You raise a very valid point Josh. Earthquake insurance is ridiculously expensive. I asked a dude a work about it and he actually laughed at the suggestion. I keep them in a pretty solid old Chinese chest and when away from the apartment in a safe. I kind of look at it like this: if a big one was to hit and take out my collection, I would probably be gone too. I have them insured for theft/fire and flood though. *knocks on wood*

I have to get a policy for my collection too. I was just curious because we share similarities with being prone to earthquakes. Mine stay in the cabinet which needs to be anchored to the wall in case of tipping...

I don't have anchors, but it's really heavy. It would take a big one to tip that sucker over. *knocks on wood again* My policy comes as part of my rental package. Not a great deal when you consider what rent is. Anything under $1000 is covered without question and anything over a grand must be preapproved.

BTW: Japan registers on average, 4 quakes a day. Most are too small to detect, but it is always rockin' and rollin' over here. You definitely get used to it, but it does sit in the back of my mind sometimes.

I disagree - the Double Stands angle back a bit naturally - but they are easy to adjust. The angle makes removal of the bottom pair easier....

Ah - ok - I misunderstood....the single stand should be angled according to eye level - i.e. whatever angle it is being displayed/viewed.

Well, as some of you may remember, I was going to liquidate my collection as a down payment for a house.

http://o-review.com/forum_detail.asp?ID=3404

Good news, the collection recieved a call from the Governator (Thanks, Arnold) and got a "stay of execution". Just moved into a new house last month and last night finished the collection corner.

Here are a few pics so far...
