not that I saw. even the glasses that cyclops wears are just some dollar store aviators. ruby lenses of course.

He wears some odd glasses/blinders in the movie (edit: Non-Oakley, of course). Here's one:

You know, if I recall correctly, the scenes in the school building had Cyclops wearing those aviator-type glasses without blinders. I wonder why the need, all of a sudden...

The need for blinders or the need for those goggle-type glasses? I don't think Cyclops ever needed blinders, but it does look cool in the first 3 X-men movies. I think they're going back to what the comics show...him with just plain glasses. As for the goggle thing, well, that would be spoiling the movie. ;-)

Blinders, specifically.
I always figured that without the blinders, you'd still see these bright red beams coming from his eyes, but stopping at the lenses. So the blinders may not be needed for anything but aesthetics.
The way I understood it, the lenses don't stop the beams from emanating. It just stops them from going any further.

Can you tell that, despite my lack in education on the subject, I love dissecting the physics of things like this? =)
You should hear me on Ghostbusters. ::LOL::

Yeah, you pretty much got it. His beams still come out of his eyes and are reflected back to him (or the lens absorbs the beams, depending on which writer you want to go by). The theory is that you're supposed to be able to see the beams if you looked at his side profile.

So I wonder how these aviators are going to work in the movie.
One day to go...can't wait.

Not quite sure how it's working in the movie, but an aviator without blinders is a better choice, IMO. Blinders look much cooler, but seeing the optic blasts always being on and needing control is a stronger characterization point.

Having said that, nothing beats the modified Juliet and Penny in terms of being aesthetically cool.

I've been waiting to see Gambit on the big screen ever since the first movie in 2000! I'll be there for the first showing tomorrow! It is kinda cool that Gambit is in this one, and it works that his name was listed in Stryker's database in X2, since he plays heavily in this one!

As far as seeing any Oakley in the movie, if there is any, it would be at the very end, or anachronistic like Eric Bana's Ruby Juliets in Black Hawk Down, since this is set in the past (from the 1800's through about the 70's or 80's, up to the start of the first movie, from what I've heard). I know, I'm a geek!

I have seen the movie, it wont disappoint(except no O). The reason you are looking for, as far as the blinders, no blinders is in there. just wait, I wont spoil it. They dont explain it but you will figure it out.

I dressed up as 'Civilian' Wolverine for X2. I had the muttonchops, wife-beater, dogtag, cowboy boots...but I wore my Juliets too. People in line were like, "Hey Wolverine! What's with the shades?"
So I would say, "I clawed Cyclops and took his sunglasses--and his girlfriend."

Just got back from seeing the movie, and I really liked it. I will say that it varied from the comic storylines a lot, but it was a really good movie.

Unlike a lot of comic book fans, I don't go into a movie expecting the exact same storylines I've already read, and waiting to trash a movie if they change anything at all. I hate seeing people posting stuff on IMDB and other sites trashing the movie for changing plot points. I swear, it seems like some of these people go into the movie waiting and wanting to trash it! If you go into almost ANY comic book based movie expecting to see the comic storyline translated directly to the screen, you're gonna be disappointed! I just look at it as a different interpretation, and enjoy it for what it is, two hours of fun summer escapism.

I really like the way the producers tied it into X-Men and X2, but in subtle ways, so that if you haven't seen the other movies, it'll make for some great "a-ha" moments when you do.

BTW, this is another movie that you have to stay ALL the way through the credits for.
