It would be great if the lenses were close or even compatible. But I won't hold my breath even though it would seem like the practical cost-effective thing to do. Meh, i'm just bitter there isn't a stable stock for sale anymore.

Speaking of which ... Anyone have the sizing info on the Shocktube? I've looked at all the pics I could find and I don't see the numbers. Is this thing in the ballpark of a 61•18?

Not really a switchlock

Switchlock served two purposes. 1) to allow quick change and 2) to avoid the lenses having to be pressure fit. Normally lenses are popped in and have to be held in place, but with a frame that separates, it can be cradled a little more loosely since the pieces would physically have to separate in order for it to come out.

This seems to be fulfilling point #2 if the quick change isn't a priority.

I favor switchlock specifically for point #2. I never really believed that the lens switching was ever actually "fast", only that it seems to keep stress off the frame compared to non-switchlock lens changing.

Plus i'm careful regardless :)

Received my black/black Shocktube yesterday. A pretty solid release. I like the reverse thru bolt to show the torx screw. As a wild fan of Jawbone and Split Jacket, I felt this was an easy jump to purchase item.
Overall very pleased. My 2 cents is a size and fit very similar to Jawbone. Light, no earsocks, some unob inserts on nose piece. One difference I seem to notice on the fit is that there seems to be a slight pitch forward on the orbitals, creating a snug fit near the cheeks and a slight opening at the eyebrows.

oogie That's the pair I want too! I wish the would've made the bolts match the icons though. Those would've looked sick especially with the reversed bolt on there:)

Far too kind ... plenty of pairs look horrid on me, I just left feelings of shame, self-conscience and good taste behind me long ago when it comes to eyewear.

Lex, I stuck with the pair for a few days straight before shelving them for normal rotation. Outside of the slight pitch forward in the orbitals that I mentioned, I don't really have any complaints. I found them comfy for normal wear. I was a bit worried on the long term comfort without any earsocks, but didn't really have any issues. I might still give a slight edge to the Jawbones/Split Jackets for total comfort - but nothing on the Shocktube is concerning either.

I know Rich got his pair recently as well, would love to hear his comments.

My Shocktube fit my melon perfectly. I too was a little worried about the lack of earsocks but so far so good. I'm diggin'em!

Thanks Oog,
Rich how do you find the pitch forward?

Im worried its gonna feel too weird for me. but really want to grab a pair. I just know these wont make it to the UK for me to try on first.

The pitch doesn't bother me at all Lex. No complaints here.

Yeah, Lex - go ahead and jump. Or, wait for an OD Green pair to drop and cut a deal on Rich's tan pair. :)

Don't let my 'pitch' issue sway you too much, it was really my attempt to be relatively unbiased in the face of a new release and with a lot of love for the JB/SJ to contrast against. It didn't really bother me during the course of wearing it, and is a great buy on the SI site.
