My frame also had the arm fall off. All sorts of bother getting it warrantied as I bought from an Outlet store.
Not impressed, to be honest.
Frame: Titanium/ Titanium Pewter

Having owned non-titanium Square Wire frames it was such a relevation when I got my hands on a pair made from titanium. Weighing in at 18 grams they are light enough to wear all day without discomfort. I find the curvature of these frames to be perfect for my face and the adjustable nosepads and ear stems (as long as you're careful) and spring hinges mean that they fit me perfectly. I thought these were that good I ended up buying another three pairs.
Between the frame colors I prefer the Titanium over the Pewter. The Pewter also shows damage more readily - having dropped both frame colors, the lighter base colour of the frames in the Pewter shows through when the coating is scratched or chipped, unlike the Titanium color.
In the Titanium color, these are my all time favorite Oakley sunglasses.
As for the lens tints, I'll do separate reviews in the lenses section.

These were my 3rd pair of Oakleys ever. When I got these, I had a pair of Half Jacket XLJs and a pair of Romeo 2.0s. I wanted to get a pair of sunglasses to wear while walking between buildings at work. But they also had to look professional with a dress shirt and khakis. These fit the bill nicely. In hindsight, I probably didn't need to shell out the extra $50 for polarized lenses since I don't often drive with them. Then again, these are the only ones in my collection that really fit well when I'm wearing my full-faced Arai helmet. So they do have some benefit in filtering out reflected glare while I'm riding.
The spring hinge is really the killer feature on these sunglasses. They make them comfortable for heads of all sizes. Even my mutant-sized noggin is comfortable in these. The only real draw back is that, for their size, they really should feel a little lighter. If I were to redesign these, I'd probably make the embossed Icons and stretch logo (across the nosebridge) a contrasting color.

I got the Square Wires off the internet used, simply because I wanted a pair of wires. I think I only saved about $30 off the retail price and in retrospect, it wasn't really worth it. The fire lens, first off, has a green tint and makes everything look murky. Had it a different lens, I would probably like them more, and in fact I tried to switch G30, but they didn't fit. The frame is nice and sturdy, and the spring hinge is somewhat cool, but I ended up giving this pair away since I never wore them.

They should all have Oakley Square Wire on the arm. Also a # under the right ear sock. No # there not real !!! The # is for Frame color & lens combo. the # will look like 71-106G Some of them will have a sticker H with little water droplets it stands for Hydrophobic. I hope this will help you so you don't end up with fakes.
Frame: Dark
Lens: Black
These are just good wires. They are well-built and a good fit. Unless the C-Wire they still look good today. Although they are a bit small for the modern taste.
The Dark / Black combination is a very nice one. Basic and nearly a black shade. Fits to everything.

I actually saw them for the first time here on o-review,thanks to the remarkable job Dann has done over the years(I first traced the site in early '05).But the moment I saw them,I just stuck with them.and apart from this,I was lucky enough to find them in a store not far away. What can I say? They are light sturdy, durable, their appearance is killer.Unlike the gold iridium lens, that doesn't match with everything, the vr28 polarized peer matches solid strong, and is much smoother to the eye. They also have rootbeer earsocks that make them special and the fit a just perfect. But I especially like their shape.Unlike the c wire that don't fit me at all,'cause of my round face, they are just perfect on me,and they're one of the three old wires that fit me that much(with the other two being the a wire and the wiretap).Oakley sure has really released a lot of classic stuff, but I feel no sorrow at all for not being able to wear the minutes because of their smaller size.I've got the square wires to incompensate me.They're so great.

After buying a pair of Ti C-Wires (and loving them dearly) I came across a good deal for a pair of Ti Square Wire 2.0's. I did at one time own a pair of T-Wire 2.0's, and liked the look of them, but never really got into them due to the lack of a spring hinge. I've been searching for a pair of these for a while, since the price of them are usually very high due to scarcity (and demand). But, behold, a pair came my way and I am in awe!! From the 'Titanium' scrolled behind the nose-bridge to the cool little applique 'O' emblems on the temples, the true 'titanium' color and the much-needed spring hinges, these are one of the finest pairs of Oakley's to come off the assembly line! Overall, not much more could be asked other than perhaps a few different lens color options. At about 1/2 the weight of the C5 alloy counterparts and a substantial increase in rigidity, these are THE best pair of 'square wires' that Oakley has ever produced!

Just got these Brand New 23-4-2010 from a Florida Seller through ebay, got them sent International Post to me here in Australia, An extremely Hi-tech looking pair of optics! Very sophisticated and cool combined! I love the small chic styling! The spring hinges is a top feature. I Put them on today and instantly got attention from the chics as I was coming home from work! The lenses in Gold Iridium are great for partly cloudy and overcast days. Don't know so much about bright sun, where I think a dark grey base would be more appropiate than the brown base of Gold Iridium. But these will be with me as my overcast day glasses for as long as they hold! So nice!
Frame: Square Wire 2.0

I've bought three pairs of these in two years. Comfort/optical quality is superb. Why the "3" rating? The spring hinges fail and break for absolutely no reason, on every pair. I move the glasses from the top of my head to my eyes and back. Oakley fixes them; my latest pair broke within two months of warranty expiration. Excellent RMA service, but shame on Oakley for charging $200 for a set with this known problem.
Frame: light
Lens: black iridium
Loved them, but after 10 months the right hinge popped out/spring broke one day for no reason. so I am sending them back under warrenty, even though by the time I go around to sending them in they were out of the warranty period. nice service.

Lens: Fire Iridium Polarized
I got a great deal on these (viva craigslist!) and really like them for casual wear. With the springe hinges they are very comfortable and being a wire I can tweak them for my fat nose to get a perfect fit. The coverage is good enough for driving and most general wear despite the smallness of the lenses. They are just big enough to not look totally goofy on my face, any smaller and they wouldn't work for me.
The fire lenses scream "look at me!" which I really like, most of the time. I also like the polarized version of this lens better than non-polar. For some reason it is just more pleasant to look through and of course blocks glare very well. The matching orange earsocks are a nice touch. My only complaint with the lenses is that the fire iridium scratches easily.
Overall I like these because they manage to get attention while still being a classy/casual frame.

These sunglasses look spectacular and this is all due to the fire lenses if you are looking for a pair of sunglasses to turn heads then these are the pair.
They are very comfortable due to their unobtanium components and very ligth. However they are a larger fit than some of the other oakleys which I own.

After having the C-5 version of this eyewear, I decided to buy the Titanium edition. Since I couldn't find with VR28 Blue Iridium Polarized, I bought it with Titanium Iridium. And how glad I am that I chose this color combo.
The dark pewter frame and the bright metal "O" icons are simply amazing. The laser etching on the lens is also a looker! So, I'm pretty sure I don't want to wear my old C-5's as often as these glasses.

These glasses are a classic smooth unitary design that fits very well (due to its spring hinge design) for a small to medium-size face. The lens are very good for bright conditions. It also folds up neatly and fits in any small case for very easy carrying. I like this design a great deal. I have three of them.
Frame: Silver
Lens: Ice Iridium
I bought this from a fellow member (thanks Paul) in used condition. When I opened the box I noticed that this glass is quite heavy compared to my A-Wire. On the other hand it also feels stronger too. The overall fit is better than the glass mentioned above and the spring hinges are also a nice extra.

I really like this frame and that's really strange because I've never looked good with any kind of 'square' frame. I think that it's becuase they are surprisingly small and a lot more rectangular than square. The fact that they are really small though does mean the coverage isn't all that great so not for rally bright days. The spring hinges work great and I haven't had any frame with problems. I also like the fact that there are a lot of colorways to choose from.
Frame: Dark
Lens: Black Iridium Polarized
These are a great pair of sunglasses. These are my very first pair of Oakleys and I do not regret one bit in buying them. Sure they're a bit expensive but totally worth it. I really haven't had a chance to try out the polarized effects of 'em, but I'm sure they'll be handy since I'm near the water all the time. I've only got one bad thing to say about these, because of its design, the curvature of the frame had a tendency to have your eye lashes touch the lenses. I don't think I have long eyelashes, but just a minor thing to point out. It also leaves smudgy oil marks from your eyelashes. Yeah, I know, what in the world?
But in all, real conservative look, fits real nice with the spring hinges. Good for the small/medium face.

This is an excellent, lightweight, and good looking pair of glasses. Ti Iridium is better looking than Black. Coverage is a little lacking, but it still gets 5 stars.
Frame: Titanium Pewter
Lens: Titanium Iridium
What initially drew me to this particular colorway was the fact that the "O's" on the temples stand out due to the the color contrast between the them and the frame. Once I tried them on, I was hooked. In my opinion the Titanium Iridium is the perfect lens because it's so close to black in appearance, but when looked through it brightens things up therefore making it equally good for lower light situations. The frame is also near perfect in both shape and color, not to mention very lightweight courtesy of the titanium.

The look is of a street racer, and this was the first pair I bought for me fiancee. She really lvoes it, but somehow after a year and a bit, the arm socket on the left side popped out. I have to pay $25 Canadian to replace the whole frame since they won't do repair jobs. Plus, the orange ear sockets are no longer available and I was told only Black.
Frame: Dark Carbon
Lens: Black Iridium
What a classic. It's a shame these are being phased out because for many of us little-head types it was the only wire that worked. Great look- a trad wire frame, but with a subtle Mad Science edge in the thick logo'd nosebridge and flaring earstems.
Bring them back!
Frame: Dark
Lens: Black Persimmon
Very good-looking lens/frame combination. I've been a Square Wire fan for some time now, so I decided to add this one to the collection. The Dark frame is a basic, no-nonsense color and goes together well with the orange lenses. Black Persimmon provides the same contrast-enhancing view as standard Persimmon or HI Persimmon with a lower-key appearance due to the lightly mirrored Black Iridium coating. Great for cloudy or hazy days.
Frame: Dark/Black Iridium
Lens: Black Iridium
Not a very big fan of these. I like the Big Square Wires better. My head is just way to big for these. Suprisingly, I felt like these had pretty good eye coverage for being small. They actually felt comfortable even for my big head.
Frame: Dark
Lens: H. I. Blue
A bit on the small side for me, but great styling. The square wire seems very harmonic in its design. But the reason i use them, allthough a bit on the small side, are the lenses, they SMOKE!! I am hooked on H.I. Blue and until i get another frame with theese lenses the Square Wires will be in rotation. Not to sure i like the spring hinges though - i prefer the tight fit of the non springe hinge version.

Lens: Black Iridium
Great pair of sunglasses. Very light, don't feel it on your head. Great visibility with no limitations what so ever.
Too bad they aren't that strong. Had this one bent a couple of times.
Frame: Dark
Lens: H.I. Blue
I'd heard a lot about the H.I.lenses and how good they were in low light conditions. This is true for the most part, except that they're useless at night or indoors because of the internal reflections and flare caused by artificial light sources. I was hoping to use them for night driving. but that's not possible at all. Nice to look at though.
Frame: Dark s/h
Lens: H.I Blue
Beautiful looking sunglasses, love the dark frame and the blue reflection on the lens. best of all is when you put these on, miraculously the sun comes out and the whole world brightens up.
seem to need more cleaning than other lenses but well worth a look. Call these my happy glasses

Lens: Titanium Iridium
I've had these sunglasses for about two weeks now, and I have to say I'm really glad I bit the bullet and got them. When I got these in February of 2006, and there was only one place that still had them in stock (backcountry.com).
The titanium frame was a must for me, since the reduced weight makes a wearing them much more comfortable. I compared the weight of the titanium frames with the C5 alloy frames at a local store, and there is a considerable difference. I highly recommend the light-weight titanium frames for anyone who prefers metal to plastic and will be wearing their sunglasses for any length of time.
The titanium iridium lenses were surprisingly good. They add nice contrast to blues and reds. I was a little disappointed that they add a slightly yellow hue, but I soon grew accustomed to and now prefer how much gray they cut out. I should also note that they are very nice for bright conditions such as intense summer sun, or sunny and snow, but are also decent in lower light conditions.
Frame: Silver
Lens: Blue Iridium Polarized
One of the few pairs of sunglasses i've ever owned that showed no distortion and excellent sharpness from "corner to corner". Blue on silver, what can i say? Ever since i bought these sunglasses more and more people have been getting the same color because they just look so damn good. One word to Oakley, change the angle of polarization EVER SO SLIGHTLY, because as it stands the polarization really cuts out the contrast on LCD screens like debit-card keypads and LCDs on clocks. But overall, you haven't worn sunglasses until you have worn the SquareWire2.0 with polarized blue lenses.
Frame: Titanium Pewter
Lens: VR28 Blue Iridium Polarized
My third pair, these are the top of the food chain as Square Wires go. All the usual SW goodness like the nice fit and style with the incredibly light Titanium frame means you easily forget your even wearing them. The VR28 Blue polarized lense is now oficially my favourite, with it's warm "sepia" hue that somehow makes the world a better place to be in. If you're only ever going to get one pair of SW's, make it these.
Frame: Titanium Frame
Lens: Black Polarized
The wire series is Oakley's best use of Titanium. The weight of the X Metals can't be justified for the cost. All around these are my favorite Oakley's. I do like the increased contrast of the gold or titanium iridium lenses but there is nothing to complain about here. They certainly take a lot of the eye strain out of bright days. This is also the best fit I've ever experienced in the Oakley line. They hold tightly but I forget I even have them on sometimes. The only thing that anyone might have a problem with these is the coverage area. Some light will sneak in from some angles.

Lens: Persimmon Black Iridium
Been wanting a pair of low-light glasses for a while then got a good deal on these. You just can’t go wrong with the Square wire 2.0 SH frame. The Persimmon Black lenses are so good I find myself hoping for cloudy days. 5 stars doesn’t do these justice.
Frame: Titanium
Lens: Black Iridium Polarzied
I got these glasses about a year ago. I wouldn't call them a mistake because they are very well made and the lens is super clear/sharp. However, when I tested them in the store they seem to fit me well, but when I go out into the sun, I get alot of light coming thru the sides and top of the fame. Maybe its just my face. A nice pair of glasses just the same.
Frame: Dark
Lens: Black Persimmon Iridium
everything i've said about the Dark Square Wire 2.0 still rings true, and might i add that these are one of the most comfortable Wire frames Oakley makes. the Spring Hinge is secure but doesn't squeeze your head above the ears like the non-spring hinge Square Wire 2.0 does. the Black Persimmon Iridium lenses are very classy looking, and offers very nice contrast.
Frame: Dark
Lens: HI Blue
an absolutely beautiful pair of sunglasses. the Dark frame works best with the Square Wire 2.0, and feels much stronger and sturdier than my Silver/Fire Polarized pair for some strange reason. the HI Blue lenses are absolutely amazing, they make any cloudy day seem lively and inviting, and the blue mirror adds an Oakley edge.
Frame: Dark
Lens: +Red Iridium
The classic shape with universal appeal is made even better I think, with spring hinges. This particular combo is unusual and somewhat of a contradiction as it features the subtle deep blue/black (‘Dark’) frame with the oh-so-hard-to-miss +Red Iridium lenses. Personally I think these are more blue/purple/pink than red, though it really does depend on the angle you look at em from like with most Iridium’s. They’re pretty decent to look through and the 15% transmission along with the grey/green tint is good for most any lighting condition. I have found the +Red’s are very easily scratched so handle with care.
The fit is secure thanks to the SH’s though you probably wouldn’t wear these for high intensity sports and the lens coverage is minimal as with most wires. Hard not to get noticed in these so if you’re looking for something a little more classic and conservative try the Ice or Black Iridium versions.
Frame: Silver
Lens: Fire Iridium
Like most other Oakley wires, these are very lightweight, comfortable to wear and attractively designed. I'm not a fan of the Fire lens but those that are should appreciate the way the lenses match with the with orange Unobtanium on the earstems. It makes for an attractively eye-catching color combination. If the shape of your head dictates square frames, you'll love these.
Frame: Ti Pewter
Lens: Titanium Iridium
I got these a month ago, to replace my C-5 model (broke a spring hinge). They're much lighter- about half the weight without lenses.
This pair I immediately put my Rx lenses in, and they are incredibly comfortable. The finish looks a little better, too- I'm not completely sold on the Dark Carbon C-5 finish because it has a slight blue tinge to it.
Pricey, of course, but well worth the extra hundred bones if you're going to be wearing them all day.
NB: Rx lenses for the C-5 Square Wire won't fit perfectly in a titanium frame. The C-5 frames stretch a little, whereas the Ti is much more rigid, so an Rx lens with more than -5 power will pop out if you try to tighten the eyewire screws all the way. Tightening them halfway has worked just fine so far.
Frame: Dark
Lens: Black Iridium
My second pair of Oakleys; got 'em for free, in fact. I was originally going to use them as my primary sunglasses, and for about two months they worked out great. Subtle but sharp-looking style and narrow enough to fit my face (long but narrow). The original width squeezed a little but I bent the thinner portion of the wire under the earsocks so they wouldn't have to sit over or under my cap, and that solved the squeezing problem too. I've sold a bunch of them and they look good on most males, including teenagers. Not a fan of the way they look on women.
I switched mine to Rx later on (Ti Clear) and they turned out to be a little too heavy with the heavier Rx lens for everyday wear.
Frame: Dark
Lens: Black Iridium
These were my first pair of Oakleys ever, getting them after several months of contemplation. Its not too flashy, seeming to have one of those more classy, conservative looks. Yet, it still retains that distinctive Oakley edge we love so much. Great for formal occasions!
It also gives off such an authoritive air.
About the weight; a lot of people say that it's heavy. There's some truth to that, but after wearing X-Metals, I don't think its much of a problem at all. The spring hinges contribute to the comfortability of it as well.
I wouldn't say its a must, but its definitely a nice pair to have.

my bro's oakleys...i tried them on and can't say they fit my face perfect...but they are really nice...really light and spring hinges are great...a bit dark though but overall nice pair of classic glasses with the oakley twist, that makes it stand out from other ordinary glasses

My first pair of Oakley's. My dad brought them back from the states. It took me about a week of staring at oakley.com to make my decision but I defenitely wasnt disappointed. The solid black look together with the spring hinges make these look good and also makes them very versatile. Excellent for bright conditions.
Frame: Silver
Lens: Fire Polarized or Ice Polarized
i've got two sets of lenses for this frame, and switch them around once in a while. both the polarization works really well, cutting glare dramatically withouth making everything looking artificial. Fire Polarized's got a dark, greenish tint and tends to make things a bit monochrome. it's like a mix between a neutral lens and a contrast lens but doesn't do well in either catagory. but it's a really cool looking lens color though... the Ice Polarized has a nice, grey neutral tint and is much more understated than the Fire; both look great on the silver frames.
the frames itself however, doesn't seem to be as sturdy as other Wire models. the metal feels brittle and easily bent. i also had a problem with one of the nosepiece connection and the wire broke off the frames. Oakley replaced the frames and sent me a new pair, but still feels flimsy. as for the design, it's simple and not too flashy; nothing really stands out. i wished the lens shape and size would be like the previous version Square Wire, these are too small and let light in fairly easily, not to mention they look small on my face. i only bought them because i wanted something with Fire Iridium Polarized lenses, and i think these are the only Wires that has them.
Frame: Silver
Lens: Ice Iridium
got these from a local store. because i had to send my juliet off to US later in October. tried it in the store and instantly like the fit on my face(i'm an asian btw), best among other oakley available there that time. the only bad thing about it, is it sits too close and my eye lashes keep brushing against the lenses(flat nose problem). then there's the ice lens, it's really nice compared to the fire lens, neutral colour tint and not too dark. today, the 4th day i have it, i broke the nosepiece wire. it was hurting on one side and i kept adjusting them with my barehand until one of em broke off(i know, i'm an idiot for that). luckily, i called a local oakley distributor worker(i happen to know recently) and he's very helpful to replace my frame.
update: after getting a warranty replacement, i finally get it to a perfect fit from a local optic store. it fits really well. now the only downside is that i realise i should've gotten the titaniums ones instead of the C5 alloy(lol), cos this one feels heavy after prolonged wearing. but even if i wanted to get one, they're not available here.
Frame: Titanium
Lens: Titanium Iridium
Oakley's Ti wire frames are incredibly lightweight, and the natural titanium finish is beautiful. Titanium iridium lenses make a logical combination. The only reason I gave these a 4 and not a 5 is because the "TITANIUM" lettering on my pair is somewhat misaligned so that the M almost runs off the edge of the lens. The lettering is supposed to follow the lens contour and stay a few mm away from the edge. Not a big deal, but I would expect better quality control from Oakley.
Frame: Dark
Lens: H.I. Blue
I saw the HI Blue Fours while in Hawaii, and asked what other models that lens came in. They guy said it also came in a Square Wire, but was no longer made. I was tempted to by the Fours, but they also went out of production. I ended up getting the Wisdoms, but never really used them (Still have to work on snow days). Then finally per a suggestion when creating this site, I was shown a site online that was still selling them, and I was sold. They arrived a few days later and are a very beautiful pair of glasses. The dark frame looks very nice compared to most silver/pewter colored wire frames. The lenses are the real selling point. It's amazing how much they brighten everything up. You won't ever notice overcast days again with these on. They perform much like Gold iridium in terms of the contrast, even though those let in much less light. However, as good as these are in clouds, once the sun peeks out from the clouds, everything is then too bright, and you'll end up squinting a lot. The lenses tend to show every time an eyelash brushes up against it, and require constant polishing. The blue tint from the outside prevents you from looking like your just wearing yellow lenses, and gives it the Oakley edge.

Lens: Black Iridium Polarized
I decided to take a big step. After, having my Straight Jackets (polarized) stolen out of my car, I bought a pair of Why 3 Titanium Leather Gold Iridium Lens.
Those served me well for a year, but I missed the polarized advantage. So, I did something crazy, I bought a pair of the new Ti Black Iridium Polarized. It might just be me, but the clarity is by far better then the Straight Jackets ever were. And the Jackets were Black Iridium Polarized also. With the Ti's objects are sharper then they would be with or with out regular sunglasses. There is not blurry haze or dark spotting. Vision is cleaned up and blues, greens, and reds are more noticeable. Plus, the Ti's weigh less then the C5, so it easier on your nose and ears. I suggest if you get the chance, get a pair of the Ti's Polarized. You wouldn't be sorry.

Lens: High Intensity Blue
Got this pair from eBay... very hard to find. The spring hinges are great and keep these nicely planted on your head. My face shape more suited to the A-wires, but the HI Blue lenses sold me on these. HI Blue is like a high intensity yellow tint with a faint blue mirror coating. Perfect for overcast conditions... lots of gloomy days here in Michigan.
