I can't believe that almost everyone who owns one of these rare +reds is trying to sharpie them..... Well, with a usual new, coated lense, ok. But with these rare +reds.... I think at the end we'll see a auction like that on ebay... "+Red Radar BNIB RUBY FLORES -ONLY ONE WITHOUT SHARPIE MARKS-"

I am unclear what the sharpie does and why you would do it, to seal the edge?

The 'Sharpie Test' is just a fancy demonstration of the new hydro lenses. They take a sharpie and draw a line down the front of the lens - and it quickly just beads up and you can simply wipe it off.

So there isn't a functional use for the Sharpie except to wow your friends.

Todd,
they are talking about Oakley's much-touted "sharpie test" in which the hydrophobic lenses can be written on with a permanent marker and the ink will just bead up and drop off the lens and not leave any mark. That's all they're talking about. You can see this test on Oakley.com. I guess some of the +Red lenses are duds (ie: don't have said coating). That's really too bad. Unfortunately you can't just send them to warranty and get a good one because they stopped making them.

even if there is no coating on the lenses the sharpie still comes off you just cant leave it on to long. if it dose not bead up right away then you clean it and you would never know.

I just scored one at a local sunglass store one hour ago for retail price! I am so exited! So how many of us here have one? I counted Josh, Brent, Todd, cpsswat, Erik and Me. So I think the total count for now is 6.

and wicked as all hell Todd!!! Those things are one of the coolest, but I did a pair lastnight that rock pretty hard...I really like them, so much that I wouldn't take a pic a post it prior to the intended owner gets them himself! Very sick... Got to talk for a while yesterday with David...Very cool guy...enjoyed the conversation and look forward to many more! And no, not a single bit of sharpie will touch my radars!

it had to much blue in it when he turned it a couple of times, it looks just like my custom juliet +red. Pretty cool

I gave that a 5 Star rating just for the video's cool and mellow commentary. It's like the soothing sounds of nature but for Oakley fanatics.

Today was a another great day! I went back to the sunglass store where I bought my Radar +Red and I spoke to the owner. I informed him that when I bought my Radar, the sales girl could not find the original box so she gave me a another box. I asked if he knew where the original box was. He looked around and finally found it. So I have it! Now my rare +red is complete with box!!!!!

I just dont see a point in making a list like that, it will only push prices on Ebay with scalpers...

Furthermore, even if you knew how many members gotone, what does it tell you about how many they produced ? Not much

An alternative is to go to the members page, put Radar in the search box, and you will see who got one, very usefull feature.

It's +Red. Dax is a good customer of mine, but I had no idea he had posted something like that. Other than the fact that he purchased the lens from me, you can tell that the curvature of the lens is too low to be a Ruby. +Red, just like Ruby comes in all sorts of flavors. In fact, so much so, we have trouble matching the left & the right. Because of this and other difficulties, I personally cut every +Red & G26 lens that we ship.

Hey guys,

I was wondering if it is possible for me to get a +red iridium lenses for my Spike. ie Cut from an M-frame / order from Oakley.

Had been trying to custom the Spikes i have but is not very sure whether i could get the +red lenses for them. Looking for a red lenses other than ruby to go with either my matte / polished black spike.

All suggesstions/help would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

that is one I would pass on, but love to see...Spike is the hardest frame from what I have heard just to swap lenses in, let alone make them. very difficult. If I had a stock pile of extra money and lenses, I would love to one day tackle a Spike, but not enough $$ to throw away now...What am I saying, never enough $$ to throw away HAHA...Good Luck

I cant help smiling hearing Dax talk about the +red, how it can change colour but the part that was very funny was "no other lens can do this" because I was thinking .. yeah... my Juliet goes from purple to yellow.

Still... it looks AWESOME. Good job Keystone.

Yeah, the "no other lens can do this" isn't too convincing for us. We've all been wanting our Ruby's to NOT change color depending on angle forever. Don't think he meant to mislead or anything tho. :o)
