Hey everyone, I've been a member here for a bit and a oakley collector for years. On the side I do a lot of hobby work and recently picked up a laser engraver for some projects. I got the idea to engrave lenses like Oakley does. I was pretty successful and thought you guys may be interested in this service? The picture I uploaded is of a Florida Gator on the Florida Gator Minutes. I did this logo and you can see the detail. It looks much better in person! Thought this service could help offset the money i spent on the machine! Ha. So my thought is, 20.00 for a single engraving on one lens. That includes setup and everything. Just PM me the details you want. Any copies of the same logo would be just 5.00 dollars extra. Let me know if you guys are interested! by the way.. these look way better in person. Much more crisp.

Could you do a New York Knicks logo?

This one:

Or this one:

Nice work. Look forward to seeing what others come up with. May look into getting one too.

Odd question: Can you engrave the entire lens? For instance, can you expand the Florida Gators engraving such that it fits the entire lens rather than a small portion of it? While you can't see out of the lens, it'd make a good display item.

I'm with the rest of the gang, this can open all kinds of possibilities! I'm interested as well. Do you different type styles to choose from?

I will try to engrave the full lens. I for sure engrave a lens like a frog skin with not much curve. Ill engrave one of my scratched lenses tommorow full and see how it comes out.

As with image type. Still working on that, but looks like any high res will work. But it would be much easier the file being a vector (*.eps, *.ai, ext)

As for font types. Basically any windows font will work. But if you send me a vector or picture, no matter wgat the font, it should engrave it.

This machine can cut upto 20x24" and can cut like 3/8 plex and can engrave aluminum ext. so if anybody has some ideas for display ideas ext. easily cut out oakley logos.

Could you cut thin gauge steel? Not etch, but cut?

Not steel i don't think, but i could cut aluminum. I also have a large CNC router that can cut aluminum. from sheets prob up to 1" thick.. just requires lots of shallow passes. Why what are you thinking?

Aluminum might work.

I'm looking to cut several hundred little logos (fits inside of a 7/8" diameter circle) out of possibly 26 gauge material.

Racer, I should be able to do those.. not sure exactly how much that would cost. Id need a exact amount you need plus let me see the design. id also have to go and start pricing out the material.

Well, the full lens engraving worked on these! Which i believe were lenses for "unknowns" Came out VERY sharp even with the curvature of the lens. Here is a pic..

now for cutting a lens, does anybody have any files of the exact lens drawings? They have to be perfect obviously.

also here is a vid

Like i was talking about display items, I was at a Oakley Vault tonight and they had the Infinite Hero collection on display. The had the new Infinite Hero X-Metal Coin on display in a cool plexi glass case. So I thought id reproduce it. Here are the pics of the display case. Im looking for better screws for this kit but I'm thinking i would sell these for $30.00 what do you guys think? You can change the "oakley" logo on the bottom to the "O" or leave it off. Its just a vinyl decal I cut out with my plotter.

That's pretty cool. However if I may give you a tip, put in the screws from the front. And use a countersunk hex screw (Y)

Oh, and maybe it looks more crisp when you laser etch the Oakley logo in the middle plate instead of using a decal :)
