Seams to me they totally drift away from functional, sportive eyewear. It's all about fashion.

What you think about that?

That's pretty much the opinion around here. Gascan looks interesting, but Riddle is just out there.

Large pictures are up now BTW.

And Rage, head over to the User Info page and pick a new icon, I've changed them a bit so some of the old ones won't work.

They are more fashion forward designs. I was told that the Riddle is actually for the ladies only. I do like the Gascan.

I actually like the way the Riddle looks. I'm anxious to see what it looks like on.

Here's a pic of a guy wearing Riddle (or is it the Riddle??): http://oakley.com/about/jp_auclair/

Front page of Oakley.com has a guy wearing the Gascans as well.

Well, you might as well start on the original Frogskin, Four (S), WHY series, the Wire series, etc. etc. In terms of functionality I can see Riddle being better than most of the Frogskins given the wide range of the lens. It also has most Jackets beat there too, except for their unobtanium arms.

Whether they look like sporty eyewear is another matter entirely.

Just my 2 cents. I do agree I'm not quite sure of the new look some of this eyewear is taking; I'll have to try some of them on.

Yeah, I think they're the Riddle that guy is wearing. I was just told they were designed more for girls. I've been looking to try a pair myself though just to see how they look.

From the Gascan description:

Two lenses are cut from the curve of a single lens shield, then mounted in the frame to maintain the original, continuous contour.
Seems they'll have Polaric Elipsoid tech rather than XYZ. Odd.

But it also says "Peripheral vision is maximized by XYZ Optics®, an innovation that maintains visual clarity at all angles of view."

??? I don't know what to believe anymore...

Hmm, maybe the single frames have XYZ too. Well it's Toric rather than Spherical.

M's and Zero's have XYZ in a single lens, so why not the "cut from one lens" GasCan?

I understood that Pollaric Ellipsoid only pertained to the round or domed lenses like on the Wisdom.

Pollaric Elipsoid means the lens is cut from a cylinderical piece of plutonite. Two lensed glasses are usually cut from spherical stock.

no no! i finally figured this out, and here it is:

the dual-lens glasses use spherical optics, so that there's a portion of a sphere of lens at constant distance from your pupil

supposedly polaric ellipsoid is even better, and it's for the single shield-lens designs. instead of a sphere, they take a portion of an ellipsoid, which has even less distortion. as you may be aware, an ellipsoid has two foci, and i imagine those are located at the lenses of your eyes.

so the shield lenses aren't cylindrical, but perhaps nearly so.`

went to my OPD today (or rather yesterday afternoon... it's 2:00 in the morning) and they had the GasCan and the Bottlecap. i was really hoping the GasCan would fit my face... but no luck. it's my wide head and flat Asian nose dilemma again. :-(

that said... as cool as the photos of the GasCan is, it loks cooler in the flesh... i'm really bummed out it doesn't fit me, but then i kinda expected it not to anyway. the Bottlecaps were cool as well... a bit chunkier looking than Half Jackets.
