Congrats on the purchase, ichibandidisan! Another member was looking at buying that a long while ago when it was first listed. We didn't know what it was back then and was hoping another member would pick it up so the mystery could be solved. Unfortunately, we now have more questions then answers! LOL.

It would not surprise me if they resulted from Oakley's "Sunglasses at Night" tour (or similar ventures) where students get to paint/redesign their own glasses. But I'll have no doubt the origins will remain a mystery for some time to come. Good luck in finding out where they came from.

Are you sure it's Gold Iridium?

Looks Clear-to-Emerald Transitions to me...or Emerald.

Especially with the base color which seems grey rather than bronze...

In any case, great purchase indeed, good for you!

Oak's explanation makes a lot of sense, so either a prototype or something that was created at a custom event to showcase.

In any case, its pretty unique, congratulations.

Anthony: please do when you get the chance, looks like a pretty wild one, that #15.

Thanks, Oak, Eric, Paul, Anthony et al.
The lenses are gold, and I've been tempted to wear it out a few times.
Anyway, whatever it is, I as a collector love it, and maybe that's what's most important, eh?
And yes, Anthony, please share with us pics of your #15.

Another Petterson comment: The Pettersons I have certainly seem to have a unique sort of feel to the frame. Sort of a rubberized feel instead of plastic. Not sure how it relates, but one of the started to rub a little of the finish off on the inside earstem, near the back where it rests against your head. Kind of a bummer to have a little finish rub off, but these things are what they are.

Anthony, great score on the #15. We should get the whole 'metallic' color series together as a complete line some day.

A rubber feel can be how the o-matter reacted to whatever paint was used. Or maybe just the paint itself. Esp on the ones covered in paint like yours Paul. Speaking of the above orange and green pair, those real close shots of the stems show ripples in the paint pointing to a spray job. I would think airbrush would be smoother. I can see it being from one of the events where artist worked on them.

Very nice, indeed. It's always pretty amazing to see the designs that were included in the Petterson 50. It's still pretty easy to get excited with the release ... each one as an individual design was both amazing genius and horribly aggravating. Almost up there with the David Flores thread, it's just exciting to revisit/relive.
