Nice. You have to warn Rick before posting threads like these though.

Now that is interesting. As anti-custom as I am, I have to admit that this kind of thing intrigues me. As does Lee's Emerald Penny. It's putting ruby lenses in a Finito frame that gives me the nightmares. I'd love to hear how this thing came about Bruce. Did you do it yourself? I'd be interested to see how those look in a carbon frame.

Here is a little history behind that lens (at least from my perspective even without owning it)

-Mike Martone posted it up for sale for around $85 locted in this:

http://o-review.com/forum_detail.asp?ID=2817

-Bruce bought it and looks like he was going to sell it to Longshot but it didn't happend

What happened Jason?
as for me, I turned down the sale.

then months later...
-Bruce agreed to trade to me but didn't happened because he decided to trade to CFER instead.

-so finally, Cfers got the lens.

right Chris?

I think it was cut from M Frame lenses like most of them were.

Yup, those were cut from and M Frame lens. I am still working on doing it myself. I know another member has Romeos with +Red, but I don't want it to take 2 hours to make one set. Very interesting how much traveling they have done!

It look cool, but I would have done it with a polished frame and have all the rubbers replaced with blue ones.

I decided it was too much for my tastes and I couldnt decide which from I would put it in.

I am however looking for a +RED set of these like Initaltech was selling on eBay.

I've put this out there before, but here it goes again:

I have all the tools necessary to do this, the problem is getting material to practice on. If anyone has trashed M frame or Blade lenses they would like to donate, I will cut a good lense for you for FREE (you provide the lens) when I perfect the process. I am close, very close to being able to do this with some consistency, I just need material.

PM me. Please.

Some good things to practice on are lab goggles. I work in biotech and my last company I got a bunch of lab goggles that looked like M Frames. Popped the lenses out and started practicing with my dremel.

get the crappy safety shooter glasses or rack glasses from wal mart like all the construction guys wear...should be close...definitely not the same quality though...could be the materials that don't pass x ray that get ground up and sold off by Oakley though.

can half jacket lenses be used to cut juliet lenses out of?

I think the jury voted a negative on hj lenses fitting for a juliet lens cut. even the xlj was supposedly too short on even the best/clostest angle.

Being the owner of InitialTech, I can tell you for sure HJ lenses (XLJ or Standard) will NOT fit onto a Juliet anyway you cut it. Unless, of course you were cutting it to do a Vented Juliet lens. :o)

HJ lenses, however, will fit the Penny nicely.

Nice to see InitialTech cutting custom lenses again. Welcome to the OR, BTW.
