Few Splatter Frames are coming. Here's just one that made its way online so far.

I know there's a Splatter Celeste (color we saw recently on the Field Jacket) Jawbreaker, but I think there were some other Active/Lifestyle.

I have my reserves, the originals will be hard to beat or compare to for this reboot. With that said, I am glad they continue to looking to the old school for inspiration.

I Think it is part of lack of new ideas, or the lack of allowance to bring out new creative stuff... :(

I would offer it may be the oversaturation of the uninspired models rather than a lack of inspiration. There have been some really cool new items released in recent years, namely the Flight Jacket (I see a hint of a Star Trek style spaceship from the side profile) as well as the more functional Flak 2.0, Radar EV and Jawbreaker (the contoured venting was long overdue and very welcome, I think).

On the other hand, the seemingly endless slew of lifestyle and active models with painfully similar features and colors may have overbalanced what would have otherwise been solid product lines. I know they can't just go back to the days when they only had ten models available at a time, so it's just something I have to live with. But it does help to create the perception of lack of inspiration when only one model in a release seems to stand out in its own right.

At the same time though, I think they should celebrate their heritage every so often, as many other brands and companies tend to do. The only real question would be how Oakley chooses to present these offerings, as myself and many others here get the impression these releases are seen as less of a celebratory addition and more of a knee-jerk reaction to sales. The better they present the releases, and the more they try to out-do the older colorways, the better the new products will be seen.

I feel like there's been a bit of a retro celebrating going on 13 years now, starting with the 2005 return to the Classic logo, and then shifting into full gear with the Frogs and various throwback prints of the Oakley Goggle, B1B pattern, fingerprint, now splatter. Most can be fun pickups though, but I really don't care for the glasses made from old molds. There's a reason the original models were discontinued at one point.

True - but that doesnt necessarliy have to be a bad reason. For example - The Palace Mumbo. All I can see that was wrong with the original was the brittleness. Honestly they shouldve used the same stuff they made Eyeshades out of. Even a thirty year old frame can be bent and twisted into all kinds of contoursion..

So - a Mumbo that is not brittle..? Awesomeness :D

I think they're still about a month away. Usually around that long after showing up on the wholesale sites.

Anyone get any news yet?

Still can’t find a thing on these other than a few pages that we all know about.

I thought they might be like the Retina Burn, Atomic Orange and Antifreeze Radars and be like a limited edition TDF release but there's no price up charge and all I've seen were the pics from CoolFrames.com but nothing really yet, unfortunately.
