I have considered to use it as Rx frame, but it's just a bit too large for me. So, it's gonna be sunnies!
As former optician I have acces to whatever I might need to cut larger lenses into the frame so it choice is...huge.

Clear Gold Iridium would be cool, but I have no idea where to get those lenses.

We need a Clear Fatcat and Monster Dog now...

Suggestion for any of you planning to try this too: remove the icons and soak the frame in turpentine or paint thinner briefly before you give them a bath. The paint will come off with virtually no effort.

But if you do it like that, the downside is that some of the glue on the frame (where the Icons used to be) wont stick anymore, so maybe new glue will be needed and after that; no more changes...

Thats why, I always do it with warm water.

I usually find that the glue comes off with the icons, rather than sticking to the frame itself.. but yeah, that'd be a problem.

my matt black monster dog started peeling after this thread pops.

now the inner arms are polished black. i'm already thinking of stripping off the whole thing.

can't wait to see a polished black MD with persimmon lens.

I started clearing a Fat Cat last night based on the MD Eric did. After a few hot water baths and paint removal attempts its at %60-70 cleared. All the thicker paint was easy and the lighter colors near the bottom are a pain. It does seem as though there are parts where there was never paint at all if it was one the other side. Inside lower stems and outer lower orbitals and the nose pieces. Hopefully in a day or two we''ll be 100% clear. I just let it continue to soak all day in room temp water until i can get home and hot water it again.

Yeah its a pain, thats why dvd commentary helped me a lot lol.

Theres might be some fine traces you wont be able to remove; thats the paint that will have been absorbed by the frame, but overall its should be 98% clear in the end.

Good luck Phil.

Does anyone know if this can be done with any other Monster Dog frame color?

EDIT: I got my answers from Phil in this thread

A little addition after clearing a pair of Fat Cats and hot water wasn't enough.

--

Acetone!

After a few hot water treatments to strip the thicker layers of paint and when you get to the paint the thins out to near clear is when to start this. Use cotton q-tips and nail polish remover. Swipe the frame with the acetone going back and forth over the still painted ares a few times and rinse. Then repeat on other sections. Keep rinsing often though as I don't know what acetone may do to the o-matter, but mine looks perfect. You'll even see the q-tip turing brown as it takes the paint off then you know to get a new q-tip.

i took my brown fade/gold iridium monster dogs, and got all the brown off to make a clear w/gold icon md.

pretty much every lens looks good in it.

i prefer: gold iridium, emerald or ruby.

now if only i could get ahold of a 24k monster dog lens.heh

find me a 24 spike and I can make you a 24k dog, but I think you can get the gold iridium as the BTO offering from the stores. Not displayed, but available. I can cut it if it is big enough!

I need a black fade, I will gladly swap it out with you for something else like a whiskey that should work...
