Hi everyone! it's been a long time since I've posted. Been busy busy busy. Recently started running, Radar paths are great for it... Any way I've started way off topic.

I want to get an idea what you all think of the Half-X, from lurking I've noticed a few of you saying your not too impressed. So are you feelin' em or not?

Personally I am I like the polarized ice irids.

I'm not feeling them!

Although, let's be honest here, you know most of us are going to grab at least one pair, each :)

I think it’s hard to make a call with out wearing the glasses or seeing them in person, but for sure I will be picking up a pair

Exactly Jesus, I haven't tried on a pair yet, but I'll pick one up for the collection though.

Saw them last week (Sunday). It should fit a lot of people well, and a lot of non-collectors should like it if they can get past the sticker shock. It's light for an X-metal, but I can't be sure it's lighter than an R2. Design is kinda boring IMO. I give it 7/10. I'll probably pick one up when there's a special edition of some sort.

Pretty much take a Half Wire 2.0 and make the frame an X-Metal and there you have it. I like them and will probably pick them up once they offer them up for custom.

The pics don't do justice to this model, you gotta go check 'em out cuz they might surprise a few. It's not a Juliet-style X-Metal, it's way more everyday wear and a lil' more orthodox.

I wasn't over-excited by the original pics, but after trying them, I promise I'll get a pair or two in the near future!

Very classy.

I hope they fit better than the regular halfs. They tend to slip off my nose a bit. I guess to me they seem a tad out of place. I mean romeo was/is sort of the signature pair and they are already a semi-frameless. I guess, while I appreciate the design, I fail to see how they fit in the family. Anyone want to fill me in?

no, more like a romeo 2 and juliet hybrid...less like a half wire. nice glasses, but not for me...I like the hidden screws, but the stems are just okay, and they don't grab attention...Can't take away from them though, they are a clean pair of shades and very light for how thick the metal is!!!!

i havnt seen them yet so i am still not really sure what i think of them. I do know this much though. When i first saw the original pic i was very turned off from them. Now that they are up on the web site they have grown on me a little. I still agree with many other memebers who said that they are a little bit on the plain side. As far as im concerned they are nowhere near as cool as a romeo or a juliet visualy. For me to buy a pair they will have to make some more exciting colorways and they will have to look really freakin good on me

I'm startin' to feel 'em... but like many others will have reservations until seeing them "in person" and having an opportunity to try them on. I will say, however, that the flex couplers will be sorely missed and it was a complete insult to even consider having "warm grey" as a lens option for an X-Metal.

Regarding that lens everybody's complaining about...

Don't take it personal. Oakley isn't trying to lower the prestige and exotic-aspect of the X-Metal.

Like we've said in the past: it is still a company, and what does a company do? It analyses consumers' demand and preferences...then it comes up with an ideal offering to maximize the sales, right?

Including Warm Grey in the Half-X line-up isn't the work of someone lazy who didn't feel like putting iridium on that lens option: it is because research and past experiences have taught them that there was a market for such a lens in such a frame.

If you don't like it that's fine, it's just not for you. But Oakley wouldn't waste a unique SKU just for shits & giggles: there will be people who will feel like it was about time Oakley made an X-Metal without those ''crazy green & red colors''.

So don't be insulted - just feel more special

i.e. Feel like the true O-Reviewer that you are!

It could also be argued that they did the same thing for other models such as the Scar and Eye Jacket 3.0, both of which sold horribly at retail and were quickly discontinued. X-Metal is supposed to be the best of the best... a warm grey lens simply does not represent that, that's all I'm saying. And you are correct: crazy colors aren't always necessary. But black or slate iridium would have been far preferrable to just "grey", and would have also done the job nicely.

My comment about the similarities to a Half Wire 2.0 was more directed to the lens cut. if you put them side by side they are very similar.

Yeah, I wish they had the slimmer cut lens they are shown with on the box line art of the glasses.

Gotcha...just an odd pair for such a long wait. I am sure it will do okay, but I seriously doubt it will bring the sales of the Juliet or Penny...More like a XX Metal..

The Half X are more likely to be a niche sunglass and not have the mass appeal of the romeo, penny or juliet.

The Warm Grey lens is weak!

Warm grey on any X Metal is weak, but after wearing my Koziks frequently, I like that color. What would make it really perfect is a Black or Ti Iridium application on that base!!!

I haven't worn them yet, but I am definitely NOT feeling them at this point. I do reserve the right to change my mind once I get the chance to try them, but this new X-Metal is something we had been hearing for soooo long that it's a shame they aren't the pair to get everyone drooling. Like Oak said, I may wait to see if they release some sort of special version, but I am underwhelmed to say the least.

I like Warm Grey though. Nice lens.

To be perfectly honest, I can't tell the difference between Grey, Black Iridium and Warm Grey anyway. Yay for saving ten dollars!

Just for reference:

Really I do like all of em except the warm-grey. As far as I'm concerned the warm-greys have 2 strikes against them. 1. warm grey 2. raw x-metal looks ugly on everything, but Mars leather IMO.
