Just seen pics of the new Oakley Split Thump.
Looks just like Hijinx and has removable speaker ear booms, hidden control and unobtanium on inside of the ear stems. The control buttons are actually integrated into the large square icon. Coool.

Starting at 249$ for the 512mb
299$ for 1 Gig
399$ for 2 Gig

Releasing in Oct, Replaces the Thump 2 model

It sounds like a dream come true. I hope the lenses are interchangeable with the Hijinx so we can finally get some interesting choices.

So obviously, the benefit is you can wear them as a music player or just normal sunglasses, but wouldn't they be pretty hefty even without the ear pieces?

I shouldn't be surprised that they used the Hijinx as the template for the newest Thump. It's their lastest and greatest, after all. Love the idea of removable earpieces, but with my organizational skills, I'd probably lose one or both of them sooner or later.

Not gonna lie... I'm disappointed they didn't move forward with the MD style...

Instead they chose another bulky "brick" that they think is in style.... Much like T2... I was hoping that the technology had advanced more than that.

I'm not saying I won't have one but... I am disappointed...

They had tought of going with a Monster Dog Design for the first Thump but choose Gascan instead, we know the rest; O Square was launch and many models looking alike.

Here's a quote courtesy of Engadget.com

'We're not sure why Oakley keeps gluing MP3 players to semi-fashionable sunglasses and expecting us to be impressed, but they've gone above and beyond this time by calling the latest model the Split Thump. Apart from sounding like a kitchen accident, it's the same old Thump concept you know and avoid, only this time with controls integrated into the O logo and detachable earpieces so you can just be a straight-up Oakley guy instead of a giant Oakley nerd.'

The kitchen accident part was funny...

Thump's have always gotten hate from the tech crowd. Yet they have the nerve to call us nerds, when we're all obviously strapping young handsome men.

If The Dog likes them, then so should the techies.

If not, we will send The Dog after them and he will bring them in.

I think he may be the official reason the Thump line isn't doing to well. If not, he should be. Oakley should write a letter formally requesting him not to wear them in public.

His biggest crime... mullet. NO WAIT, arm band... braids maybe? I can't decide.

Like a ho-bag girl at a christmas party, he sets the brand image back decades.

you think with the money he gets from the show, he could perhaps upgrade from the thumps to the thump pro or something else.

I too wonder why Oakley havent asked him to stop wearing them
nice one Zev! haha
