Mhm... I don't understand the "artist" point when it comes to the price / collectors. C100 designs cd covers, clothes (not only Prada, Gucci, also usual brands). Flores was a artist known as a artist, but C100 in my opinion is just a design agency.

And btw - the flores clothes etc aren't expensive, only these toys are... and that's a own collector thing.

Now I'm starting to feel a bit upset that Oakley didn't make an LE Gascan when they opened the o-store in Bellevue, WA last week!!! LOL

i don't think oakley will sell them for any more than the regular price, they may even give them away, it's the people who go there who will get them and sell them on.

there's a magazine over here called fhp and it's full of wannabe dickheads in local business all dressed up like victoria and david beckham going to store/restaurant openings, it's these twats that get hold of them and either sell them on to us 'saddo' collectors or stick em in a cupboard and never wear them, they just got them for the sake of it cos they were free.

my london gases and riddles were from a guy who had them who was working there at the time, i offered him retail and he accepted which i see as fair enough.

good idea to make them in small batches though and trickle them out...

I agree with Oak about how some companies 'cashing in' on a collecting craze can have seen bad consequences in the long run.

I can also fully appreciate how it sucks to not be able to get the pair(s) that you are looking for or feeling that they are way too expensive. However, I don't see how Oakley has any obligation on their part to accommodate that, besides that it would be very appreciated by some of us. As for it being a smarter business move to sell more of a particular glass at a lower price, there are probably other benefits to having these limited runs besides immediate profit (i.e. brand image, demand for the brand in general, etc.)

I think it's odd how many people have said in reviews and elsewhere that they don't want to see other people wearing the same pair as them, or how they like having something 'exclusive.' You can't really maximize availability, exclusivity, and low cost all at once.

I feel like you can actually max out all of them. Even with full out releases of Juliets, GC's or anything, I barely see anyone wearin Oakleys. I still feel exclusive wearing Oakley, no matter the product. On top of that, 5000 would be a lot less than a full release, but at the same time appease the people who want them....I mean, if this was a global release, I still think 5000 is a pretty low number compared to the 6 billion people in the world.

You're right in that Oakley doesn't have an obligation, but there's only so many Black/Grey sig series glasses or Brown Smoke/Bronze colour combos that they can put out in the regular lineup before a person will ask "Why?" Especially when they are more than capable of putting out cool glasses. I wonder, can 4 variations (I'm just exaggerating here) of Black/Grey be selling all that well that the addition of a 5th edition will sell more than an original design like C100?

It does unfortunately, thats why theres plenty blue camo Fatcat in Vault stores, they did not sell well compared to the other, more drab colors.

Isn't there also Black/Grey combos in the Vaults as well? Also, didn't someone get a Plasma/Fire Juliet at a Vault (or was it Polished/Ice)? If both are true, then I don't think being at a Vault necessarily means low sales. Just overstocked. I figured those were stock items that they needed to get rid of to make room for others. But I do see your point regarding the BC FCs, though I suspect they had their own problems being part of Stretch rather than colour combo.

Well hell. I keep hearing word about an O Store opening up here on Maui. Maybe they'll have a special edition Hawaii pair limited to like 300 that I can scalp on eBay for a few bills... Might as well make my share too, then.

Then I can actually afford the DF and C100 Gascans!!! ^_^

This "500 peices" bull is really annoying. Because I already missed out on both of the DF Gascans. "Limited Edition" stuff is fine. But come on now. Only 500 pieces worldwide?
I am an OPD , and i couldnt even get them...
