The good thing about Oakley nowadays is they're trying to cater to many different segments. You've got the Split Jacket, JB and PB for the sportier stuff; Probation, Oil Rig, and Inmate for the streetwear; and things like the Hijinx and Antix is for the fashion segment. A few years ago, it seemed like Oakley was only catering to the fashion crowd. I'm pleased they're throwing love to everyone. While I'd go to other companies for streetwear, Oakley's my top choice for sportswear. There really is something for everyone.

As for the Probation, it's nice. Doesn't work on my face, but I like most of Oakley's Wires and the Probation is no exception.

The Probation in the way that it is considered fashion, keeps true to oakley origin. Remeber Oakley started with shielded Sunnies, it wasnt untl the frogskin that the lens split. The key difference is that they incorporate this into more than just a sport frame. So....they are not copying other companies, They set the standard decades ago before other companies were heard of, now they just redefine an age old Oakley Styling trend.

...they're throwing love to everyone.
Truth in text.

Want sports? You got Jawbone, Split Jacket, M Frame, Radar...
Fashion? Dispatch, Jupiter, Hinder, Taken...
How about Hardcore? X Squared, C6, Scalpel, Dangerous...

Seriously, what area is Oakley missing on, especially in recent months? Oakley's doing what any good business does - makes money. They cover as much of the market as is possible and profitable. But they also do it while reinventing the industry.

Regarding the Probation, it definitely takes its cues from the "fashionista" market. But it has enough unique features to stand alone in its own class. I liked how Luke put it - it has the versatility to be street or class.

In fact, I think I want to make that my next pair...be a good opportunity for a PW... "Street Cred & Savoir Faire"

Without being what people perceive as negative I think they need a couple Minute like /GC S smaller frames for people who cant fit most of the new ones...Minute and SJII which fit my small to Med head quite well are both being discontinued and telesales actually suggested Nike or Dragon to me as alternative...I haven't even seen Dragon glasses so have no frame of reference to what he was talking abtProbation fits but will have to wait til after taxes to even try them onSo all the stuff people like is GREAT on them I am not downing every product just wish they'd throw some love to smaller heads

They've thrown lots of love to the smaller heads, but they're usually not the frames that people "ooh" and "ahh" about.

Look at the Tightrope. No one talks about it but it's definitely a frame for smaller heads. Same with Splinter, Square Whisker, and maybe even the Ice Pick. Also, the Fives keep coming out with updates.

I think Oakley has the entire spectrum covered like the Whores said, just some frames and sizes typically get more attention from us...and they happen to be the larger frames. Looks like we got swept into the large fashion frames fad and didn't even know it. My Inmates and Hijinx tell me I have.

And let us not forget that this is by far the best pricepoint in the Wires. That's usually well-received...

Fair and constructive thoughts, ksgemini. I would say, however, that you won't have to worry about the timing of your taxes for the Probation. I just don't see any way that you would be keen on the Probation for fit or style.

Probably right...guess Ill have to see what next few months may bring I can't see them discontinuing Minute 2.0 without an intended "replacement" for too long. Apparently telesales doesn't know any more than people on here...may as well ask is the Hlbrook like a cross between Eyepatch and Jupiter...would someone with a smaller brain..I mean head find the lens resting on their cheek?
EDIT: This should be moved to new releases Sorry went OT

Finally. Ordered these Gold Prob's on 2/15. Got them today.

They are pretty much what I expected them to be. I do like them a great deal. Not sure how I'll like them against the Inmate I wear all the time - time will tell. Have a road trip coming up this weekend - be a good time to test.

The design reminds me of some of the stuff I was wearing in the early 90's. Very square with sharp edges. The first thought in my head when I put them on was that I looked like a Cylon from Battlestar Galactica - which I'm ok with.

They are lighter than the Inmate so should be easier on the nose on long trips. We'll see if they are still on top when I head to Vegas in a few weeks.

Surprisingly, my wife actually thought they looked good on me. (For the most part, she doesn't like the looks of most sunglasses on me, with the x-metal xx and juliet being the exception)

She did say though, that it looked kind of superhero-ish. Which, like Nik and the cylons, is ok by me. :D

So it looks like they're now on my want list.

Called into work uninterested yesterday and stayed home. Weather was awesome so I mowed my yard - first mow of the year. It was so nice out I then proceeded to mow 3 of my neighbors yards. Most of them are elderly and can't do it themselves.

My point to all this is I sported the Prob's all day in the wind and grass and... Gotta say - these things rock. Great coverage - good protection and extremely comfortable.

Highly recommend!

Took it off-road and shooting this weekend. While it's no VR-28 (obviously) it worked out well in all situations.

Tried and true - definitely an awesome frame.

I like how they look. Kind of like a Nanowire and an Oil Rig had a baby.
Actually, thought they also look a bit like Felons...

Anyways, precisely how much do these weigh???
