This whole thing is starting to remind me of the sports card trade back in the late 80's/early 90's. People were willing to pay outragest prices for cardboard. Now none of that cardboard is worth anything.
Well said. I'm glad someone also sees the danger. I drew the same comparison in another thread but with comics instead of sports cards. When the Gascan and all its analogues go out of style and discontinued, the Flores GCs' popularity and impact (along with its price) will move to the background with little consequence. The impact on Oakley collecting due to the appearance of speculators, however, will remain for years to come.
Let's just hope the retailers don't jump into the speculation and buy tons of product that they think may somehow increase in value. Doing that will just ensure they end up with tons of product they won't be able to sell. That's the other part of the formula that kills collecting.
