason, that its better to PM Dann before you released infos/pictures that have not yet been released by Oakley first...

Last thing we need, is some idiot giving us a bad reputation because he's telling everyone about uranium iridium and releasing new models name while thinking he is clever...

Lets have some common sense. If the word comes out such as in Runners World magazine that a waterproof Thump is going to be introduced at the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon and pictures are taken and posted on the web as prerace publicity they enter public domain. Should I have checked with Dann before posting pics of the female wearing the Flak Jacket during the race?

I think not. Oakley loves the publicity and the product buildup which is why they use major sporting events such as the Tour De France, Olympics and the Ironman for product teasing.

I agree with John. We here at O-review spend more money in the product compared to those who just visit Oakley once in a while(duh!!) so I think maybemake one thats called an "o-review member special" it dont really gotta be a metal or a wire. could just be an O matter:-)

In my interview for a job at the Montreal O-Store, the first question was : ''So tell me about this O-Review website...''

I'm not trying to be a downer here, but you new guys weren't here for the 2 or 3 times this was brought up and tried. It didn't go very smoothly and nothing resulted from it.

Also, if you guys stepped back a second and thought about what you're thinking from a logistical standpoint, youd realize how ridiculous of a task youre asking for.

If Oakley, for some CRAZY reason, were to put out an O-Review custom, how would they get it to each os us on here specifically. What about the regulars on here that don't talk very much? Which stores would they or would they not send these to? What frame? What lense color? How could they stop non-members from getting them?

The list goes on and on. Its just not happening guys, and besides, if you really want a custom pair, just make it in the OCE and get a laser-etching. There are a few members who already have.

You can argue the common sense of when the proper time to post a new model is all day, but you're not the one getting phone calls from the lawyers.

And as for a sig model, we've been through this several times. Oakley doesn't really owe us a favor for this website, and lesser so to all the hundreds of lurkers who may suddenly give us their first post when a unique pair of glasses show up. Most will end up on ebay anyway. It will probably never happen unless someone on that end decides what the model/colorway will be and takes an order. I don't think we've really helped Oakley's sales. The only people that have made money off this site are the Singapore ebayer's who read up on the latest trends and learn about 'first gen ruby' so they can make a killing.

P.S. Nice disclaimers near the footers now!! Just another example of the lawyers influence I would imagine...In one way or another...

i agree, those asian dude's are killing people with prices.
and for a o-review pair, it think the people reponsible for this site can see like oke we have so many members, this group won't qualify to get a pair. the rest go thru a screening like who contribute to the site in one way or another and make a group og 50 i quess or 75 and ask each if they are interested and recieve payment. and sent it to them. one color combo.

I agree! I'm still liking the idea of a O-Review custom! But maybe this should be put in a thread of it's own. Is the VUTT custom still in progress or has that been terminated?

VUTT model is dead.

If there's a custom in the works, Dann will let it be known.
